Re: Using the =GetLabelledText function
Are you wanting links to the individual or family within FH or hyperlinks to a web page? In my note for the DNAMatch I have: Shared Ancestor: Shared Couple: where I enter the individual's id no. or the family no. The columns in my query are: =Record(TextToNumber(GetLabelledText(%FACT.NOTE2%,"Shared ...

Re: Generic Type
I was surprised and baffled - it's a one off and sorted so not worried.
Out of curiousity, when adding a census would AS spot/warn that there were multiple births?
If there were already two I'd have expected AS to add the citations to the first both times.

Re: Generic Type
The first of those just found me a duplicate birth event I didn't know about. The puzzle is that the citations show that both were created by Ancestral Sources.
Easy to fix by Copy/Paste the citation from one birth to the other and delete the redundant birth.

Mark, more on Living. I'm just working through a big update. In the Update Guide research note, if death is being added or amended it is not necessary to say the Living Flag needs looking at. Omitting that from the list of changes in this case would make it clearer when it does need to be addressed ...

Re: New text clipping option
Clipping means to cut a portion out of something to use elsewhere. I was really mystified as to what it was about and wondered what happened or could be done with the clipped text.
Either cropping or truncation work for me, but definitely not clipping.

[Wish List Item 598]New data reference index option "[preflast]"
Issue: When displaying the occupation the best option is %INDI.OCCU[preferred]% . The data reference for the occupation on the main tab of the property box uses this (without the %). The problem is that if no occupation has been flagged as preferred it defaults to the first, and frequently this will...

Re: Implement a "nulls last" sorting option to prevent blank data appearing first when sorting
Been thinking about the actual proposal some more. I can see why most of the time you'd want nulls to the end, but there are times when you'd want them to the top to highlight missing data that needs investigating. Always sorting to the end irrespective of ascending or descending would defeat that. ...

Re: Implement a "nulls last" sorting option to prevent blank data appearing first when sorting
For records and user queries you can always do something like I posted here: https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=134468#p134468 So I think it's only predefined Queries and plugin results (which could be modified anyway) where there isn't a way round it. Given how many higher priority wish ...

Re: Implement a "nulls last" sorting option to prevent blank data appearing first when sorting
Given that in records lists and queries a sort column can be defined that does this, I'm not sure this would be worth their effort.

Re: Program installation location/Limitation
If you only had it on one of the home PCs, would remote desktop from the other two be a way round the restriction? You'd only be able to use one of the three at a time and the one with the install would need to be up all the time.

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.6.12 (February 2023)
Just come across a minor issue. I'm adding a new household to the 1939 Register where I already have the image as I have recorded another household on the same page. I'm therefore using Link existing image already in the file to add the image to the new source. With the option Only show images with ...

Re: Adding media changes in v7.0.17
Are you a splitter or lumper for your census sources? I'm a splitter. For my census records I have one source for each household, the name of the source includes the head of households name and the schedule number. That is then linked to one or more media records (household across pages or 1911/1921...

To add to Mark's advice, in the property box for Mabel, you should see Eldon twice. I've shown how it appears for Mark's example. If they appear in the wrong order in the focus window you can change the order using the arrows I've indicated.

Re: Unknown Relations
Going back to the original enquiry, adding a custom column to the individual records window with the expression =TextIf(Exists(%INDI.NAME%),%INDI.NAME:SURNAME_FIRST%,"ZZZ") would give a column that can be sorted to put the unknowns to the bottom. Using my method of putting the surname in [ ], this e...

Re: Unknown Relations
Blank is fine in the focus window and diagrams where you can see the context in which the individual exists. But I find blank hopeless in lists like the records window, query and plugin result lists. Having the name in brackets makes it clear it's not their actual name, but does give an indication o...

Where I have a wife and I don't know the maiden name I also use the husbands name in square brackets.
If I know the maiden name but not the first name (e.g. I've found the mother's surname from a child's birth registration in the GRO index) I use [x].

Re: FH-RM-Ancestry Sync error
To absolutely confirm you could create a new FH project with only a single individual that won't match anyone in the RM database with minimal facts and try the problem RM database against that.
Have you tried running any of the RM repair routines?
