Re: Unwanted source information uploaded to Ancestry
Thank you, that makes much more sense. I don't think there is any need to keep it really, is there? Now the next bit.... It might also be possible to export to FTM and still sync with Ancestry. See the 18572|FH -> RootsMagic -> Ancestry (Work-in-Progress) topic on interacting with Ancestry via RM. B...

Oh my! Thanks for the quick reply. I now feel completely out of my depth
I'll see if I can work slowly through your answer and try to make sense of it.

Unwanted source information uploaded to Ancestry
I have been working more in FH recently and wanted to update my tree on Ancestry. I have never uploaded this way via GEDCOM before, as I previously did my research in Ancestry then synced to FTM. So I exported the GEDCOM from FH and used it to create a new tree in Ancestry which I wanted to make pub...

Re: Best way to index my collection of church register images
I’m not sure if it would suit your project but I use MemoryWeb for family photos and some certificates etc. It allows you to tag name, date and place which can then be used to search and reorganise however you wish. It might suit your purpose but is difficult to describe. Best just have a look at th...

Thank you, Peter, for clarifying that. I had never even thought about a difference between an abbreviation and a contraction. Every day is a learning day!

Re: Saint and Street format conventions
Thank you, Brent and both Mikes. I like the idea of St.Mary without a space and I think the full street, road, avenue or whatever is probably a good solution. And apostrophes, although grammatically correct, are not really necessary in this context. Autotext is definitely the way forward and having ...

Saint and Street format conventions
I would like to know if there are any established conventions for entering church and street names in Place and Address fields. I know I have been very inconsistent in this and the small bits of punctuation are important when doing searches so I would like to chose one and stick to it but which one?...

Re: What is main difference between version 6.27 & version 7
I tick some of those boxes about age and level of tech skills and so far my favourite improvement is that the software re-opens on the person that you were last working on. A small tweak but it makes life so much easier. My other joy is the formatting of the Auto text box at the bottom of an AS entr...

32 bit or 64 bit
Can someone tell me how I find out whether I need to download the 32 or 64 version of AS7, please? I don't know what they mean so I don't know where to look for the answer. I'm using Windows 10 on a laptop PC.

Short and long titles for Birth Entries.
A few months ago I did lots of inputting via AS and thought I had cracked how to do it. Today I have gone back to add a couple of new certificates and I don't seem to be able to get the information that I need into the titles. I am using Method 2. I have added my own source in the title 'Birth certi...

Re: Really Useful Show
I had a great day at the Show yesterday and managed the IT OK after a bit of trial and error. I listened to the first live talk then decided to spent most of my day chatting to people via the stalls and groups. The 'expert' that tried to answer my query was not very helpful and basically after drawi...

Re: A visual marker for a 'provisional' relative
I use images from a website of Victorian images http://www.victorianpicturelibrary.com/ to represent my ancestors' occupations and also for children who died as infants which helps me to remember who's who when they all have the same names. I like the Brick wall idea. I must add that to my media lib...
