Re: Property box icons

Worth adding to explicitly state that if none are enabled the More column is not shown as that would make Helen and others who would like the column removed happy?

Re: Property box icons

At present the width of the more box is set to allow for three icons. If the option 2 to separately enable/disable each type is implemented, it should size the column according to how many are enabled. If none are enabled the column would not be shown. A minimum size would be needed if only one was ...

Re: Preserve and Hide/Show Columns

One issue with hiding the Source Rec column may be that this dictates the split between the field name and the data when the source/citation is expanded - but that doesn't work well now (never mind if the column could be hidden). At the moment the width of the last two columns starts always the same...

Re: Property Box icons

Are we all agreed on the initial request of an icon to show when a fact has a source/citation using the Source record yellow scroll icon? If so can that be added to the wish list so we can vote on it? The rest of the points need further refining.

Re: Preserve and Hide/Show Columns

There's something really odd with the Source Rec - on sources created by some methods (e.g. AS) there is no + at the beginning of the Citation. That seems to be the only case when the Source Rec has any useful function as you can click the little check box and it expands the entry. Having done that ...

Re: Property box icons

An alternative to hiding the More column would be if the Facts tab column widths and positions were 'sticky' and remembered from session to session just like Records Window columns. How would that work when switching between floating and docked when the width available is likely to be very different?

Re: Property box icons

As a "newbie" to Family History some years ago I started adding people without realising the importance of recording sources. I also imported parts of my tree from a Gedcom given to me by a second cousin which had no sources. I'm still working through finding and recording the missing sources so thi...

Re: Wish list thoughts

Are there many items in the wish list that have been implemented but not marked as Completed? For example, unless I'm not understanding the request, I think https://www.fhug.org.uk/wishlist/wldisplay.php?wlwlref=567 is completed. The linked forum topic has been moved to the Closed Wish List Requests...

Re: CRD (UK) Plugins

Death The text from source always includes "Date of Birth:" and "Age:". Even if you clear the fields it always includes both the labels. When you look at the images, most (all?) GRO death records have one or other, not both. Ideally the text from source should accurately reflect the original. Is it ...

Re: Add GRO Source plugin

However, most of the discussion about the Add GRO Source plugin and the alternatives was aimed at 'how to use them/what they do' -- so basic user level (to borrow pentris's phrase), and I'm not sure a compare and contrast approach is out of place in a single thread (although it does make the thread...

Re: Add GRO Source plugin

If the concern is that this forum isn't effective at doing what it was set up to (a place for the exchange of ideas about plugins between developers and/or users) then my sixpennorth would be to split it into subforums: one for support of released plugins (which will almost always be available from...

Re: Add GRO Source plugin

If you want to encourage plugin developers, then there needs to be an effective forum to do that, at least so ideas can be exchanged. Whether my work has any value to other user/developers can only be tested if they have the opportunity to see the plugin, try it and explore the code; I found none o...

Re: Add GRO Source plugin

The GRO Source plugin in the store is only up to FH V6 and is 4 years since updated so is no good for V7. I'm using Add GRO Source version 1.3.4 (attached to this reply: https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=16641&start=50#p106661) on FH V7. I've tried using the Civil Registration Inde...

Re: Tree tops query

I've been trying to work out a way of sorting the rows in my query to a logical order as they would appear (top to bottom) in the ancestors tab of the focus window. It's simple if all the tree tops are the same generation (just use AhnentafelNumber) but that doesn't work when they are not. Has anyon...

Re: FH7 - Text from Source - how to MODIFY table after initial save

The only way I've found to adjust the column widths is by clicking each one and move it to the left. I'm hoping someone can suggest a more efficient method. I tried the cog option suggested by Lorna and Nick above, but the "Modify Table" menu item is always greyed out. Are you aware that holding th...

Assuming the OP used the correct terminology. But we'll never know as they haven't been seen since January.
