Re: Exporting Address field In FH to Description Field in FTM
Hi Mike, I re-exported the tree again and it's working now. I'm not positive what 'fixed it.' When I originally exported the gedcom, under preferences for FH I had the "Exclude fields that are not valid for Gedcom 5.5.1 checked, and "Exclude" selected for Other Applications's Gedcom Extentions. I se...

Exporting Address field In FH to Description Field in FTM
I am using the Export Gedcom Plugin to export a tree from FH 7 to FTM 2019. Everything seems to export just the way I want it except for the Address field in FH. I put things like Cemetary names, Districts, etc. in that spot. That field (the FH address field) seems to get lost in the export. Is ther...

Re: Audit RM Direct Import plugin
Yeah the citation merging issue was one that I reported to RM support the first time about March or so of 2021. And I've mentioned a couple of times in the RM forums. The duplicate citation merge in RM8 does NOT look to see if the weblinks (webtags) or attached media are different. If the citation t...

Re: Audit RM Direct Import plugin
On a side note, and this is probably not something you can fix in your plugin, there is also the duplicate place name bug that I was told should be fixed in an upcoming update to FH (that is where if you run place clean for instance in RM8, you easily end up with multiple copies of the same location...

Saving a link to the note's section?
I use Ancestral Sources Method 2. After submitting I've been going in and adding a link to the Citation: Note section. I just wanted to make sure I was missing a way this could be done when using method 2 (the note box doesn't show when using method 2). Example of where I'm talking about: https://i....

Re: Template issue when exporting back to RM8
It would seem that the citation information would be uploaded to Ancestry. Instead of being in the normal citation field, it would show up in the "Other Information" part of the citation (merged onto whatever else might have been in that FH7 Note section). If someone really wanted to look up the cit...

Re: Error when Running "Change Specific Fact Tab"
Hi Mark: I completely forgot about this forum thread. I tried out the revised plugin and it works perfectly. I did get a pop-up that I was converting an attribute (the residence) to an event (census) so I read the help file. The place, address, sources are all good after the conversion... thanks. Ma...

Re: Template issue when exporting back to RM8
Mike I'd say probably not to worry about a plugin (at least not for me). As I had mentioned I think, I never used the 'non-gedcom' parts of RM like tasks, research notes, etc. I was able to export a gedcom yesterday that imported into FH7 in the regular citation field (not as a template), all the me...

Re: Template issue when exporting back to RM8
Hi Mike and Mark: I again did a direct import into FH7 and then an export to RM8 via gedcom from FH7. I set everything to the defaults for Rootsmagic. This time there was no errors listed in the log file. It looks like the citations (.page as listed in FH7) were imported but into the wrong field: ht...

Re: Template issue when exporting back to RM8
Hi Mike and Mark: I've did a little more testing. I spend a good 20+ hours this weekend re-entering most of my data into the original RM 8 file that I had originally imported into FH 7 (I had entered that data into FH7). Anyways, I am able to export a gedcom from RM 8 and import it into FH 7 without...

Re: Template issue when exporting back to RM8
When I export from FH7 to RM8, the citation field is not importing into the RM file (only place I can find it is in the import error log). So I have good news and bad i guess. First, I did an export of the RM 8 original database (after I had cleaned the places and the version of RM 8 tree that was i...

Re: Template issue when exporting back to RM8
Thank you for helping Mike :) Yes, before exporting to RM so I could fix the places, The citation info was in the "Citation-specific: Where Within Source" field (which I just renamed citation for the label). Before when I've exported using a gedcom from Rm to FH, the fields stayed correct. Only with...

Re: Template issue when exporting back to RM8
Like Helen I want to be able to export data from FH 7 that includes the sources and citations so others whether on Ancestry or FamilySearch can have access to them. There have been several times where every tree I have found on Ancestry has the wrong data on an Ancestor. After a lot of hard work I f...

Template issue when exporting back to RM8
Hi Folks: I'm looking to use RM 8 as a program to export to in order to upload to Ancestry and Familysearch. The Project I'm working with was a direct import from RM 8. When imported into FH 7 it imported the citations as a "Free-Form" template. The problem is that when doing a gedcom export using t...

Re: Error when Running "Change Specific Fact Tab"
Mark: Just to make sure it was not a file path issue, I moved the project to my (internal) D drive root and shortened the folder names. The error is still the same. Just in case it might help you, I zipped and uploaded the RootsMagic Import.fhf file that seems to be causing the error. https://family...

Error when Running "Change Specific Fact Tab"
Hi Folks: I am trying to use the "Change Specific Fact Tag" plugin. I believe it will let me change some of my residence facts to census facts. Anyways the tree I'm running it on was a direct import from Rootsmagic 8. I get the following two errors: https://i.ibb.co/5k6hssC/error-fact-plugin.png Tha...

Plugin to Set the Title to be the same as the File Name?
Hi Folks: In a previous database I used the "Rename Selected Media Files (No ID)" to set the file name of media to be the same as the Title of the Media Record. Background: With this database I have a different issue: I had an issue at some point in the past with FTM 2019 with the media being attach...

Re: Amazon Fire tablet - view GEDCOM data
H Arthurk: The Amazon Fire is really just an android OS. I don't have any experience with specific programs for viewing Gedcom files on my fire, but what I thought I'd mention is you can run pretty much any app that will run on an android phone or that comes from Google Play on your Fire. I used an ...

Re: Finding and Deleting duplicated weblinks with Search and Replace?
Hi Mike: I hadn't noticed that section had been changed also. In RM8 I only used the default generic templates to avoid issues when moving to online trees, etc. with sources and citations. FH 7 during the direct import I guess makes some changes from the default. Here is a pic of that field: https:/...

Finding and Deleting duplicated weblinks with Search and Replace?
Hi Folks: I've been working on fixing up my wifes data on her side of the family. One issue I have is after importing from RM 8, I have weblinks that are duplicated on almost all citations (which is about 56,000). Here is what I'm talking about: https://familytreehelper.us/tree/Double_Links.JPG I fi...
