Re: Import of RM7 Citations

Trying to lay out a game plan on how to attack this having reviewed the Lua programing materials. Given that many of my citations are Type 2 or lumped - this will involve bringing in the Source and then each of the citations for an event tied to that source. Looking at the RM Gedcom, each source is ...

Re: Freeform citation in V7

Here us the citation input screen I created to match the RM created citation (and what I was hoping I would be able to create with the Plugin. Although this is probably more related to the Import of RM7 Citations (19266) forum - at some point, I would want all the RM citations "converted" to an equi...

Could only get 3 images in the post so the images of the RM generated template are in previous post. Here are the images of the "equivalent" in FH7.

Re: Freeform citation in V7

Here is template and the associated data entry screen created in RM, I have also attached and "equivalent" template and data entry for the same citation in FH. One issue I discovered is in formatting the Footnote, Short-Footnote and Bibliography. It appears FH does not allow source level fields in t...

Re: Import of RM7 Citations

started through the link from Mervyn - very helpful - seems written for someone with little or no knowledge of Lua compared to their Reference Manuals.
Also ordered a couple of books from Amazon and received notification Getting the Most from FH6 has shipped.
Thanks to all

Re: Import of RM7 Citations

Before I wrote the post, I had been through the FH Plugin Help- How to Trite Plugins and the exercises & Intro to Lua, The Lua 5.3 Ref Manuel and the KB. I think these resources assume the reader has some basic level of understanding of coding and the FH API, that I don't have. Things like it appear...

Import of RM7 Citations

I am new at writing plug-ins and the first attempt is the development of a plug-in to import citation citations generated and exported in RM7 to an "equivalent" citation in FH7. The goal is to have one plug-in for both Type 1 (or splitter) and Type 2 (Lumper) citations and both FH7 built in citation...

Re: Freeform citation in V7

In my “sample” citation there was no formatting, but I have other citations and I see Simonide’s citation that use <i>. Off top of my head, I can’t remember creating citations that use any other formatting. I also have to figure out how multiple citations to single source were handled. For example i...

Re: Freeform citation in V7

Simonides - Yes So we can follow through the import process, attached are the images of a RM Free-form citation page, the FH imported citation page and the FH Source Record. I stand corrected - I said there were no fields, when in fact both RM and FH treat what I called the input/text boxes as field...

Re: Freeform citation in V7

The template is not user built, it is one of RMs standard templates. There are no fields. I’m not at my computer where I can attach an example of RM free-form. The “template” or input screen is basically what I would call three note/text fields. One each for footnote, short footnote and bibliography...

Re: Freeform citation in V7

My approach to the transfer is to attempt to determine what work flow/ data entry would look like in FH7 going forward and then determine how best to fix the transfer problem to fit into the anticipated work flow strategy. I’ve just started looking at “citations” and I have not looked at the UDF rep...

Re: Freeform citation in V7

I have created a custom template template in both RM and FH7 that create Footnote/short foot note/bibliography used in reports. I have also attached an image of how the RM citation was imported. So as I see my options to deal with the imported citations is to either re enter the info for each one in...

Re: Freeform citation in V7

I expected the difficulties with the “template” citations - FH7 (or any other receiving program) would not know where or how RM put the custom fields in the Gedcom or know what to do with them within the FH7 project. What surprised me was the free form citations. I thought these (or at least the lon...

Re: Freeform citation in V7

RM to FH7 convert. I am combination lumper and splitter, depending on the source and how many pages/documents I will be citing from a given source. In RM I created sources in their free-form template (see Mervyn’s 25 Feb post), RM templates and a number of customized templates to create layered cita...

Yes, seeing the output is helpful. I need to print these posts so I’m not scrolling back and forth on the thread. Also, waiting for the arrival of “Getting the most out of FH6” to review chapters on queries.

Re: Research notes, to do and hash tags

Mike and Mark
Thanks - and even though you are "not Helen", the help is greatly appreciated. :) especially since I did not anticipate an answer until tomorrow because of the time difference.
Probably should have created 2 posts - one to thank Helen and the other to ask the question.

Re: Research notes, to do and hash tags

If I understand the recent posts, when I create a Research Note (task or log) I should put all the links (repository, individual or place) in plain text outside a table. If I have more than one link, should they be comma separated or separate lines: Repository 1, Repository 2 or Repository 1 Reposit...

Re: Research notes, to do and hash tags

Thanks Helen for the query info - just have to figure it all out. Is there a list of what I call the sort commands out there. e.g. Getlabelledtext, %NOTE.TEXT%, TextToNumber, etc. (This will date me, but it reminds me of a previous life creating ladder diagrams for IF-THEN, AND, OR relay logic in pr...

Re: Import RM to do lists?

Mark,
Works for me. I was prepared to go through the list to add the links. Was not a huge project foe me because my task titles included the individual so I can see who it is linked to without opening the note/ task, but if the plug-in can do it, even better.

Re: Where did my family sources (proof of parentage) go?

DJY, I know this does not address your specific issue of how to get the I o share you want it, but thought I would share how I handled the documentation of the parent-child relationship and a way to do it in FH7. In RM7, I had created a custom fact called Parent. This is the only “shared fact” I eve...

Re: Research notes, to do and hash tags

I am a little confused because this thread keeps bouncing around the topics creating the Research Notes Records, query/search of those records and the import of the records for RM7. I just wanted to clarify that in my mind, there are two different, but also interrelated, situations/issues I am deali...
