Force Given Name in Fact Sentence
I can't locate any information on how to force a given name to appear in a fact sentence. I want to prevent the pronouns - he/her or him/her from being automatically selected. Specifically, I want to force the {individual} code display only the given name. Thanks for the help.

[Wish List Item 597] Please Add a Metafield Description Tooltip for Templates
I've now used FH for about four months and for the first time ever, have found a software program that I am extremely happy with! I first started entering data into the DOS version of PAF sometime back in late 1980s and used several other programs since then - esp. Ancestral Quest (AQ) and then Root...

Re: Need to Fix Field Name on Source Template
Thanks, Mike! Your suggestion worked like a charm although I had to go VERY slowly and had a bit of a problem with the last step (item 5). Needless to say, I've been able to get it to work. THANK YOU!!! Here's what the corrected template looks like now: Corrected_Census_Template..jpg The next item I...

Need to Fix Field Name on Source Template
I've fallen in love with FH - I just finished, yesterday, converting some of the VERY old data (some of that was entered also long ago as the late 1980s and early 1990s) to be consistent with source templates I created about 12 years ago. FH allowed me to finish a project I didn't think I'd ever com...

Re: Resize and Move Media Using Mouse
Hello. I am also new to FH and want to second APearson's suggestion previously posted on Jan 22. Allowing the grabber hand to be set as default would make moving zoomed images around the screen much easier. Thank-you. While FH does allow for media to be dragged around the screen using the mouse whi...

Re: Where Used Record Links Plugin • Record Type
As the plugin is being used mainly for Sources it may be worth mentioning that in V7 you can select a Source in the Records window and then click the cog wheel icon in its Property Box toolbar and use the option to Show Source Record's Citations in Results Window. The columns in the Results set are...

Re: Where Used Record Links Plugin • Record Type
You can open the Records Window and its Sources tab (or any other tab), where you can select any records and the plugin then runs using that selection without prompting at all. But you must also untick the Keep Prompt option for selecting record types. Sorry about it not defaulting to Source record...

Re: Where Used Record Links Plugin • Record Type
The plugin only lists the Record Types for which your Project actually has any records to investigate. So presumably your Project has no Note, Submitter, Submission, or Research Note records. It usually defaults to Source, which is halfway down the list, so you may need to use the scroll bar to see...

Re: Combine two templates?
Thank you everyone! This was very helpful. Mike's solution was the one that I was able to get to work. Although it is not for the faint of heart, I took my time and made a lot of backups first. The only thing I couldn't find (at first) was the location of the "Records Window" (View > Other Records L...

Combine two templates?
I've been using FH a great deal over the past week and am sold on it! However, I've come across a problem that I can't solve concerning templates. Specifically, I imported all of my data over from RM and then used the plugin to add them to FH and that seemed to work well. In addition, I made some sl...

Re: Importing Templates from RootsMagic
Hi Simonides, I suspect we did but can't remember the conversation (sorry)! Anyway, while I have been able to import the Simple Citations Templates into FH and they are, for the most part, working, there are a few things that are different in FH, which I'm trying to overcome. The issue with the "Lon...

Re: RootsMagic 7 to FH7 Template Questions
Now for the important part. When inputting data into the template, the "Prompt" ("hints" in RM) is populated with suggestions after they've been reentered into FH (as they don't appear to have been imported from RM) - which is what is expected. I would like for the "Description" (or "Long Hint") to ...

RootsMagic 7 to FH7 Template Questions
As I'm still exploring FH, I continue to examine several things before I "officially" use it as my database (FYI, I've stopped entering data into RM too as I will be moving over to FH). Anyway, I've noticed a few things as I've imported my RM data into FH regarding the RM templates I've created (the...

Re: Display File name and path?
Hi Mike (not Mark),
Sorry about that - I was commenting on what you had written. Anyway, I was able to get your suggestion to work. Thanks.
I'm still examining how the templates are handled in FH - I'm going start a new thread sometime soon to discuss that.

Re: Display File name and path?
Hi Mike, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - the past couple of days have been busy for me. I've played around with your suggestions and, while I wasn't able to get it to work - I'm suspect that's because it's been awhile since I did any coding and I'm not familiar enough with FH. I'm also ...

Re: Display File name and path?
Brent, Thanks! That's good to hear. I remain very positive about FH and am fully intent now on switching. I've just imported my (good) RM file into FH again to deal with the situation with the media file locations and everything went well. Just the same, I'm going to continue to work on tweaking FH ...

Re: Display File name and path?
Thank you both for your great suggestions. I'll work with them and see what I can do. Yes, I'm quite computer literate and can usually figure out how to handle things. I'm so impressed with FH that I will be switching to FH, exclusively, in the very near future (actually, I'm kind of doing that now ...

Re: Display File name and path?
I was afraid that was the case. Your suggestion to "View Media in Media Window. Then the Media Records list on the left includes the File paths" does work but it's a bit of a hassle (extra mouse clicks). While I'm now allowing FH to place copies of media files in a single location, I have always kep...

Display File name and path?
As I'm entering information for a new source, I've run across a situation that I can't find a solution to. Specifically, I'd like to be able to see the file name and path to it on the Citation panel:
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Struggling with Code for Fact Sentence
Thank you VERY MUCH! Some of the terminology in FH has thrown me for a loop (only because I'm so used to using other software applications for so long) and one I figured out how to use Automatic Source Citation, things went MUCH smoother and very quickly! While I still had to do a fair amount of mou...

Re: Struggling with Code for Fact Sentence
You're absolutely correct - the term "fact" has thrown me off. At the moment, I haven't entered the data. I figured I'd tackle this as an exercise to help me become familiar with FH. So, far, I remain very impressed with FH although its considerably different than RM. In my existing db, which I just...

Struggling with Code for Fact Sentence
Hi Everyone, I'm a FH newbie (although a long-time genealogy geek) and am struggling to create the code for a sentences for a new fact type I've created. Specifically, I need to document a source, an Ancestry Chart (similar to descendant chart that a cousin sent to me that contains about 80 names). ...

Re: Resize and Move Media Using Mouse
Thanks for the info. I see what you mean about the Multimedia window - holding the ctrl key down and scrolling does work! I believe that most programs in which it is possible to use the scroll wheel to zoom, as long as the media item has "focus," the mouse can zoom in and out. However, once the mous...

Resize and Move Media Using Mouse
First of all, I've just taken the big plunge and purchased FH - I'm about to move my RootsMagic files over to FH as my new main database - even though I've used RM forever! As I'm learning my way around FH, one of the first things I've noticed is that I cannot move media around in FH without having ...
