Not really; when you copy a file you are not changing the contents of the file itself, so it hasn't actually been modified.

When you have an issue like this it's always worth looking at the coding of the standard queries to see if they offer clues. I knew what was wrong with what you had, but had to look at the existing Facts and Events queries to get a clue to the solution.

It's not just copying files to a new machine, if you copy a file to another place on the same PC you will see the same. The modify stays the same and the create date is when the new file was created.

As it is a fact query there isn't a current individual to use the expression you have so you have to get the owner of the fact. Try this:

=Relationship(FileRoot(),FactOwner(,1,MALES_FIRST),TEXT,1)

Yes, you are right. The closest you'd get would be a type Baptism where the birth is some unknown time before so not relevant. Anything else would give quarter, month or exact (even if it is wrong as in the case of my grandmother).

Have you tried using the inbuilt data entry in FH 7 for one of the earlier censuses? I did once after I upgraded to v7 and went straight back to using AS.
