Most Recent Common Ancestor (MRCA) Fact Item
Recently I was working with an Adoption case and used the Adoption fact to include in the file. What impressed me was the linking to the adopted parents and that got me to thinking (then calling the fire department before I burned down the house   ). Anyway, I have failed at comedy! I woul...

DNA tab for Property Box
I would like help in creating a DNA TAB for the Property Box My basic idea is to have checkboxes for the testing companies listed at the top of the TAB with a 'freeform' checkbox for Other: - in case the match is for some other website. An area for the Shared DNA with the person who is the match: Sh...

Import CSV file from my Heritage
I have downloaded two files from MyHeritage DNA that indicates all my 16,000+ matches and the second indicates shared DNA segments. I would like to import them into a new tree to begin a project of working to the Most Recent Common Ancestor. Some prep work had been done in the past 12 months with An...

Re: Record Flags beginner level
Just a thought from someone who has come to this discussion late! I use a DNA Emoji in front of the name for everyone who has taken a DNA test and has matches with me. I must admit, it was not an original idea, but it helps to identify people immediately. While I wish it could be fancier than this: ...

Re: Backup and Restore Plugin
I have not tried it yet - saw the warning and wanted to make sure I did things properly.
Does the folder structure need to mirror on both computers? (i.e., I run from and extended drive on the hard drive on the main and from an SD card on the mobile.)

Is it possible to sync the setting for FH7 to be the same on two different devices? I customized on my main laptop and want to have the same setup on my mobile laptop. I use a network location for my data files that both computers can access. Only one computer can edit the data file at a time. The s...

Re: FH-RM-Ancestry Sync to exploit hints (update)
Thank you Mark for the detailed response. This make perfect sense. I like the interface of FH7 a lot better that RM8, but it is practically only useful for the TreeShare feature (IMHO). Any suggestion on how to get the WebTags (i.e., DNA Match, DNA Connection, DNA Common Ancestor) from Ancestry beca...

Re: FH-RM-Ancestry Sync to exploit hints (update)
Thank you Mark for your help. Currently, I use Treeshare to download a tree from Ancestry into RM8 then use the import into FH7. I work in FH7 because the interface is much superior to RM8. I make updates to the data in FH7 and then have to manually add the changes to Ancestry. After confirming some...

Re: FH-RM-Ancestry Sync to exploit hints (update)
Thank you for the work on the plug-in to resolve syncing an Ancestry tree with data in FH7. I was happy to find out that RM8 data is natively read into FH7, although with some limitation. I have read through the 54 posts in this thread and follow the logic involved. However, does the UniqueID plug-i...

Re: DNA Matching reports -- Clustering Spreadsheet and Generational Alignment Worksheet
Helen - thank you for your response. Each of us uses FH in different fashions. As mentioned previously, I am not including them in my active tree, I am preparing a MATCH tree for AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FTDNA and 23&me. Each company a separate tree so that I do not clutter my research tree. With...

DNA Matching reports -- Clustering Spreadsheet and Generational Alignment Worksheet
Literally, I am over my head in this discussion. I am currently pursuing a DNA course to get a better understanding on how to use the four genealogical DNA tests I have taken. I have THOUSANDS of potential matches - ranging for a sibling (YEAH) to who know what. Fortunately, maybe, these are all con...

Displaying branches of the tree
In FH7, how can I display branches of the tree? a branch would be tied to a particular 'ROOT' surname individual for all individuals in that branch. For example, using my paternal GGF as the ROOT, how do I prepare a listing of all the individuals (including spouses and children) in that branch of th...

Different text colour by GGF descendants
I know this is a limitation in FH (unlike other genealogy software packages) but I like the feature, especially when generating reports for relatives who might not know all the connections. I want to set up EIGHT colors per family line (8 GGF) that go from the tree top via a direct line to the lates...

Family Groups by ancestor lines
I am not really sure what I want here - although I know what I have seen in RM and Legacy that works. Basically, I want to separate my different branches of my tree to make it possible to view the full tree at the same time and be able to visually identify the various branches. Some software do this...

Re: Printing Sources on new page for narrative reports
Can I jump in on this printing question?
While doing various reports, I cannot find out how to separate generations to begin on a new page. Is it possible?
John

Arthur - what are your needs for a website? Do you need both front-end and back-end (CPanel) access? Do you have a domain name already? The "CLEAN UP SURNAME CAPITALISATION" plugin
As I import data from Legacy, RM, FTM, Gramps, etc. using GEDCOM files, some of the surname use UPPERCASE letters. The "CLEAN UP SURNAME CAPITALISATION" plugin is not indicated to work with FH7 and I could not get it to execute/run once installed. Is this feature included in the Query of FH7 or some...

Download images from Ancestry & MyHeritage
When I imported the GEDCOM files from my online accounts, it imported the URL for the images from each images/media attached to that individuals record.
Do I need to download each image individually or is there a quick way to get all the images downloaded the the local project folder?
