Re: Freeform Citation Source Templates
strange, if you downloaded Freeform Templates.fhst and doubleclicked it to install it, you should see Freeform Citation Template A and B on the screen you showed above. From there, you'd be able to add them to your current project. Did you get any message to say they'd been installed? Perhaps you co...

Re: Freeform Citation Source Templates
Is it possible that you installed the single template a week or two back? It's now been replaced by two as above.

Freeform Citation Source Templates
If you cite your evidence outside Family Historian , for example to record your citation in a research log, then you may be looking for a simple way to paste it into FH but still have it appear as a footnote in reports. If so, then you may be interested in trying some simple Freeform Citation Source...

Re: Is it possible to transfer source citations via GEDCOM to another family history programme?
The fundamental problem is that all products including FH supplement the standard GEDCOM with custom features. Most products will only recognise the standard GEDCOM and their own custom features. Thank you to Mike and Mark who kindly responded. I'd been hunting for a way to do it, mostly as a chall...

Is it possible to transfer source citations via GEDCOM to another family history programme?
I created an example citation in the sample database for Charlotte Carrington's baptism (yes I know it's not properly cited but it's just a test!) I used the Advanced - Church Records Database, Online template. Snap40.jpg The citation I used was Bath Parish (Somerset, England) "Register of Baptisms ...

Re: How to turn off Rich Text
EDIT: As far as I know Behold doesn't display images however the file links seem to resolve to the head and shoulders (not full) image ok.
I understand from Louis that 1.3 is some months away.

Re: How to turn off Rich Text
Mike, I ran several tests for comparison: Test 1. File | Import/Export | Export from FH with unchecked Source Template Records and checked Convert note to plain text Test 2. Export Gedcom File 5.0 plugin with all defaults Test 3. Export Gedcom File 5.0 plugin with all GEDCOM Destination = (CEB) Cust...

Re: How to turn off Rich Text
Yes, I'd be interested to know how to customize for Behold, and would be happy to help you with some checks. I have the 45 day evaluation version with 44 days remaining. Thanks also for the further information in using the plugin to export to RootsMagic. I'd previously run the plugin 'out of the box...

Re: How to turn off Rich Text
I was checking the output in Louis Kessler's Behold and it looked fine but ideally I'd like to import it to RootsMagic (7 or 8) so I can run it in a library on a memory stick without installing more software.
thanks
Kai

Re: How to turn off Rich Text
I did some more tests today and as far as I can see both ways strip the Rich Text ok. ie. A) Exporting the Ged file from FH (File | Import/Export | Export | Gedcom File with Convert note to plain text checked) B) Using the Export Gedcom File plugin v. 5.0 with Rich Text Formatting set to REMOVE. I'l...

Re: How to turn off Rich Text
I wasn't actually exporting from FH. I was simply importing the family historian ged file into other software.ColeValleyGirl wrote: ↑23 Feb 2022 19:38How are you doing the exports? For memory the export plugin handles it but Mike T will be able to clarify.
I'll try using the export plug-in and report back.

How to turn off Rich Text
Rich text looks good in FH, but not so great when I export a Gedcom and import to another program. Is there a way to turn it on or off in FH? Is there a way to convert any existing rich text back to plain text?
Thank you
Kai

Re: User-Written Source Templates
yes, makes sense! I've a freeform citation template I could contribute if anyone might be interested. It's what I was looking for when I started with V7. I'd be happy to upload it in case anyone would like to try it.

User-Written Source Templates
The Knowledge Base advises that "[Source Template]Collections which FHUG users have made available for other are found at Download Type: Source Templates " but it just reports Nothing Found. I guess that's because either there's an issue with the knowledge base, or more likely just that no-one's con...

How to edit a template already in use

Re: Recording foreign marriages in AS
thank you, I'll take a look. As an aside, I just found that I can create the basic details in AS, transfer them to FH and then paste my information which I'd already recorded in an Excel spreadsheet, straight into text from source tab of the citation.

Re: Change citation template for an existing source
thanks Mike! Re: Change citation template for an existing source
I think I may have answered my own question... Recording foreign marriages in AS
I'm familiar with how to use Tools | Census Templates to create a new census template eg. for Denmark. I now have some Danish church parish register entries for marriages and am wondering if there's a way to create an appropriate template.

Change citation template for an existing source
I recorded a marriage in AS and transferred it into FH7 but now realize I would have liked to have used one of the advanced source templates, probably Church Records | Derivatives | Church Record Database, Online. I don't mind re-entering the citation information in the template. What's the best way...
