Re: Project Window - simple alteration
Can't remember if this is the case in every version of Windows supported by FH, but If I pin the FH icon to the taskbar or start menu, and hover on it, I get a list of recent and pinned projects to choose from, so I bypass that screen altogether on startup (unless I want to create a new project). I...

Re: 'Getting the Most From' ... V7?
If I researched properly. V6 came out in 2014. V6 book came out in 2018. Hope I got that wrong. 4 years gap.

'Getting the Most From' ... V7?
As a new FH user I am finding the V5 version of the book (free!) very helpful in getting me started with FH and basic workflows. But of course it is missing the new topics. The website is helpful but it is not developed like a training book. I am sure V6 book will fill in some missing item for V7 bu...

Re: Custom search help/advice
The reason there is two Date prompts is that they are two different value types. The first two Rows tab filters are Numbers (of years), whereas the EstimatedAgeAt parameters are full Dates. Mike thank you, this is what I was looking for ... the why. I also appreciate possible solutions. Thanks to e...

Re: Custom search help/advice
There is already a standard query in FH called Estimated Alive At . The best way to learn how to write queries is to start with an existing one which nearly matches your requirements. I suggest you make a clone of that query (use the cog menu>Save as Custom Query) and then experiment with that. Tha...

Working on my first custom query. Using it to learn how filters, functions, etc. work. My query is designed to find anyone alive (with estimation) in a certain year. Please see the attached pic. Top image is the column tab ... with an age column tied to a parameter ... date. The second image is the ...

Re: Rootsmagic->Family Historian
I am also going to make the move to FH from RM this year. I am going to take my time in doing the work. First is to learn FH to understand how to do "daily work". I hope an update the the FH6 book is soon on the way. Second is to determine what pre-work needs to be done in RM and what post work will...
