Re: 1921 UK Census AS Source Template
Ruth, It is possible, but with caveats. The column headings that appear in the data entry grid are just hints to help identify the corresponding column on the census form when transferring the information from the form into AS. If you hover the mouse pointer over any of the column headings, a text b...

Re: Occupation Address - 1921 Census
You can optionally save the contents of the Employment and Place of Work columns to a local note in the individual's Occupation fact or the census fact. I'm not in a position to check right now whether the 1921 census template I uploaded does that by default, but if not it can be altered to your pre...

Re: 1921 Census - Finding an address from the enumeration district reference.
Ah, thank you Tim. TNA implied that the information existed but just referred to their "partner site", but although I found the RD and SD references on FMP, I missed the institutions and prisons. Now bookmarked!
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Re: 1921 Census - Finding an address from the enumeration district reference.
... But, I can't find any information about enumeration district allocations that would identify the address or area allocated to a specific ED number. ... For individual household schedules, the Extra Materials allegedly includes a description of the ED. I take it there's nothing similar for an in...

Margaret, The "Marriage or Orphanhood" column in the 1921 census, which is dual purpose according to the age of the individual, uses the existing AS built in "MarriageCondition" function, with the additional options for Both Alive etc. added to the drop down list. To quote the AS help for the census...

Re: Viewing 1921 Census Address
David, that's what I said. But if the OP didn't access the extra materials at the time she originally viewed or downloaded the main image, the only way back to them is to repeat the search. Revisiting the main image through "My Records" only offers a file download of the main image again, or it did ...

Re: Viewing 1921 Census Address
If you click on the "Extra Materials" button displayed above the filmstrip when viewing the main census form image on FMP, you get access to the "Front" image which contains the address, the "Cover" image which has the Piece Number, RD, SD and ED on it, and usually a district map associated with the...

Re: 1921 Census - Finding an address from the enumeration district reference.
Resolved. Someone on RootsChat has given me the name and year of birth of the Master Of Romford Union workhouse in 1921, and he's amongst the individuals returned on searching the enumeration district number, together with (presumably) his wife and daughter. So I'm fairly certain it is the workhouse...

1921 Census - Finding an address from the enumeration district reference.
I have downloaded a 1921 census page image for a 3 year old individual who is obviously in an institution and shown as a patient, sequential number 246 on the form. The institutional sheets differ in appearance from the household forms. The box for the address of the building or institution on the "...

Re: Duplicate listing in 1939 Register
The National Archives article linked above also explains that the postings column was used for National Registration purposes as well. Possibly changes of address could have taken up some room in relation to that. My father's National Registration Identity Card contains several changes of address as...

Linda, do you mean that when you use the "Auto" text button in AS that the information that you have entered in the grid re the children isn't appearing in the generated source text? If so, I can't reproduce that. The number of children and their ages populate as per the information I have entered i...

Re: Record Census Data (UK) updated for 1921
I've just downloaded a page which has the possibility of cracking a long standing DNA puzzle of mine, but the associated schedule (front) page has not been completed. The address is completely blank :( I've contacted FMP to ask if they can help without expecting me to speculatively search through ot...

Having had the opportunity to use my template against a few "real life" completed 1921 census forms this morning, I have made a few tweaks to it, and have attached the new version below to keep everything hopefully in this thread going forward. I have removed the column titled "Industry". It does no...

I have, although it is my first attempt at creating a template. I have tested it on the sample project and it appears to be working as intended, but you may wish to test it yourself as well. Any improvements or suggestions are also welcome.

Re: FMP Hints count wrong
Since the "more efficient" internet data matching, eliminating unnecessary data calls, introduced in v7.0.9, I find that after a while, accepting or rejecting hints stops updating the main hint screen or number of hints count, and I have to accept or reject each hint twice before the page/count refr...

Re: Quick sanity check on backup and restore of AS settings
I would imagine that creating a backup with FH7 options enabled and restoring it to a copy of AS being used with FH6 may well cause problems, even if only that those functions might be effectively disabled, but Nick is probably the person who can answer that best. But the various FH7 only options se...

Re: Quick sanity check on backup and restore of AS settings
The only issue as I see it is that various file paths are included in the Ancestral Sources backup .xml file. Rather than attempting to list them all, if you open the .xml file in a text editor and scroll through it you will see them. From memory, they include the AS backup and settings folder paths...

For an apparently illegitimate ancestor, whose father is unknown and entered i...
