Data reference for citation note
Is there a data reference for the citation note? I've looked but haven't found one.

Re: Need query help
Thanks Mike. Got it working. Part of my problem was I output one census year, but it wasn't necessarily 1930 depending on how many census there were. If the column output 1900, then that individual did have a 1930 census, it just wasn't the one displayed.

Re: Need query help
I had read those, and read them again. I'm not usually this thick headed. Here is what I've tried (only the rows, that is where my problem lies): Add if %INDI.CENS.DATE% contains text '1930' Exclude unless an ancestor of [""] Independently the top one gives me all the people with a 1930 census. And ...

Need query help
I think understand a simple query, like list everyone who died before 1940. But I can't figure out more complex ones. I would like a query that lists every ancestor (only ancestors) who has a 1940 census fact (specifically, has a census fact whose date contains 1940). I can make a query to show the ...

Sentence function confusion x 2
This is my somewhat convoluted sentence: {individual's} social security number was {value}. {individual} applied for it {date}. <{%CUR_PRIN.NAME[1]:FIRST%} was employed by {=GetLabelledText (%FACT.NOTE2%,"Employer:")}. >< {=SEX(%CUR_PRIN%, "He", "She", "Their")} was a {=GetLabelledText(%FACT.NOTE2%,...

Re: Add media to both source and citation
In my opinion, the FH Source tab setting to Combine Identical Citations should do exactly that. It applies the rule correctly to the Entry Date, Assessment, Where within Source, etc. But FH is not applying that rule to the attached identical images, which I think is a faulty implementation. Please ...

Re: Add media to both source and citation
I'm sorry. I did mean GedSite. Used Second Site years ago when I was using TMG. And I do use the Export Gedcom File plugin. Let's see if I can accurately explain. Excuse me if I get some of the terminology wrong. I understand a source vs a citation in genealogy, but am not clear about them in FH. I ...

Add media to both source and citation
I wish to add my media to both the source and the citation. Is there an easy way to do that? Or is the only way to link to the source and then link to the citation? For the curious, I plan to use John Cardinal's Second Site for web design. It handles multiple media attached to the citation very well...

Add Research Note Question
I read, but maybe misunderstood that if I don't want my autotext overwritten by an upgrade, I should put it in a custom folder in Manage Autotext. Here is what mine looks like: Manage.png But when I want to add one of those notes with Add, Research Note, my custom notes they are not there to use. Cl...

Re: FH7 Custom Census Source Templates
Thank you Nick, and you are right, I got the terminology backwards. And I tried a template with no citation fields and it does work as expected. I'll just have to decide what I want to do.

Re: FH7 Custom Census Source Templates
I'm jumping into this a bit late. I've been playing with FH7 for a couple months. I tried AS early on, but gave up. Now I'm trying again and have the same problem. And I think this thread explains it, but not sure. I tend to be a splitter. I have a custom vital records source definition for vital re...

Rearrange Place Parts plugin not working as expected
In the image below, I want column 6 copied to column 7, and column 6 to be blank. Then I want to manually add a dozen or so zip codes to column 6. 1.png This is my setup in the plugin, but it just says it didn't change anything. I'm not sure what I don't understand. I've read the help and the forum ...

Re: Census and residence used together
I struggled with this question for years and finally settled on the conclusion that a census is not a fact. It is rather a source document containing information about facts (residence, occupation, age, etc., etc). That has worked quite well for me over the years. I agree. I've taken some genealogy ...

Good point. Maybe I'll make a Census-Residence fact that says " In the census John was recorded at 123 street along with Mary, Tommy, and Joe.

Census and residence used together
I have been going back and forth if I want each individual to have their own census fact, or if I want the head of the household to share his/her fact with others residing there. My desire for sharing is because then you can make sentences that read John lived at 123 Somewhere with Mary, William and...

Re: Rootsmagic Names vs FH7 names
Taking the sample GEDCOM posted by Jackie, what would its converted FH form look like I'm not quite sure what you are asking. This portion of the gedcom in the FH project directory looks exactly the same as what I posted if that's your meaning. BTW: Primary Names in GEDCOM/FH are allowed Notes and ...

Re: Rootsmagic Names vs FH7 names
I am of the "keep it simple" school of thought. AltName Fact Type should be as similar to existing fact structure and usage as possible. I like your thought here, and the rest of the post. I am a little confused by your last statement: Oh, and yes, even the primary name can have notes and sources, ...

Re: Rootsmagic Names vs FH7 names
So the next step is to establish a comprehensive definition of all possible NAME structures and how to convert them. There are 7 options to what you call the Alternate Name in Rootsmagic, but all the sentences it generates are the same. The RM sentence template is [person] was also known as [Desc]<...

Re: Rootsmagic Names vs FH7 names
I'm a little late replying, had some other stuff to do.Where would you want them to be more visible than that?
I would like the ability to craft my own sentences, possibly with a date or sort date.
Her married name was Doe
He was called Joe between 1950-1957
etc.
