Re: Check Installed Plugins Against The Store - Error when run
Thanks all. I have Win 10 running on another partition on my PC, but Win 8.1 with Media Player, somewhat modified and customised to my liking, has been my default OS for several years. I just need to find time to migrate all my programs across to Win 10, but I've been away from home a lot of late. I...

Check Installed Plugins Against The Store - Error when run
I am suddenly getting the following error when attempting to run the plugin - v3.1 on my PC (FH v7.0.15, Win 8.1)
The error does not occur when running the same plugin on my laptop (FH v7.0.15, Win 10)
Any ideas please?

Re: Showing/marking people as tentative
I add the relevant individuals to a named list and set a box condition which colours their boxes and sets a "question mark" icon beneath each box.

Re: Another Findmypast 1921 census discount
Why FMP got it? Commercial considerations, again not to be divulged, I suspect. I recall reading, around the time that the 1921 census was being released, that TNA invited tenders for the contract, setting out their requirements for the transcription and digitising of the census, and inviting bids ...

Re: Invalid double dates?
Given the infamous thread I saw in another place where the explanation of a discrepancy was not that the dates were written in an untrustworthy personal journal but that the dates were single dated and had been converted / perverted to the modern year twice , I think I'd prefer to play safe and dou...

Re: Report Options, Page Layout problems
Another confirmation. My custom headers and footers are still showing in the Page Layout preferences, but nothing appears in PDF reports, although as noted the headers and footers are present if the report is saved as an RTF document.

Re: GEDMatch, understanding results
Have you looked at the articles and videos under the Information heading on the right side of the home screen when you log in to GEDMatch? Andrew Lee also has a lot of useful GEDmatch videos on YouTube, some of which are linked to from the GEDmatch site: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id7JJ1NoTNk&a...

Re: Pictures - Frames moved
Ah, OK. Thanks Mike and Lorna. Of the misaligned frames notified to me though, only one had overshot the edge of the image. I had several more where the frame was no longer over the image at all. I had to zoom out to find the frames, which were positioned away from the image to the side, above or be...

Re: Pictures - Frames moved
I wonder if the problem is caused by some pixel resolution changes to the images on moving them to the new PC. I recently found a similar issue after discovering and running the Show Project Statistics plugin, which reported an "Unusual Multimedia Frame Area for Media File" for several images. On i...

Re: Recording DNA matches in Family Historian
I have a couple of questions. First - what is meant to go between <match> and </match> and where does that appear? What do you do if there is more than one common ancestor. I have a LOT of intermarriage in certain areas of Sweden which result in multiple lines in common. I'm not able to say which c...

Re: Show Project Statistics plugin and fact flags
Yes, that is what prompted my original post, because the help file states that "Marking a fact as rejected means that it will be excluded from diagrams and reports, and not used in calculating life dates, etc." I can confirm that all the warnings generated in such circumstances in my project do rela...

Show Project Statistics plugin and fact flags
I have only just become aware of this plugin, following its mention in the "Change Specific Fact - Error on run" thread. What a useful tool. I have already fixed several date typos in my project that I might otherwise never have discovered. I have a number of individuals though, where I have include...

Re: Most Recent Common Ancestor (MRCA) Fact Item
Have a look at Jane's Gedmatch custom fact: details and an explanation in an article linked from the knowledge base - DNA>Recording DNA Matches>Useful External Links>Recording DNA Matches in Family Historian. The matched individuals and MRCA(s) are recorded in the fact note and easily retrievable vi...

Re: Maximum length of %FACT.NOTES2& (or {note}), information being truncated
Yes, instead of using data ref {%FACT.NOTE2%} use template code {note} and the Note text should appear in full. I did not double-check the {note} code as the OP, Phillip, said he had tried it. However, that should work. Just as an example, almost the whole page of text in the attachment, following ...

Re: Maximum length of %FACT.NOTES2& (or {note}), information being truncated
I have not experienced this issue and have some long notes attached to various facts, but I tend to individually customise the fact sentence for each fact where I want to include a note attached to the fact, and just use {note} in the customised fact sentence template, rather then referencing it via...

Re: Help with box condition expression please
Thanks Mike, you are right that I would prefer to keep the formatting in the notes.
I will have a go at copying and pasting a tab into the expression tomorrow, and will also report the issue to CP.
Thank you again for your help.

Re: Help with box condition expression please
Thanks again Mike. I have it working now, after a fashion as I'll explain. But I never would have done it without your help, because I couldn't get your expression to work at first either. It turns out to be due to the fact that I used tabs between the label and the text field in my fact notes. Havi...

Re: Help with box condition expression please
Ah, thanks Mike. I did think that referencing the correct note might be the problem, but wasn't sure how to resolve it. However, there are two or more Gedmatch facts for many individual records, because as expected, my brother and I both share matches to many individuals, and I create a separate fac...

Help with box condition expression please
I have been using Jane's Gedmatch custom event and query for some time, and have a DNA helix icon set against diagram boxes for DNA matches to myself or other primary links (the person whose DNA test is matched against by the individual in the diagram box) using the expression %INDI.EVEN-GEDMATCH% a...

Re: Tracing an Ancestor in the Police Force
An email address beginning with "archives" may not exist for every force. If you have a clear and detailed image and approximate date, it may be possible to identify or narrow down the force concerned from details of the uniform, such as collar insignia other than the numbers, the shape of the helme...

Re: 1841 census showing children who were dead
However, unlike 1911, in 1841 the people did not enter their own census details but they were compiled by an enumerator. Agreed Mike, but Sallion asked if anyone else had come across deceased people appearing in a census and how they recorded it. Mick and I both gave our opinions in answer to that ...
