Re: FH v7 hangs

Thanks very much Mike, I will report it. I am now curious as to why there needs to be a search and replace plugin - does it have more powerful search parameters? It wasn't Durham actually I just used that as an example.

FH v7 hangs

Hi. I was trying to replace two spaces by one space in some of my entries. In the example which follows please note I have not entered the # characters, I have just used a # below to show where I have entered the space character. I can search for ##Durham and I get a list of fields containing that i...

Why are baptism and burial fact sentences being truncated in narrative reports?

An example of this problem. I have a Baptism fact. Date: 1 May 1909 Place: Black Notley, nr Braintree, Essex And a Burial fact. Date: 21 Dec 1976 Place: St Peter ad Vincula Anglican, Coggeshall, Essex The descendants narrative report produces these sentences (I have not amended the standard fact sen...

Probate fact sentences

A minor point but I have always wondered why the standard probate fact sentence is "{individual} had {his/her} estate probated". Rather than "{his/her} estate was probated". It is easy to change and I have done so, but the use of "had" in the current standard implies that the deceased took action to...

Maybe the forum needs a new tag - Gigastar?

Re: Adding relationship to Root to narrative reports

Probably me being dumb, but won't that omit the sentence for first cousins, and others who would be the same generation?

Re: Adding relationship to Root to narrative reports

Hi Mike. It works fine and was easy to add. Thanks. A bit of feedback in case it helps others. In the Descendants by Generation report the generation test also cuts out a lot of first (and no doubt other) cousins from having their relationship described. So I just used the text function without the ...

Re: Adding relationship to Root to narrative reports

Thanks Mike. Good news about the project specific approach, I will do that. On what I said about the Reports dropdown, I meant it would be nice to have this as an Option, say on the narrative report's Options Main Tab where you can for instance tick the box to add Notes, you could click a box to add...

Re: Adding relationship to Root to narrative reports

Mike. An implementation question. I have 3 FH projects. Will this amendment apply to all projects, or just the project I amended it in? And a supplementary, is there something in the GEDCOM definition that forbids this relationship to root from being an attribute or fact that we could simply add fro...

Re: Adding relationship to Root to narrative reports

Hi Mike. And now a reply to your question. I think it would inded be best after the 'was born' sentence. Good question about close relatives, and it would be a little redundant in those cases, but I could live with it. I can see how it could be done in diagrams and will try it out. I would be really...

Adding relationship to Root to narrative reports

Hi. Is it possible to add the relationship-to-root attribute to each person so that it appears in narrative reports, and on diagrams? So that for each person in the report it would say what their relationship to the root person was? The text in a report would be something like "Joseph Smith is the <...

Re: How related in list form

Hi. Is there a way to have this included in narrative reports please? So each person's description would include something like "grandfather of..." or "second cousin once removed of..." Thanks.
