Re: Crossover/PlayonMac/Linux winhttp download problem
SUCCESS!!! Removed the library completely from the Wine instance and reinstall using the POL interface. After clicking yes several times to the "Do you want to try again?" error when downloading the files, POL proceeded to download W2KSP4_EN.EXE. Installation of the library was successful, so I star...

So, there ya go.
switched the library configuration to prioritize Builtin vs. native and vice versa, but this has no effect.

Re: How to filter #RN notes with the Gedcom export plugin?
I think the Help & Advice for Basic Options says it all: [[private]] Text Option choices: ◦ EXCLUDE removes all [[private]] text from every text field ◦ INCLUDE retains all [[private]] text but removes the [[ brackets ]] ◦ KEEPALL retains all [[private]] text including the [[ brackets ]] So yes, yo...

Re: Crossover/PlayonMac/Linux winhttp download problem
Okay, I have vanilla install of FH 6.2.7 using the sample project. Using POL to do the initial install, I selected the winhttp library to be installed into the Wine virtual and have now confirmed that it is installed in this virtual Wine instance, to wit: (002).png The same result can be accomplishe...

Re: Crossover/PlayonMac/Linux winhttp download problem
I can check it. I'm setting up a an FH demo instance now. POL offers to install libraries at setup, although they are the same libraries that Wine offers to install in any virtual instance. I have better success using Wine directly to do this, but I'll try both ways just to be thorough.

How to filter #RN notes with the Gedcom export plugin?
I've been using the Gedcom export plugin with good success to export my TNG website. I also use the Find-Research-Notes plugin and mark my research notes with the tag #RN and enclosed with double brackets. i.e. [[ This is a research note #RN ]] On the Gedcom export plugin settings, I have the [[priv...

Re: Crossover/PlayonMac/Linux winhttp download problem
PlayOnLinux Presumably, PlayOnLinux will have the same Configure > install components option for winhttp . It may be necessary to contact JP Ford to ask him to experiment. Yes, you can install virtually any standard windoze library using the Wine configuration interface. There are >500 libraries av...

Re: Improve Website plugin error
My plugins (MultiFact and Research Planner) use my own standard boilerplate code, not derived from Mike's. Trying those (to determine if they share the same problems or not) might help zero in on the problem causes. I can confirm that Research Planner does not share this issue. Works perfectly once...

Re: Improve Website plugin error
Most of my Plugins have multiple popup windows. Colin has not reported problems with Crossover , but POM probably needs investigation. I haven't had any other problems with normal popups and message windows with FH plugins (yours and others) under POL. Only the Improve website one as noted. Do the ...

Re: Improve Website plugin error
There are 1000's of media files in my data. I did check to see if other screens were hidden; there were none. POL is nothing but a front-end for Wine, so if Wine supports it, POL supports it. I can confirm that Wine supports all the behaviors noted. Any message window that was created would have sho...

Re: Improve Website plugin error
Just an update on this plugin after the changes here; After downloading all the icons, I tested the plugin and found that it mostly worked. The "Turn non-image Media into icons" feature was totally unresponsive upon clicking it. Then the plugin greyed out and both the plugin and FH were simply froze...

Re: Issues with plugins under linux, wine, and playonlinux
Mike - I've always used VirtualBox if I had a choice; it's low overhead, open-source, and very fast under Linux. I was running FH and RM together on a Windows 7 x64 VM before switching to POL. I've simply reverted back to it. Ancestral Sources also works fine in that configuration. I've mapped to lo...

Re: Issues with plugins under linux, wine, and playonlinux
Sadly, after all the efforts by Mike and others, numerous tweaks and hacks, etc. I've decided to abandon running my FH on PlayOnLinux and return to running FH in a VirtualBox VM. Trying to get and maintain FH working in POL is just too much trouble, IMO, and results in a less than satisfactory appli...

Re: popup hints in plugins
So, here's an interesting outcome; the first option, change to iup_gui.Balloon = "NO" , has zero effect on the Search and Replace plugin. That surprised me, as it would appear to be a global function. However, the behavior and the popup form is unchanged from the video I posted; I double checked tha...

Okay, using one of your bold examples example then,

OR is it

Okay, I'll give those a shot today starting from least to most drastic. Re: popup hints in plugins
Graphics generally are not an issue in POL and tooltips in other Windoze-based apps seems to work fine in POL (although you can usually disable them which I tend to do). So, in my case, this behavior is restricted to the FH plugin and doesn't happen in other windows apps. In both Change Any Fact and...

popup hints in plugins

Even when they appear correctly, they can be quite annoying, flashing frequently and causing the focus on the main plugi...
