Re: Backup missing files
Sorry to be awkward Rick, but you say 19629|Scandinavian letter capitalization was resolved. However, there seems to be nothing in that thread explaining how it was resolved. Could you please describe the solution as it may be relevant to the Project Backup problem. Furthermore, I have just perform...

Re: Backup missing files
Hi Bill, Yeah I'm absolutely positive. The files are entirely missing from all my backups. I never would have noticed had I not switched to a new computer. This isn't the first time I've had an issue with Scandinavian characters in FH ( 19629|Scandinavian letter capitalization resolved) and I suspec...

Backup missing files
I recently switched to a new laptop and used a backup to move my project. I've just now noticed that all media with Scandinavian letters in its name (Æ Ø Å) is missing. At first I thought it had something to do with the language setting on my new laptop, but I then checked the ZIP files for my backu...

I appreciate the help, Bill. But I'm specifically inquiring about the flags.

Importing flags from FH tree
Hello,
I recently got a new computer and moved my family tree using a full backup. Is there any way to recover my custom flags from the old computer? Should I refrain from making any edits to the tree until it's sorted?
Kind regards,
Rick

No, I misunderstood Mike's question.
Thank you for trying.tatewise wrote: ↑21 Jul 2021 14:22If that does not fix it then you will have to call on Calico Pie for assistance via http://www.calico-pie.com/osticket/open.php.

Re: Scandinavian letter capitalization
Changing the font to Tahoma made no difference. I haven't customized the FH Font settings, and clicking Restore to Default didn't do anything. Copying and pasting the name off the website didn't work either. Here's a sample GEDCOM: https://filebin.net/1kgyt1ihkyvlwp3m https://i.postimg.cc/yNPpNG0C/0...

Re: Scandinavian letter capitalization
Yes, my bad for picking this sub. I should have started the thread in General Usage. Sorry for the trouble. Restoring the Text Scheme doesn't fix the issue. Changing the font doesn't work either. The initial font was Arial. I tried a few different ones, all of which support accented letters. When I ...

Re: Scandinavian letter capitalization
I do have version 7.0.7 installed. It appears only to apply to the Diagram. The caption at the top of the Property Box is fully in upper case. I tried restoring the installation defaults on the diagram, but it didn't fix the issue.

Re: Sacndinavian letter capitalization
Bill Hi Bill, Thank you for your answer. I am indeed using the latest version. I can see now that I've done a poor job of explaining the issue. The software does support Æ Ø and Å, but these letters are not automatically capitalized with the rest of the surname. It's a cosmetic issue with the defau...

Scandinavian letter capitalization
The software is unable to automatically capitalize Æ Å or Ø. I don't remember having this issue in the previous version, but I may be mistaken.

[Wish List ref 575] Age calculator support for alternative calendars
The age calculator doesn't appear to support mixed calendars. I work with a lot of records from Eastern Europe, where the Julian calendar was in use up until the early 20th century (see list of countries bellow). The difference between the two calendars is very small: rising from 10 days in the 17th...

Multiple dates
How would you deal with multiple dates for the same fact (not necessarily different dates, but in different calendars)? There's no right answer, but I would appreciate your input. I have a large Jewish branch originating in the Baltic countries, and I must juggle between the Georgian, Julian and Heb...

Autocompletion of source author
Nothing huge. Just a quality of life improvement. I would like the source author to autocomplete once I've typed a few letters based on earlier entries.

Thank you, David and rakow. That is precisely what I was looking for: A way to keep everything in a single tree yet mark the missing connection.

Welcome to the FHUG Rick. If you use the Search... box top right and enter DNA it will list a great many associated discussions. I advise you tick Year of Posting for 2020 and 2019 to get only recent ideas. I am sure others will give more specific advice. Thank you. I read several threads, but I co...

Marking and connecting DNA relatives
I have two questions, but since they are related I'll post both here. First, is there a way to connect individuals with an unknown common ancestor? I have several DNA relatives with a conclusive yet missing link: testing several of their cousins has allowed me to pinpoint their earliest ancestor wit...
