Re: Using Custom ID in Source Record Title

Nick

Yes. I've modified all the templates I use in AS to create the Source Title in the format I prefer and selected the 'no update in FH' option.

Thanks for all your work with AS

Re: Using Custom ID in Source Record Title

Hi Mike Thanks for the reply. I have played about a bit more before seeing your second message and came to the same conclusion. I have been adding the CustomID by manually amending the Title so I'll just carry on doing that. Learnt a few things in the process though so not been a waste of time. Than...

Using Custom ID in Source Record Title

Hi I am creating custom Source Templates and want to include the individual's Custom ID in the Record Title. If this is possible could you advise on the format I should be using. What I am aiming for is along the lines of: Smith - Albert Charles (S 356) Obituary 26 Jan 1989. Using: {Name:SURNAME} - ...

Search and Replace Plugin & NAS

Hi Mike I seem to be having a problem with the Search and Replace plugin and just wanted to check if i am missing something. My project is stored on a NAS drive, mapped as Y on my laptop. This is set as the default project and default location in FH. I also have a copy of the project on my C drive a...

External File Link Anomaly

Morning All Just wondered if anyone could help clear up this anomaly for me. It's nothing serious, just irritating my OCD gene. External File Link is reporting a missing file, but it is in a project that has been deleted (using File>Project Window>More Tasks). I can confirm through File Explorer tha...

Re: AS v7.7.1 Display Problem

Must start with a confession. My desktop is not running at 175%. Windows Display Settings show 175%, but is greyed out. If I go into Custom Scaling I am at 120%, and no matter what I change that to the Display Settings show a grey 175%. So, apologies for that. In AS Font is Tahoma size 8. Inc...

AS v7.7.1 Display Problem

Hi Nick Downloaded v7.7.1 last night and now have errors with the display. The Census History, Add Parent, Add Spouse, Add Sibling, Add Child fields are all cut short and not widening even when populated. This is irrespective of whether Census, Birth, Baptism, Marriage, Death or Burial is selected. ...

Re: Data References In Fact Sentences

Hi Mike Thanks for your help and the solution. I had gone down the Data Reference Assistant route, using Source/Field and renaming _FIELD with NEWSPAPER, but hadn't picked up on the ~EN- prefix. Whether I would have eventually got there with another re-reading of the Understanding Data References he...

Data References In Fact Sentences

Hi I hope someone can give me the answer to this before I completely lose it ! I have a Custom Fact (Newspaper) and a Custom Source Template (Newspaper Entry) which is based on the Essentials/Publications/ Newspaper Item Template. I want to add the data from two fields in my Custom Source Template (...

Re: Modify AS Auto-Text Marriage Template

That is what I have been doing. The problem (?) I have is that my design has the position for the data in an odd place and I keep forgetting to type it in, whereas the Note space on the screen is obvious and I would be more likely to notice if I had missed it out. Not to worry, just need to enter a ...

Modify AS Auto-Text Marriage Template

Hi
Quick question about modifying an AS Rich Text Auto-Text Marriage Template.
I would like to include anything that I enter in the Note field into the template, but am struggling to find the data ref for this.
Firstly, is it possible to do this and if so what wording should i be using.
Thanks

Scottish Birth Certificates & FH Templated Sources

Hi I'm not a regular user of AS but with support now for FH Templated Sources I thought I'd give it a try. I have a custom template in FH for Scottish Births which I have loaded into AS. This works as far as it goes, but AS has an autotext option for Scottish Birth Certificates 1856- which when open...

Re: FTM to FH - Places/Media/Descriptions

Notepad++ find and replace changed 14k+ :o
On loading FH a warning message indicated that 12 had been Excluded. Didn't take long to find that these already had a Date in place, so a quick amendment to the .ged solved this.

Thanks

Re: FTM to FH - Places/Media/Descriptions

Hi Mike Just to confirm that the plugin you kindly wrote for me works fine. Have had a good look at the Places and can't see any obvious anomalies. Oh, omitted to mention that 2_TEXT to 1NOTE worked perfectly.
As a matter of interest would something similar work to move a 2_DATE entry to the Media Record Date field ?

Re: FTM to FH - Places/Media/Descriptions

Hi Mike Thanks for your response. This issue is not related to my previous enquiry. Part 1 Places for Church & Churchyard is a conscious decision by me, and yes on the screenshot the media was just for the Church, but I've checked and it's not always the case. The title of the media is a shortened v...

FTM to FH - Places/Media/Descriptions

Afternoon All In FTM 2017 I had photos of many buildings linked to Places with an accompanying description or comment. My import to FH has correctly carried across the Places showing the number of links to Facts Places.png , but the photos are not linked to the Place (but again, they are to Facts) C...

Hi Sorry if I've gone back in time for this post but I'm thinking of using something like the Dollarhide Numbering system for Custom ID's in my tree and apart from Terry Cole's old site there doesn't seem to be an awful lot of information about. I saw that David was writing a plugin for his own use ...

Re: Custom ID's - any way to enter on-mass?

Further to the last post I wonder if Phil made any progress with a plug-in ? My import from FTM shows the custom id's i used there. I would like to amend the system I had been using, but rather than doing it person by person (which I can do) a method of doing it in blocks (eg by surname) would be re...

Just as a matter of interest the Church of England, through the Cumbrian based company Atlantic Geomatics, are surveying all of their 19,000 churchyards as part of a project to create a free digital map of every grave and feature in every churchyard in the country. All visible headstones will be pho...
