Re: Import of RM7 Citations
Progress! I look some more later, but it looks like it brought in all my custom templates. I'll play with them a bit later. However, it didn't do well on the RM Templates. It brought in #139 and #172, but they were incorrect. The fields were brought in, but the templates had data. I'll post the erro...

Re: Import of RM7 Citations
No apology needed. Bugs are part of coding. I'm just grateful you're doing this.Sorry about that. I'll check it out later when I get back home. The message is telling me where to look.

Re: Import of RM7 Citations
Real world data problems. I exported my RM7 database and imported it into FH7. Then I ran the plugin and got:
I chose not to rollback the changes, but as far as I can tell, the plugin did nothing.
I'll see if I have any clue about a nil HINT field.

Re: Import of RM7 Citations
Sorry to take so long to get back to you. Busy weekend. But I tried it this morning, it created templates and I was able to use them.
Thanks for looking into this.

Re: Import of RM7 Citations
I was going to try this, but I have about 100 custom citations in RM. If I run this will they all get pulled into my Source Definitions, even in a test file? Since I think FH stores them all in the project.

Re: Import of RM7 Citations
I'm going to try it this afternoon on a test database. I use almost all custom templates, so I won't miss the standard ones. I do understand your copyright concerns, but thought I would mention that SqlLiteTools https://sqlitetoolsforrootsmagic.com/source-templates-convert-builtins-to-editable-split...

Re: Import of RM7 Citations
I came to a similar conclusion. I've decided to stick with FH, but use the citations as imported. Perhaps tweak a few as needed, but like you, I have too much research to do to try to convert them all to templated. I likely will use templated sources as I find new information. Eventually I may start...

Re: Add "County" to second place field
That worked, kind of. Same example, after I run Search and Replace I end up with two places. And I experimented, it's because my original place had latitude/longitude. The replacement place does not. I'm not sure there is any way around this. I suspect I will have to decide which is more important t...

Re: Add "County" to second place field
Something isn't working quite right. To make it simpler, I made a dummy database with only one place: Wichita Falls, Wichita, Texas, United States Search Criteria: ^.*,·.+,·.*,·United·States$ Replace: %1,·%2·County,·%3,·United·States Search only is fine. When I run Search and Replace I get [string "...

Add "County" to second place field
My places are CITY, COUNTY, STATE, UNITED STATES very consistently. If something doesn't exist, it gets , space, ie: CITY, , STATE, UNITED STATES or , COUNTY, STATE, UNITED STATES. I would like to add the word County to the 2nd field, COUNTY. So Brown becomes Brown County, etc. I can reduce the work...

Re: Import of RM7 Citations
cwhermann, just wanted to offer some encouragement. I've been "playing with" going from RM7 to FH7 for several months. I like FH7 so very much more. But cleaning up sources and citations manually is overwhelming, and I'm debating sticking to RM7 for that reason. If you were able to write this plugin...

Re: Rootsmagic->Family Historian
I am definitely making the move. I started in December. It's going to be a lot of work because I am picky about my sentences and citations, and mostly use custom. And it's a learning curve. But the more I learn, the more I like FH. With the help of people here, most any problem I run into I can easi...

Re: Batch update to source names
True. But if I'm in the source box on the property tab deciding if I need to cite an existing source or make a new one, it's hard to tell what the existing citation is without the x. Citation.png Now I can tell right away if it's an old citation I need to replace, or if it's a new one I can leave al...

Re: Batch update to source names
Thanks all. I want the X to show up in the source list so I don't accidentally use them again. I'll backup and try the search and replace

Batch update to source names
I am working on updating all my sources to templated. I figured out how to query the records I want and/or make a list of them. All I want to do is add an "x" to the front of the short title. My guess is the search and replace plugin would do what I want, but I can't figure out the LUA pattern to us...

I got it working in FH7. And touching base with John Cardinal about GedSite. And I always download / screenshot the information.

Re: Data reference for citation note
None of those did what I wanted. Or maybe I used them incorrectly. I use GedSite for web pages. It is quite happy to make a valid link out of web addresses in a fact note. Or other notes, I think. What I was hoping to do, was use the note field on the citation to do the same thing. There is a simila...
