Issue with Informant Witness for Birth Certificates
Hi Guys, I am not sure whether this should be an AS query or an FH query. I have created sources in AS from the birth certificates for Maria and Martha Rollin, twin daughters of Susannah Rollin (nee Whitaker). I have cited Susannah as the Informant. The birth date from the certificates was 30 Jan 18...

Re: Citing Sources from a Transcriptions database
Mark The transcript database was compiled by Nottinghamshire Family History Society (NFHS), and the records are complete transcripts as true to the original as possible, including both Father's Profession and Notes fields, as per the attached screen clip. NFHS sell copies on flash drive. The databas...

Re: Citing Sources from a Transcriptions database
Mark They are both from the same master transcription. FMP have chosen to exclude occupation and, although search results of the NFHS database include the "Notes" information, the printout report does not! There are not multiple families. All the entries are for the children of William Rollin and Su...

Re: Citing Sources from a Transcriptions database
Sorry, I didn't make myself clear - I SHALL link the "Database Search Report" media image. It is the first image (with the green logo) with the database version number and date information which is superfluous, provided I add the version data to the Source title as per my example. Custom IDs will be...

Re: Citing Sources from a Transcriptions database
Thanks I like that idea, I think I have been trying to make it too complicated. There are quite a few other record images I need to add sources for from this database (which is on a flash drive). I think I can simplify it a bit more, and remove the need for NHSF image, if I add the database version ...

Citing Sources from a Transcriptions database
I need some advice on the best way to create source citations for transcription records from a database. Specifically, I have a Parish Records Baptisms Transcriptions database produced by Nottinghamshire Family History Society the details of which are attached. NFHS Baptisms Database s.jpg I have se...

Re: Query Expression to display "preferred" marriage data
Having checked a few reports, I don't see that as an issue, in fact, it is a bonus having the higher relevance "Direct Line" family appearing first, and the "Step" family coming below it. The chronology for an individual's facts is not affected. If I were to find an issue with a report, it is very e...

Re: Query Expression to display "preferred" marriage data
Hi Apologies for resurrecting this thread, but I thought I should post a very simple solution I have found that solves my specific "preferred marriage" problem. Attached is an image showing the Focus Window and Property Box for my great grandmother Elizabeth Smith. Her first marriage was to William ...

Re: cannot download AS 7.3
Mikes advice is good. The easiest thing to try first is reboot your computer. You have probably done a "Restart" as part of the Windows update, but I would recommend a complete shutdown of your PC and your router. Switch the router back on first, give 2 or 3 minutes to reboot, then switch on the PC....

Re: Zooming Media images
Mike, IGNORE THIS POST !!! You sent yours while I was still writing this. I have tested the plugin on the Media Title "Baptism (PR) Children of CHAPPELL John and ROLLIN Mary [FAM-063]", where (PR) identifies the media source type, in this case Parish Register. Unfortunately the plugin is doing a bit...

Re: Zooming Media images
Hi Mike, Thanks, I will try the one without the Record ID prefix. My titles have the format "Census 1841, ROLLIN Peter, [IND-0001]", where the square brackets contain the Custom ID (Individual or Relationship), which ensures a unique Title / file name and gives a sort order that makes it easy to fin...

Re: Zooming Media images
Not completely, In my last post I said that "View All Media" is the better choice for me than "view media for selected record" as it gives me the full listing of all uploaded media files. I can display files in the display pane and can zoom the image and edit the title there. Almost doing the job, b...

Re: Zooming Media images
Sorry - when you said "view media for selected record" my blinkered view took record to mean an Individual record, I had not considered a media record. Without a media file selected in the media list "view media for selected record" is greyed out, which is not an issue as for what I am doing "View A...

Re: Zooming Media images
Thanks Mike, I don't think the Camera option will help as I am trying to tidy up media files imported from Family Tree Maker, so I am not working from records, also I have found that some of the files don't even have linked records. A lot of these files are downloads from Ancestry.co.uk, and the fil...

Re: Zooming Media images
O.K. that works if I am working in the Media Window, and am showing the Display Pane. However, there is a glitch here. If I try to select the image from the List Screen the image opens in the property box, where I can find no way of resizing the image. I have to open the first media item from the Di...

Zooming Media images
Hi, When using the media window is there any way of zooming in on the image? I can't seem to find it if there is. Deciphering words on old documents like census images can be quite difficult without being able to zoom in. It would be good to be able to do this within FH rather than have to use a sep...

Re: Change fact name
If you are comfortable with editing the Gedcom file directly then, (Making a backup copy first) , use a basic text editor to do a simple "find and replace". I used this technique with great success when I wanted to change the prefix for 1200+ custom ID records In a Gedcom I had imported into FH from...

Re: Source Title formatting
Not So Mike! I have found the right place to do it in AS >Tools > Options > Choose Section: Baptisms Settings - Method 1 , as per the attached jpeg. At the moment most of my baptism records come from Nottinghamshire Family History Society transcriptions database, so I have put in the source, collect...

Source Title formatting
Hi, I am trying to format my Source Titles to match the "Strathclyde" version of the Harvard citation layout. This uses "SURNAME, Given Name", and uses long Month names in dates. I have cloned the Church Register source template and customised the title layout, and have edited the AS "Principal" to ...

Re: Source and citation
I would endorse Jimlad68's suggestion of trying the Ancestral Sources Plugin for FH. Say you have a census image for a family with nine children, then using notes fields means eleven entries to make, a bit time consuming even using cut and paste. And the image needs to be linked to all of the as wel...

Ahnentafel numbers in named lists
Hi, Is there a way of adding Ahnenetafel numbers to a named list? I have created a list called "Direct Line", which is my direct line ancestors. It currently comprises the fields Records, Custom ID and Relationship to Root (myself). I would like to be able to sort these by Ahnenetafel Number if poss...

Re: Fact based queries
Sorry to be a nuisance Mike, but I am now struggling with the Rows Filter syntax to exclude Males\Females. I have added a column to the ALL FACTS query headed "Sex", with the expression - =Field(FactOwner(%FACT%,1,MALES_FIRST),'INDI.SEX'). This is populating "Male" and "Female" OK, so I now want to ...

Re: Fact based queries
I am familiar with the concept of family records, however, my background is with true relational databases, where there is no differentiation between "Individual" and "Fact" based queries. In any query or report, there would need just one "Individual" column and the fact would be shown for both peop...
