Re: Issues when directly Importing RM 8 File with Places
Yes, after standardizing them, I had literally hundreds of dupes which I had to merge. If RM 8, you can have for example Canton, Ohio and Canton, Stark County, Ohio. Then you run the place clean function that can check a location database and add (as an example) United States to all locations in the...

Re: Issues when directly Importing RM 8 File with Places
I thought I would post what Support found was the problem in case anyone else has the same issue. I had spent about a week going through the places and trying to standardize them. I went from 3700+ places to about 2100. In the process I guess I missed a few duplicates. If there is a duplicate in RM ...

Re: Issues when directly Importing RM 8 File with Places
Thanks for the input. Calico / FH support got back to me already this morning and I've sent them a link to the database so they can check it out. Between the helpers on this forum and the official FH Calico support, FH is an excellent choice

Issues when directly Importing RM 8 File with Places
Hi Folks: I submitted a ticket with FH support because I didn't think this was an issue that could be helped here... but you all know so much maybe I missed a thread here on the forums. When I do a direct import of my RM 8 (latest version of RM 8) tree into FH7 (latest edition), dozens of the places...

Multiple Media Records?
I am not sure if this is the way FH7 is supposed to be, but I noticed in the "Media" tab that the same media shows multiple times. Here is an example: https://i.ibb.co/XL8nZcD/multiplemediarecords.png This is not a case of multiple versions of the same file (I've already checked the media folder and...

Re: Renaming Media Files
Perfect! Thank you Mike, Jane and Peter.
I used the one with no id from 2022 (https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic ... 35#p122146) and it worked great. That saved me hours of tedious renaming one file at a time. FH 7 and you all are great!!

Re: Renaming Media Files
I wrote myself a plugin which renames the Files based on the titles of the Media records, it's not at plugin store quality, but you might be able to use it as a base. It prefixes the names with the Media Record Number, but it would be easy to change. Hi Jane: I recently gave titles to several hundr...

Re: Best way to create project with Ancestors and 2 generations of decendants?
Thanks that worked perfect for slimming down the project. I've read the directions for the places, named list and have just one question. My brain is working slow today so I just want to make sure I don't mess it up. A place is not used in the project if it shows as having 0 links correct? I have th...

Best way to create project with Ancestors and 2 generations of decendants?
Hi, I have a FH file with about 10000+ people in it. I want to create a version of the project that just includes Ancestors and 2 generations of their decendants. (I want the direct ancestors, their siblings, and the children/spouses of their children) I'm assuming that the "Split Tree Helper" is wh...

I would say it might be possible. Is there a way to narrow down which fact or ancestor it might be?

Error Running "Find Duplicate Citations"
Hi Folks: When I try to run the "Find Duplicate CItations" plugin I get the following error: https://i.postimg.cc/VvrSMwJy/error-running-Find-Duplicate-Citations.png I already ran the "Delete old FH6 Plugin Module Files" plugin to see if that was the issue. I'm running the latest version of Fh7 (7.1...

Re: Splitting lumped Generic or Templated sources by plugin
Hi Mark: Mike made some adjustments to his gedcom export plugin that makes the needed adjustments for those that might want to use FTM to upload data/media to Ancestry so there is no need to worry about making any changes to your plugin. 19630|Exporting Source Citation Media to FTM/Ancestry Thank yo...

Re: Exporting Source Citation Media to FTM/Ancestry
Thank you Mike for your hard work on this :) I think it is all good now: 1. The source link is copied perfectly to the citation weblink field. 2. The source media is linked to the citation which allows the media to be uploaded to Ancestry. 3. The citation link is clickable and works on Ancestry. The...

Re: Exporting Source Citation Media to FTM/Ancestry
Hi Mike: Yes, when moving the citation note to FTM into the "Web Address" only one address can fit/work. Whatever is in that Citation web address field becomes is uploaded to the clickable web address field on Ancestry: https://i.imgur.com/rLnu8y0.png There were a few cases (not many I think) where ...

Re: Exporting Source Citation Media to FTM/Ancestry
Hi Mike: The export plugin does appear to be linking the media to the source (which is fine in FTM but won't upload to Ancestry) and links to the Citation. So both of the media tabs below show the media. The upload to Ancestry uploads the citation media now (so the media upload issue is fixed). Also...

Exporting Source Citation Media to FTM/Ancestry
Hi Mike: This continues the discussion from 19438|Splitting lumped Generic or Templated sources by plugin . Instead of pasting a whole bunch of photos I made a very short video to show the changes before and after the conversion from lumped to separate sources, what it looks like in FTM , and the fi...

Re: Splitting lumped Generic or Templated sources by plugin
Hi Mark: As a test I used your plugin to convert a copy of my database from lumped (imported from FTM 2019) to sources. I converted about 66,000 citations (from about 150 sources) with it as a test. It does exactly what you want it to do... but it won't work for me. I now use FH 7 as my main program...

Re: Multimedia Import From FTM
Thanks for the query Mike. I had forgotten I needed to check on this. I had the same issue ('Unable to load Object. Bad JPG File'.) when exporting from FTM 2019. The html, txt, docx, pdf media files were not displaying properly on import. I only had 65 to update, but it was a lot easier having them ...

Re: How to edit and change source for existing source
Hi Mike: The "Where Used Record Links" plugin I think does what I need. What I haven't figured out is what exactly do I click on to select two citations to merge? I tried clicking on different fields and then selecting the merge function on the edit menu but it seems to want to merge sources and not...

Re: How to edit and change source for existing source
Thanks Mike, the "Replace Selected Source Citations" worked perfect. I started off with 66,055 "Familysearch" citations and was able to move them to appr...

How to edit and change source for existing source
Hi Folks: I have a lot of citations that I want to change their sources. I'm using Method 2 where the important data is in the citation. Re: Splitting Lumped sources but keeping citations intact?
I think I figured out what will work for me. FH 7 is just amazing.... I love this program.
I just noticed the little cog at the bottom of the sources box that lets me change from displaying the "Source Record" to displaying as a "Short Footnote". I'm happy

Splitting Lumped sources but keeping citations intact?
Hi Folks: My sources/citations are a mess, especially those that came from familysearch (downloaded automatically). I've been working a lot lately to clean them up. I have an issues with my familysearch source. I have once source and a little over 5000 citations. The problem is easily seen I think b...
