Rootsmagic Names vs FH7 names
Rootsmagic has Alternate names such as married and other types. When exported to a Gedcom with Mike Tate's plugin, they are in the Gedcom. But unless I'm missing something, FH7 only makes use of them to view on the "more" dropdown on the main person screen. Would it be possible to write a plugin tha...

Meaning of colors in source box
This is mostly curiosity. In the yellow source box, some of the source record numbers are blue, and some are brown. I can't see what the difference is. Sometimes the 717 is brown, sometimes blue. Sometimes the color carries over to the citation text. Am I missing anything important by not knowing th...

Re: Synchronizing FH7 on two computers, many questions
I assume by source definitions you are talking about Source Templates which are held in the ProgramData folder. Yes, that is what I meant. I also have not used local facts because if I come up with something I like, I don't want to have to recreate it if I start a different database for some reason...

Re: Synchronizing FH7 on two computers, many questions
I want to make sure I understand. If I use the 'Backup and Restore FH Settings' plugin if I understand correctly, I would have to run it every time I switch computers, assuming I change something. For example, I'm changing fact and source definitions constantly right now. But if I use https://fhug.o...

Synchronizing FH7 on two computers, many questions
I have read https://fhug.org.uk/kb/kb-article/synchronizing-family-historian-settings-using-directory-junctions/ and understand it fairly well. I want to run the same version of FH7 on two computers both running Win 10. Both computers sync to Google Drive. Additionally, my media is stored in a folde...

Re: Unfortunate wording in FH help
It didn't bother me at all. In fact, my reaction was "oh good, something interesting". And I've had offline discussions with a couple people coming over from another product that were concerned because they were not interested in spending time on that kind of thing. Even though I have not used FH7 f...

Re: Citation specific fields in Bibliography
I would like one Bibliography for each person's profile, especially if there are multiple citations. I'd want their name for Author, the rest I could do without. It doesn't seem to be that a generic Facebook bibliography would be enough, although I guess it could be. For example at a minimum: Doe, J...

Citation specific fields in Bibliography
I would like to construct a source definition for Facebook that has a bibliography definition something like: {Author:Reverse}. Personal Page. Facebook. {URL} : {Post_date:YEAR}. {Title}. where Author, URL, Date, and Title are all citation specific. If anyone is wondering why I want to do this, pg. ...

Privacy brackets in places
From reading different posts I thought that a place, for example, San Diego County, California, [[USA]] would hide the USA in reports. However, in the individual narrative I get San Diego County, California, [[USA]] where I was hoping for San Diego County, California. I've looked for an option but n...

Re: Give witnesses their own fact error
Got myself straightened out. I did know about reversing changes, etc. And I had a backup. The problem was I've been messing around for so long that I had a lot of backups from the same day, and it took a while to figure out which one was the one I wanted. Anyway, I figured it out and ran the plugin ...

Re: Rootsmagic->Family Historian
I'm making notes of all of these things as I discover them, perhaps in a week or two I'll summarize what I've discovered and post it in some rational fashion so that the KB can be updated for other RM to FH folks. This really is that most surprising of things - a software package that gets MORE ama...

Re: Give witnesses their own fact error
I've made enough backups and projects to have myself confused. I got this plugin (1.3.2) to work once, and liked it. It seemed like it missed some of my census facts and roles but they are pretty messed up right now (too many similar facts and roles) and I may just be confused. I need to clean thing...

Re: Give witnesses their own fact error
It works great. Thank you! One thought, and it's personal preference. Other people may have different preferences. I like that you put a notation in the Note field as to if they were a principal or witness. But it would be nice if it were in privacy brackets as I print my notes. However, its easy en...

Give witnesses their own fact error
I'm running the "Give Witnesses Their Own Facts Plugin". I get the following error: Screenshot 2021-01-13 122917.png . My census records are custom census(family) facts with roles. I have looked at Charles Atkinson and the parent record and see no issues. I ran it with a different witnessed fact and...

Re: Removed ending period from Fact Note
Thank you! Again. Now that you ask, I need to investigate more. My imported data all contains a period at the end of every note sentence. I made custom fact definitions that include the note field at the end. I was ending up with 2 periods at the end of my sentences if there was a note. Now that I'm...

Removed ending period from Fact Note
Due to an import I would like to remove the last period in a fact note for every fact note. Only the last one. I'm still trying to get the hang of query's and LUA strings. Is there a way to do this in mass? FH7.
Thanks,
Jackie

{XXX} Symbol in out put of Rearrange Address Place and Parts
I'm using the Rearrange Address Place and Parts plugin to combine the Address parts with the place parts. I'm using 7 place parts and right justified them so the first 3 places were blank. Then I transferred by (3) Address parts to those blank fields. It worked except many, not all of my part 1 addr...

FH7 support got me an answer to the semi colon question. Just adding it here in case anyone else ever wonders. Re: Move data from one field to another in same fact
Is your custom Alternate Birth fact an Event or an Attribute ? It is an attribute, but the data from my import put the various dates in the date field. As it turns out, I only had a few of them done, so I put them back as separate alternate birth facts for now for consistency. I have a lot of other...
