Re: Audit RM Direct Import plugin
Is this action logged anywhere? I would love to see what FH is interpreting as dubious sort dates.

Re: Audit RM Direct Import plugin
RM has a useful facility to sort events on the same day into a defined order by adding a dash and a number after the sort date. Yes, I make use of dates like 2022-1 and 2022-2 to sort things also. I also know that there is a certain point in RM where things go badly if the sort number is too large....

Re: Audit RM Direct Import plugin
My RM7 sort dates came into FH fine, they appear to. When I open the data entry assistant, it has placed my sort date into the 'Separate Sort Date year field. When I entered the 1950 census in the example, I was able to enter 3950 as the sort date in the year field. It works fine in regards to order...

Re: Audit RM Direct Import plugin
Superfluous sort dates matching the first date of a range are deleted (identified where event DatePt2 is not null and event DatePt1 and sort date DatePt1 return the same date). If I read this correctly, you plan to delete anything that is not deemed a valid date? This is not a good thing. There are...

Re: TO Do Report
I am certainly glad that I am not the only one battling FH's ToDo/Research Notes facilities. Having come from RM7, I could print a person's ToDo list in a half dozen or so clicks. When selecting what to include, I could select a person/place/repo etc. and get all notes to print for that person or pl...

Re: Template issue when exporting back to RM8
It's worth exploring why you want to use RM as an intermediary between FH and Ancestry or FamilySearch. The more transfer between apps there is, the more potential there is for data corruption or loss. Be aware though that FH has fewer direct sync options than either RM or FTM. It would seem as if ...

Re: Searching all Named Lists for one individual
Since the named lists are stored in a .fhss file inside of the Snapshots folder under the project name and they all start with '1 _Lists', I think they could be extracted in a Lua script (if I knew Lua and this may be a reason to learn). Do you think there would be any known issues opening and readi...

Searching all Named Lists for one individual
What I would like to do is search all named lists for an individual. In other words, if I have John Doe in multiple named lists, I am hoping to return a list of those named lists. I have read of, and used, the IsInList() function and it works beautifully to tell me is an individual is in one list, o...

Re: Title when printing results of a custom query
It may be in the knowledge base but unfortunately it didn't seem to turn up when I used the Search box.
I can attest to the fact that using %["County"]% causes the who program to crash when choosing either Print and Print Preview.
Thank you!

Title when printing results of a custom query
I have created a query that takes three parameters, County, Start and End. This query generates a result set of all people married in a specific <County> between <Start> and <End>. The query works just fine for my purposes. What I want to do is have the title of the report (when I print out the resu...

Focus Windows tabs order
I am sure it is a simple question or maybe just the fact I am a crap researchers when it comes to finding answers, but is it possible to change the default tab order in the focus window? I much prefer to have it default to 'Parents & Siblings' instead of 'Spouses & Children'. I assume if possible, t...

Re: Multiple Facts/Events to the same thing
I am a new FH7 user moving over from Family Tree Maker 2019. In FH7 I can of course enter all the birth events that I want for an individual, source them, &c., and mark one as "preferred," essentially as I have been doing in FTM2019. However, all of them—not just the one marked as "preferred"—are b...

Re: Sentence for a custom fact
A word of caution about places: if you're ever going to want to map your places (via geocoding them) you will need to include the country, otherwise you will get come very strange results. See Working with Places and Addresses and Geocoding and the Map Window if this is something you think you migh...

Re: Sentence for a custom fact
My apologies, I made a typo. My places are entered as comma separated parts, and I only use the 'city, county, state' format. I don't use country name in United States entries. If I only know the county and state, then it is entered as 'county, state', or if I only know the state, then that is what ...

Re: Sentence for a custom fact
Ok, I pasted that in, and it did exactly what I wanted, in both cases where there is a place and paper name, and in places where there is just a website. Thank you, very much! Your assumptions about Ottumwa and Courier are correct. I am using {value} to represent something that would normally have b...

Sentence for a custom fact
I am re-creating my sentences for custom facts from RM and have hit a bit of a snag. Currently I have written the following: {%CUR_PRIN.NAME[1]:FIRST%}'s obituary was published <in the {=TextPart(%FACT.PLAC%, 1)}>< {value}>< {date}> This gives me a perfectly acceptable sentence which reads something...

Re: Reports from a named list
Maybe easier because I skip a whole step that I expected to do, maybe not easier because I am somewhat attached to my groups in RM7 and using then to do various custom reports. This method also seems to be a reason why named lists are so overlooked (something I read in the KB). It also seems to be a...

Re: Reports from a named list
Ok, so it would appear that I am doing extra work by creating a named list then using that list in a query to print the results and I should just be printing directly after running the custom query since I really don't need to save my results after printing. That may, or may not, make life easier.

Reports from a named list
So now that I managed to master a query to pull all persons after 1900 without an obituary, I save this to a named list named 'No Obituary'. I now want to print this as a report. I assumed, incorrectly, that I could choose to do a Custom Report and populate it from my 'No Obituary' list. I did read ...

Re: Creating a Custom Query
Mike - So my custom facts all use the date field, the place field and the description field in RM7. If I had not used the description field, then I would not have gotten Attributes with the same name, correct?

Re: Creating a Custom Query
EDIT: Good news, I finally figured it out. I just excluded the Obit attribute also. Now, the Attribute/Event situation is another question that I will post later. Lorna and Mike - I apparently have an Obit event and an Obit Attribute. My Obit came along from RM7 where it was created. There was only ...

Re: Creating a Custom Query
Lorna - I am getting persons with an Obit fact mixed in with the persons that I would expect the query to produce, those born 1900 and later that do not have Obits. I did double check a number of the persons that show with Obits, and no, there is only 1 copy. I even checked to see if those persons m...

Re: Creating a Custom Query
Mike, I appreciate your help, however I am still getting persons with the Obit fact in my set.
