Re: New browser engine and file downloads
If you go to top right corner of edge browser, and click on a "down" arrow, then "three dots" you'll get a menu for download settings, I have mine set to a desktop folder 'Pending' from which I can organize Hope that makes sense !! Cheers Ian That is correct for the standalone Edge browser, but the...

Re: New browser engine and file downloads
BTW Did you realise you can drag and drop the downloaded files direct from the list at the bottom web window to the media tab at which point they get copied into your Project. Yes (and no). I was aware of the ability, but never tried it as I'd assumed the file just got copied with it's original nam...

Re: New browser engine and file downloads
If you right click and select save as you can then select the location. Only as a .PNG file though Jane, and at a substantially reduced resolution. I just tried with a census page from FMP. The JPEG image downloaded via the FMP download link is 6784x4768 pixels and 300dpi. The same image from a rig...

New browser engine and file downloads
My one irritation with the Edge based internal browser so far, is that it seems to only permit downloading files "as is" directly into the users' Downloads folder, unless I'm missing an option somewhere? Chrome (and AFAIR the previous FH/IE based internal browser) allow the opening of a file browser...

Re: FH 7.0.7 and Web 2 installer
Ah, I'm running 8.1 and got the prompt on my initial install of 7.0.6, but updated to 7.0.7 from the FH internal menu and I wasn't asked again.

Re: FH 7.0.7 and Web 2 installer
Upgrading from 7.0.6 to 7.0.7 using the internal FH "Check for Updates" menu link appears to be a seamless single action, but when I installed 7.0.6 (the first version to use the new web engine) from the external file link that CP sent me, there were separate prompts for the installation of FH and f...

Re: New version 7.0.6
As seems to be the norm with v7 incremental updates, it is soft released via the download link on the CP website, and assuming no show-stopping bugs are reported by the more limited user base, will no doubt be notified as an update through FH in due course. I believe several users have been running ...

Re: Find My Past support ending
I have recently been sent a new FH build in response to a bug I submitted, and it includes an optional new internal browser engine which seems to be working well and is noticeably faster, so I would assume it will be rolled out in the next incremental update.

Re: Existing sources Again
I work in a similar way, and my solution is to find the nearest source to what I want, click on it and copy the title section. I then go to the fact I need to source, click add new generic source, then I paste the copied details into the new title box. This is a new source, so I am able to edit it ...

Re: Where Used Record Links v List All Citations for All Sources
To obtain the total number of records for each type of record use the File > File Statistics... command. Getting the total number of items in all the records would need a plugin to count them. Yes, I know about the File Statistics command. The totals that command reports were the ones I initially g...

Re: Where Used Record Links v List All Citations for All Sources
@RS3100: Thank you for the feedback, but note it is the total number of entries in all the records in the Project that must be searched by the Plugin to find the where used links that is probably more important than the number of records whose links are being discovered. OK, I don't know how to cal...

Re: Where Used Record Links v List All Citations for All Sources
Phew! :D Glad that worked OK. It sounds like your PC is a bit more powerful than mine. I'll wait to see if the other two guys who posted give it a try before I publish. Working fine for me Mike, including the progress display, though I only have just over 1100 sources and 1250 media records to run ...

Re: Where Used Record Links v List All Citations for All Sources
I have a much smaller project in comparison, but I also never see the progress bar move past 1%. It sits at that point for a few seconds until the plugin completes, but no issues with the plugin otherwise. I use it fairly frequently.

Re: How to record church or other donations by ancestors
Thanks Helen, a "miscellaneous" fact seems a good idea. I'll have a play with that. Part of the reason I asked was that I didn't want to create a specific fact that, as you suspect, would be little used elsewhere if there was a better method. I suspect that I was probably overthinking the question a...

How to record church or other donations by ancestors
In a parish marriage register I am looking at, the first four pages consist of handwritten lists of monetary donations by villagers for "paying Mr Valentine's bill for attending those sick persons in the Parish who do not come under the denomination of paupers" and resultant expenditure, together wi...

[Wish List ref 574] "Select All" menu item for Records Window lists
I would appreciate the ability to quickly select all records in any of the records window lists, from a "Select All" menu item either in the right-click context menu, or the Lists menu. Alternatively, allow Ctrl-A to select all items in a list when in the Records Window.

Re: Selecting all records in the Records Window
There is a workaround you might like to try. [...] Ah, thanks Mike. I'll try that. @Gowermick although I said scroll, I do nearly always use the slider bar, but I was hoping for a single click context menu item or a single use key combination. I think I may well add "Select All as a right-click con...

Re: Selecting all records in the Records Window
Ctrl-A works in most programmes, give that a try(I’m not at my PC at the moment) No, I've tried that, along with various combinations of other modifier keys. There doesn't seem to be anything I can find that works. I run the Where Used Record Links plugin quite regularly to check for any irregulari...

Selecting all records in the Records Window
Is there a quick way/shortcut to select the entire list of records in a Records Window, for example before running the Where Used Record Links plugin? I'm not fluent in Dutch languages, but I believe the language is a West Germanic derivative, in which case the preposition "um" could mean at, around or about, according to Wiktionary.

Re: Ancestry data
On Ancestry, you can keep your tree private so that it cannot be viewed by other users, and at the same time choose whether or not to allow it to be indexed for searches. If another user obtains a match to someone in a private but indexed tree via their own searches, they cannot see any further info...

Re: How to remove prepared citation
Thank you for your reply. I had tried that but it doesn't delete, have tried delete, right click delete -- It doesn't serve any purpose so far as I can see. The last used prepared citation is stored persistently between sessions until overwritten by a new iteration. So even if you delete it, as soo...

Re: All Relatives chart has drawn incorrect lines
I am on 7.02 ! so not properly fixed then! Oh dear. I had an instance of overlapping lines just like yours, plus a couple of instances of lines crossing through or over boxes. I still had V6 installed in a VM and it displayed the same charts correctly, so it appeared to me that the positioning of l...
