Installing on new computer - multiple computer issue?
Hi, First of all, to make this clear I'm helping my father out on this. I don't usually use Family Historian and I'm not at all familiar with how it works. I'm merely assisting with setting up and installation. Dad has had FH7 for several years. It's already installed on two computers - the maximum ...

Re: Multiple Icons... but no app
Let me start again - It's not actually my computer so I don't have constant access to it, and I was wrong on a few details.
The Mac OS version is in fact High Sierra, 10.13.16 and it is a late 2009 model with a 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 12GB RAM
It's running Windows 10

Multiple Icons... but no app
Hi, latest issue with FH. Although at the moment I'm trying to establish whether the issue is with FH, Windows, Mac or Parallels. When attempting to launch the app, the FH icon appears on the dock 10 or more times. The app, however, doesn't actually appear. Consulting the Windows Task Manager shows ...

Re: Copying and pasting incomplete
There's a famous saying about Assumptions... The short version of this is that I was mistaken as to which version was in fact being used. Having now updated to 7.2.7, the copy and paste function is now working as expected. Now the long version. 2 Things that may be helpful to know about me. 1. as pe...

Re: Copying and pasting incomplete
I can confirm that to the best of my knowledge, it's only Ancestral Sources that is displaying this issue. If it was something to do with either Open office or Mac, it wouldn't work with Family Historian - which it does. The Virtual Machine (Parallels) is using Windows 10, which I believe it would h...

Re: Copying and pasting incomplete
I don't know if it would make a difference if you were to try the original text that was being used?
That said, the same issue is appearing regardless of content. If it has a tab in it, it fails.

Re: Copying and pasting incomplete
are you suggesting that despite appearances, attempting to enter the data will result in the text being rendered correctly on the completed record?

It doesn't seem to make any difference whichever one is selected.

Re: Copying and pasting incomplete
Hi Nick, This morning we've tried your suggestion. Please note the following screenshots. Screen Shot 2021-04-22 at 09.43.28.png This was the original text as suggested, in Open Office on the Mac host machine. Invisible characters turned on for clarity. Copy and pasting the above into Ancestral Sour...

Copying and pasting incomplete
When trying to copy and paste text into Ancestral Sources, in the first instance from Open Office (Mac), the content that is pasted is missing any text on a line after a tab. It also renders a return where there was previously not one. The same content is rendered correctly by other Windows applicat...

FH, Parallels and Apple M1
Hi,
Just a thought, but has anyone here tried to run Family Historian on a Mac with the new ARM-based processors (M1) via Parallels or similar?
It's an option that we may pursue in the future and I'd be interested to hear how much success anyone has had in setting it up.
Thanks

Re: Custom Diagram settings
To preserve a set of custom Options needs them to be saved in a Custom Diagram Type using the Diagram > Save Diagram As > Custom Diagram Type... command. That is what has been done, but when re-opening the chart, the settings appear to be different from when they were saved in the first place.

Custom Diagram settings
Hi all, Whilst trying to figure out an issue to do with backing up and transferring files from one computer to another, ELM and I uncovered a different issue, so I will start a new thread to cover it since it is not entirely related. This comes in two questions. What relation does these buttons; Scr...

Re: Backup and Restore Family Historian error messages
I'm not sure what the confusion is?
The Icons folder is predominantly populated with .BMP files. There are some .EMF files which do not appear to work properly - note attached image.

Re: Backup and Restore Family Historian error messages
Hi Mike, Progress! Between us we reassigned all the missing icons from the custom Ancestors and Decendents diagram. After removing the Custom\Ancestors and Diagrams.fhdx and ._Ancestors and Diagrams.fhdx files, a backup was successfully made with no error messages. This is still using .bmp files for...

Re: Backup and Restore Family Historian error messages
Hello Mike, I'm trying to help ELM with this issue. Questions : What does the "CUSTOM\ANCESTORS & DESCENDENTS.FHDX" Refer to, and where can it be found? Having found the folder that you specified [C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Icons\...] we found that the icons in use by the diagram wer...

Re: FH v7 and windows emulators WARNING
My father has been trying to run FH v7 on his iMac via Parallels, but is experiencing the screen to be flickering when trying to load content. Could this be a related problem or something entirely different?
