Titles for Citations
Due to the large number of Marriage supplemental documents used in 19th century Netherlands, I decided for the first time to make a custom template that uses Citations . All these supplemental documents are sourced under one Marriage Record , with the supplements simply being a sequential scan. For ...

Citations Column Missing in Records Window
I was reviewing the Citing Sources: Method 1 and Method 2 in the Knowledge Base where it shows there is a column called Citations in the Records window, under the Sources tab. I do not have this column and in the Configure Columns window, I do not see where there is the option for having this column...

Duplicating Names
On the Dutch Family Registration Cards, they used a system where they kept a registration card for each family and updated it any time they changed addresses, married, changed occupations, etc. They frequently needed to enter a name more that once in the record to make these changes. I have made tem...

Re: Research notes.
Re: Research notes. Post by tatewise » 17 Dec 2020 10:37 Yes, if the Research Note is linked to the Individual record then =Exists( %INDI._RNOT% ) should work. If the Research Note contains a 'rich text' link to the Individual then I don't think it is currently possible. This is a rather old post, ...

Hey Mike,There is also a Plugin to move your Cemetery names to the Address fields, but we can discuss that later.
Ready for some hints about moving my Cemetery names to the Address fields, when you get a chance, please?

Re: Custom Fact Fields
This is great!
It sums up all the previous discussions and ideas in a concise, easy to understand format for the different options available. And the illustrations really make a big difference in making it understandable for the less experienced users!
Thanks!

Re: Auto Source Records Title Problem
Something isn't quite right yet. I copied/pasted the supplied function into the Census template. I then synced the two (updated the Compare/Sync with Source Template Record... after changing the definition, and then hit the Source Record Title to untick and then tick the cog Autogenerate Record Titl...

Mike, I can't' figure out where in the formula I should paste your additions. I've tried in front of, behind, and just raplacing it with yours, but I have not yet gotten it correctly. Can you tell me where in the following formula it should go? And what does the "...1,0,..." and "...2,0,..." do in y...

Thanks to both of you!
I am sorry I did not understand some of your suggestions. I need to read more carefully and stop messing around with things I don't understand. The Records Title is working great now.
Thank You!

Re: Auto Source Records Title Problem
I was just looking in the settings of AS and noticed that the Source Short Title matches exactly what the problem Titles say (see snip). I have a vague memory of wondering what this does (the mouse-over explanation does not seem to work on this item), so I may have checked it, forgot about it, and t...

Re: Auto Source Records Title Problem
That did it Mike! Thank you so much! Yay!! Now I have to figure out how to fix the 7 entries that won't allow me to change it, but worst case, I can just re-do those 7 entries. Now just another small matter - Remember when I fixed the problem with Places that had more than 3 parts, in that they were...

Re: Auto Source Records Title Problem
What is so odd is that it won't allow me to change it manually either! I did click another field and also tried the F5 key, but it simply will not populate the Source Records field. I re-started FH, but still no-go. See below for screenshots showing they both are from the same template. I did just r...

Some of those were because I had not updated them by clicking the cog wheel twice, but one of them shows another problem I have not solved, which I will outline below. But as far as the Census being updated - They are all fully synchronised with the Source Template Definition. No matter what I do, t...

Auto Source Records Title Problem

The few that are being stubborn will not change - even if I try to manually change the title in the properties box or ...

Re: Emigration Fact - Copying and Using Both Copies
So what I think you are saying Adrian, is to simply not use the Immigration or Emigration Events, but instead to create from scratch an Immigration and Emigration event and use the Place field to state where "coming from" on one and "arriving to" in the other. A very simple, yet effective solution. ...

Re: Emigration Fact - Copying and Using Both Copies
Unfortunately, (or fortunately) I have their Emigration, Immigration and their Departure from Municipality documents. I guess I could just jumble them all together into one Event, but that just seems to be too messy. It is my Great (x3) Grandfather, after all. :) And I use use private [[#Research]] ...

Emigration Fact - Copying and Using Both Copies
The Emigration Fact and the Immigration Fact both appear to be different than other Fact types in that they have an additional "To" box that can be filled in to show where/to the individual was going. I have instances of Emigration and also instance of Departure from Municipality . They each use ver...

Re: Using AS with Dutch Population Registers
Everything is pulling in as expected except that it is not recording the Residence fact in FH. I assume this is because I selected the custom fact option (Pop. Register) in AS instead of the Default fact. I need the FH fact to be Pop. Register, but I would also like to show the Residence fact in FH....
