Re: Census versus Residence
Sadly, many of the Ancestry-generated Residence facts lack critical info that I think needs to be in the Census event citation, so I believe the best approach is a do-over. I'm okay with it. I run multiple monitors, so easy enough to have a browser window open to the original image and key data into...

Re: Help with custom Census Autotext format
Thanks to you both. Wasn't considering multiple people at the moment as I was dealing with an older census, but I see the point. Ancestry can only represent one person in that manner, so...
Also, good to know that website generation can address this! I can live with it in that case!!

Re: Census versus Residence
Understood. I was planning on just leaving them there for now... Are you suggesting that I change them or delete them? I have the add Residence option disabled for census in AS, btw. Also, will the individuals in my census lists be removed if I change/delete the residence? I assumed the lists were s...

Help with custom Census Autotext format
Good Day, I'm a new user of AS, but wondering if what I desire is possible. I've looked at the options for Census Autotext and they offer several possibilities for presenting the data as text. It seems, however, that the existing options all present the data in simple delimited format that lists all...

Re: Census versus Residence
I understand and am in agreement with the norm for using the census entry. I went the other way for convenience and now I will pay for it. Switching to FH means getting my sh$t together as far as my research is concerned, so I'm focused on making it right (again). I'm still feeling AS out and will b...

Census versus Residence
Not sure where this topic goes, but as I am still cleaning up the importation, I thought this might be a starting point. I know that it's AS-related, but also relates to the way I use and cite Census data, which might require a different importation approach. (that's my theory and I'm sticking to it...

Re: Dealing with MAP, LATI/LONG in import GEDCOM
Thanks you all. I am familiar with the use of commas to break out placenames and address fields. (It's been a while since I needed to, but I do remember and have no problem with it.) I'll go this route and see how it feels.

Re: Dealing with MAP, LATI/LONG in import GEDCOM
Mike, I thought I understood clearly until I read the KB article you linked to, since the article suggests that I do the opposite (use address for street level, church names, etc.) I read your message as "stop using the address field", but now I wonder if your suggestion to put it all in the Place f...

Re: Dealing with MAP, LATI/LONG in import GEDCOM
Thanks for the quick responses! So, it sounds like I need to keep these for now and think about it these over time, since I have some ADDRESS fields that might contain a specific, otherwise unknown location, as in a burial event that contains: PLACE: Pike, Alabama, United States (where Pike is a Cou...

Dealing with MAP, LATI/LONG in import GEDCOM
Good day, Just purchased Family Historian 6.27 (FH) and am very excited to be making the leap from RootsMagic 7 (RM). Have been reviewing many forum posts re; export/import and dealing with RM's unique GEDCOM ID's. I have managed to remove the superfluous UID and AMTID records via the UDF list and p...
