Re: Query: count of multiple name occurances
Adding Exclude if %INDI.NAME[2]% to the Rows tab restricts the query to just those with alternate names. The beauty of Jim's query is that double clicking one of the alternate names opens the property box on the All tab with the alternate name selected. Also if you see an alternate name of just a co...

Re: Dealing with 'ORPHAN' record
Parish registers can lack sensitivity - but I have found bishop's transcripts far worse - the person making the transcript sometimes think it his (/her?) duty to add a "commentary" - particularly for baptisms of illegitimate children! (Thinking of some Cumberland registers - Carlisle Diocese) I cam...

Re: BMD District, Sub-district and County.
I've just come looking for answers to the same query (spookily similar in that my grandmother was also born in Bethnal Green as per the original post but the birth was registered at Mile End Old Town, sub-district Eastern). Slight difference in that I'm still using generic rather than templated sour...

Re: Clean up Surname Capitalisation
Unfortunately this doesn't catch dodgy capitalisation, e.g. SMith or all lower case. I've started to look at what could be changed - so far managing to detect wronguns by changing line 55 from if strSurname == strSurname:upper() then to if strSurname ~= captialise(strSurname) then Trying this I've d...

Re: Specific GEDCOM export?
Would turning it round and creating a named list of everybody to be excluded from the extract be an option? This could be done using queries. Then when you come to do the export, first add everyone then remove those not to be exported using a query.

If you start the latest version of AS from the Windows start menu (not through FH) and go in to Tools, Options, do any of the folders refer to the E: drive?

Re: Parking some material for the KB here until I get around to it
One thing I suppose I could do is add another variable for record or focus window, forcing record if the Id begins with F. I'd probably make the default focus for individual (and record for family) if the parameter was omitted- or just do that anyway without the extra parameter.

Re: Parking some material for the KB here until I get around to it
There's some duff information in there - see https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=120308#p120308 for what I discovered. I've also created a script that makes it easy to create different shortcuts using parameters. The family option only works with the recordwin option (makes sense as the fo...

Re: Renaming filenames
If all your folders (including the one you need to rename) are sub folders of the projectname .fh_proj\Media folder, for what you need to do you don't need to use a plug in - it's much simpler than that: Rename the folder to what it should be in Windows Explorer In Family Historian select External F...

Re: Two household houses in 1921
On the 1911 census, one of the documents revealed by the Extra materials button is a list. That would show where there are multiple schedules for the same address. See bottom left on the attached.
The one image I've looked at in the 1921 census doesn't have the list.

Findmypast 1911 Census images
Looking at images from the 1911 census there is an Extra materials button (same as in the new 1921 census).
Has that always been there or is it new?

Re: Family History Multi-Project Person Index
Based on the information Jane posted and the output from her plug in, I've come up with a general purpose batch file that can be called from the command line with an individual or family id and a project name. It assumes all your projects are in the same projects directory Extract the command file f...

Re: Family History Multi-Project Person Index
Is there a command line option to start fh on a specific project focussing on a specific individual? If not, perhaps that should be a wish list item as it would enable other things (e.g. windows shortcuts).

Re: Show Project Statistics discussion
Sorry, I was making a general point about the behaviour of tables and column resizing in FH. What's odd is that it's not consistent. The table in the plug-in behaves fairly nicely, dragging the divider on a column header resizes that column and moves all the following columns, changing the size of t...
