Re: Simple Citations Templates for Family Historian 7
I have a number of 'document copies'. Information as to the possessor (at the time of my making the copy) is annotated on the document copy. In FH I record that information in the source record. The Repository records me as the holder of the document copy. In several cases, I no longer know who has ...

Re: Search and Replace: Angle Brackets
Thank you Mike. I have already tried Restart, to no avail. Both of the Search and Replace problems started as soon as I upgraded, so I put them down to a quirk of the upgrade. I will do a re-install (that'll have to be tomorrow). Here's a glimpse of the problem: I am working in a Source Record, Text...

Search and Replace: Angle Brackets
Since upgrading I have noticed a problem with S&R and angle brackets in plain text. I'm fairly sure that I never had it in v6. The 'Current Value' and 'Replacement Value' windows show the correct before and after values, the record itself (e.g. Source) frequently has missing text after the replaced ...

Search and Replace Error Message
Since upgrading to v7, periodically this error message (see attachment) comes up.
Restarting FH resolves the problem.
I am using S&R v.3.6.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Infant & Juvenile Mortality
I am a splitter, so each birth, death and marriage (index reference, pdf/certificate) has its own source. For GRO index listings I do not bother to download images of the pages, instead I copy the index reference to the source record (text from source). For birth and death records mostly I use the G...

Re: Infant & Juvenile Mortality
I too 'colour-code' my diagram boxes to highlight age bands at death. I do not use the 'Age' box in facts, so I used the AgeAt function in the expression.

Re: Surname prefix (SPFX) -- more generally, handling structured names.
As a former indexer, I have been following this discussion with interest. I have a thick ring binder full of notes on indexing the names of people. We followed guidance in British Standards, Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, Chicago Manual of Style, Society of Indexers, etc. Incidentally, there are ...

As a workaround, in place of the Individual Summary Report plus sources, might you be able to use the Record Detail - Individuals Report?

Re: Is it possible to add 2 or more sources to a fact at the same time
Aah, Thank you Mike. I didn't give enough thought to the word 'potentially'; I thought I was missing something that should have been obvious to me! It's not very often that I have wanted to copy several Citations. It will have been when I was working in the 'dark recesses' of my project, on 'parts' ...

Re: Is it possible to add 2 or more sources to a fact at the same time
Mike: Apologies, I'm missing something. I don't understand 'by allowing the selection of more than one Citation before using the 'Copy Citation to Source Clipboard' button'. How do I select more than one?
Adrian: Well I never thought of trying that. And I do often 'visit' the All tab. Thank you.

Re: Is it possible to add 2 or more sources to a fact at the same time
I am a splitter of sources and I do not enter any Citation-specific details. I use regularly the 'Copy Citation' and 'Paste Citation' buttons at the bottom of the Citation List Pane.
At times, I have wished that I could copy more than one citation at a time!

Re: Query: Sources linked to Individuals, using Named List
Thank you Mike. That was just what I wanted. It will be a great time-saver for me. The 'Data Ref' and 'Field' Columns of the query are useful too. I no longer need to add any codes (it was the Family Rec ID/IDs) to the Source Record as the plugin picks up all the linked sources, and now I can add th...

Re: Query: Sources linked to Individuals, using Named List
Thank you Mike. I'm working on a project for my late uncle's family (uncle by marriage to me). My aim was to produce a report based around a family group which lists all their events as a single 'diary'. In effect, one timeline covering multiple people. Each report may cover the events of a wider fa...

Query: Sources linked to Individuals, using Named List
I want to create a query listing all the sources linked to individuals in a named list. In turn, those sources will be added to a named list. I am familiar with using named lists (adding to a list from the results of a query, using named lists in query Rows, etc.). I have been able to adapt 'Sources...

Re: Search and Replace plug-in error
Thank you, Mike. I was selecting a specific custom Family Fact. There was no problem when using 'Family Records (FAM)'. Yes, the fact name does contain parentheses. Did you use the Select Records button to select a subset of records? Never got to that, just selecting the appropriate fact brings up t...

Re: Search and Replace plug-in error
This evening I have experienced the same error message. Deleting the Search and Replace.dat file, as explained above, solved the problem.
I was working within FH using queries, creating a report, and updating some records. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I am finding this plugin very useful (thank you Mike). The colour coding of individuals is a clever aid. The bonus is that I can copy and paste the text into my word processor. I have no ability with writing or adapting plugins to my requirements other than very minor changes (e.g. in this plugin, c...

Re: Table listing census entries against individuals ?
Before coming to Family Historian, for many years I used a chart system similar to the 'Timeline Grid' shown above; I called them 'worksheets'. It was a manual system. I created blank worksheets which I then filled in by hand; they were A4 landscape with room for eight census columns. It was a very ...

Re: Renaming filenames
Apologies Mike, I am not making myself clear. The plugin does work in my system, but it found no duplicates (as I expected). The files unlinked to FH may contain (probably will contain) duplicates of some of the images linked to FH, although under different filenames. I don't see myself ever writing...
