Re: Switching tips? (RM->FH)
This reply is probably too late for the original OP, but for others moving from RM to FH. One function that I found in RM 8/9 to be outstanding is the place clean (and maybe the name clean) feature. I had thousands of place names that were so messed up from combining Ancestry sources and FamilySearc...

Re: New version of Ancestry Synchronization plugin
I created a very short video to show what I'm doing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c22GAhJxrNo As you can see for some reason it is not 'keeping' the link after being selected. The version of FH I'm using is .21 and the latest version of RM 9 (9.05). The RM file opens just fine in RM. I have this ...

Re: New version of Ancestry Synchronization plugin
Hi Jelv and Mark: I had tried it both ways. First I had imported the exported ged file into a new RM 9 database. Then I selected the RM 9 database using the select button from the plugin, but nothing happened. That is no database or link to the database then showed in the plugin. Only then did I syn...

Re: New version of Ancestry Synchronization plugin
Hi Mark I must be dense... I'm not getting this to work for me with the new ancestry sync 2.0 plugin. First I exported the new gedcom. Then I imported it into RM 9 and synced it with Ancestry. Next when I click on the select button and choose the file, nothing happens. I can't get the plugin to sele...

Exporting Templates using the Essentials Collection to Rootsmagic
Quick question: If I decided to convert my census records to use the essentials templates of FH, is there anything I need to be aware of when exporting to RM 9? (I haven't used them yet. Just wanted to make sure all the data would be included. It doesn't matter if it all gets stuck in the title or w...

Re: Exporting to RM8 using modified settings in Export to Gedcom Plugin
Hi Mike: I ended up installing a trial verision of FH 19 on a different computer to do the export and it exported fine. On the computer I was using, as soon as I would click the run button nothing pops up. After I had posted below I deleted it and downloaded the latest version from the plugin store....

Re: Exporting to RM8 using modified settings in Export to Gedcom Plugin
Thank you Mike for working on that I appreciate it. My copy of FH 7 (latest version) seems to not be able to run it though. Each time I try to run the export plugin it freezes FH and nothing ever shows on the screen. I have restarted FH a few times, restarted my computer, changed to a smaller FH pro...

Re: direct import RM 9
I just tried a practice import from RM 9 to FH. From a quick scan looking at several ancestors it looks like everything imported properly. I haven't added any data to the fan club stuff yet in RM 9 or saved any searches but those likely would not import. It would seem that with an update FH 7 could ...

Re: Exporting to RM8 using modified settings in Export to Gedcom Plugin
Sure Mike I'm happy to help. Here are some comparisons: I did a full export using all the default settings to Rm. On the left are the default settings and on the right are with my modifications. (I also forgot to add that I used an sql statement to copy the citation webtag to the source webtag): htt...

Re: Ancestry Synchronization now in Plugin Store
Ok, Mark I'm an idiot when it comes to 'having' to use the latest version of software. I saw the blurb today for RM 9... so of course I had to buy it! Hopefully it won't be as buggy as RM 8 was when it came out. Tomorrow I'm planning on using your plugin to upload a new private tree to ancestry usin...

Re: Exporting to RM8 using modified settings in Export to Gedcom Plugin
Hi Mike: Sorry there may be a misunderstanding. On ancestry I have two trees now. The main tree that has all the sources, media. The other tree I'm starting to use the sync plugin with FH. Since there are no sources or media with the sync tree on ancestry I already understood that for the syncing it...

Re: Exporting to RM8 using modified settings in Export to Gedcom Plugin
My goal is to have two trees on Ancestry: The public tree with all the attachments, sources, media, etc. This one I have just been deleting and replacing every few months. This of course makes the hints impossible to use. So my idea is to use the Ancestry synchronization tool for a private tree just...

Question on the Ancestry Synchronization Plugin and Unique ID
This is a quick question. I would like to start using the Ancestry Synchronization plugin to keep a private tree updated for hints on Ancestry. When I run it, it says the individuals have to have a uniqueID. My question is: If I use the https://pluginstore.family-historian.co.uk/page/plugin/format-u...

Re: Exporting to RM8 using modified settings in Export to Gedcom Plugin
Hi Mike: Yes the main reason I wanted the url placed into the citation webtag was because of familysearch. What happens with the regular RMT settings is that neither the citation nor the source webtag get populated. Family search has a web url field that has to be manually filled in unless the sourc...

Re: Exporting to RM8 using modified settings in Export to Gedcom Plugin
Hi Mike: There was a difference in the number of citations because when RM imports a gedcom, it multiplies the number of citations. I had run the citation deduplication on that one file. After you mentioned that I re-ran the export again so I could get a pic without the deduplication: https://family...

Re: Exporting to RM8 using modified settings in Export to Gedcom Plugin
Hi Mike: Thank you for looking at this. Unfortunately I thought the same thing that if I selected the RM default settings and then changed just the Weblink to _LINK URL ( FTM ) it should work. There must be some code or something else though that causes the Weblink to _LINK URL ( FTM ) to not work w...

Re: Search and Replace plugin to delete text from all Note Record Types?
Hi Bill I guess when I asked I mistakenly thought that there were different note 'types'. I just wanted to delete the source notes. After looking at the tab you mentioned I can see there are a lot of other notes on other items. It works out though because the ones I want to delete are sorted and and...

Search and Replace plugin to delete text from all Note Record Types?
Hi Folks: I'm trying to clean up one of my databases that was imported into FH7. During the import about 10,000 + "Type: Note Record" were created. I looked at about 100 of them and they all are repeated elsewhere. Here is what I'm talking about: https://i.ibb.co/0XFDcHG/Note-Record.png I would like...

Exporting to RM8 using modified settings in Export to Gedcom Plugin
For a while now I've been using the settings Mike created to export to FTM (converting link tags to _link so they are inserted into the proper url field in FTM. I'm now at a point where I would like to do more with copying facts and sources to Familysearch. Since FTM doesn't do this I've been export...

Exporting Witness and shared Facts...
I've been considering using the FH 7 Witnesses Window for entering shared events. My question is: how well do these transfer by gedcom if i want to say export to RM or FTM to upload to Ancestry? The "Give Witnesses Their Own Facts" plugin seems to be more for when importing from other software... Is...

Thank you so much for the plugin. The plugin worked perfectly and moved the 1500 or so addresses to the correct place address field.

Importing Descriptions (addresses) from FTM to FH
Hi Folks: I met my Aunt for the first time since about 2003 today and I'm trying to help her with her tree. When I try to import her tree from FTM 2019 into FH 7 so I can work on it, FH doesn't recognize the place description and so categorizes the description as "uncategorized data." (It's the same...
