Re: Issues with Clean Up Notes
So I have now run Clean Up Notes and have no Note Records. But I still have some cleanup to do. I have blank lines in some Notes (but not at the beginning). In particular, the Notes for a Source all (except one) end with a CONT (and the other NOTE's don't). In looking at the Source window, this seem...

Re: Keep Query from being overwritten.
Mike, I did look at Help & Advice and think it is good you provide that. After doing it again, I see you get a different help, depending on which tab you are on. This is non-intuitive since the buttons appear to be global buttons which you would think would be independent of the tab chosen. I only d...

Re: How do you delete a note record?
Go to View>Record Lists>Notes Select each one you want to delete and press the delete key or select Edit>Delete from the menu, I did that, and the Edit menu option was grayed out. It had been grayed out everywhere else where it seemed reasonable to delete it, so I wasn't surprised. I just tried aga...

Re: Issues with Clean Up Notes
Mike, You are right. I have it backwards, and the before and after are switched. I apparently got it wrong the first time I did a compare, and have been operating in the context of that misinformation. If I had got it right, there would have been no need for this topic. So the Cleanup Notes plugin d...

How do you delete a note record?
I just deleted a birth date that had a note (record) attached to the individual. I wanted to also delete the note, but I only had the option to unlink it. On looking at the Gedcom file, I see the note record is still there, but nothing refers to it. I haven't found any UI to to do that or a plugin t...

Re: Keep Query from being overwritten.
Not where I would have looked. I did Google and did search Help.
I haven't changed the defaults. They seem to be 50, and the exceptions I got are for marriage at ages more than 50.
So I learned something else and am impressed again it found them.
Thanks.

Re: Keep Query from being overwritten.
I had a lot, too. Most of them were things like no date for marriages, etc. You can uncheck these in options and get to the real ones. I had one mother died before child was born exception. The mother's death was day-month-year while the birth was ony a year (the same year) so it is not really an er...

Re: Issues with Clean Up Notes
Mike, My first example just showed that the Local Note got replaced with a reference ( Record Note ), what I now know is supposed to happen. There is no issue. There were lots of these. I did have Notes beforehand, obviously. These are more lines around one of the problem cases. Before 0 @I387@ INDI...

Re: Keep Query from being overwritten.
Helen, Lorna, Mike, Those suggestions all worked. Thanks so much. What I really needed in this case was to double-click the first column in the statistics search. (Seems to be the same as the magnifying glass icon in the toolbar.) Somehow I had it in mind that only worked for Individual Records as i...

Keep Query from being overwritten.
If I use Show Project Statistics , it gives me a Query box in the Navigation bar. If I do it again, it overwrites it rather than making a new one (with the same name). In addition, if I do Search and Replace , it overwrites the one from Show Project Statistics , even though the name in the box is di...

Re: Issues with Clean Up Notes
Mike, I know the difference between @xxx@ references and things that are added in the same place at the next level in the Gedcom file. I didn't know the definitions of the names for these, which seem to be Note Records and Local Notes , respectively. Thanks. That is different than what I saw defined...

Issues with Clean Up Notes
I may have misunderstood what this plug-in does. According to "Getting the Most from Family Historian", a Local Note is A note that will be stored in the current record So what does it mean: This plug in converts record notes which have only one link to "local notes" In addition, it added blank line...

Re: Cannot Add Link
Thanks for the link, another thing I didn't know about the Knowledgebase. I have already reported it through a support incident, not that way.
In spite of any complaining, FH works pretty well for me, and I am happy with it.

Re: Cannot Add Link
Hi Mike, I was not unaware of it. I tried to find some things, like a nicer diagram layout, but didn't find anything useful. What I didn't realize was the extent of what was there - like the articles I worked on. Of the resources I used, the eBook from v5 was the most helpful. It's on my Kindle. The...

Re: Cannot Add Link
Ok, I have done that. I didn't add any comparisons to other PDF Printers because I have little knowledge of them. For my needs any of them works fine. I have used PDFCreator for years. It works well and allows you to merge and rearrange documents and pages, a feature I have needed from time to time....

Re: Cannot Add Link
On thinking about it, I can fix it. I was thinking about deleting the old one. I see it was done in 2010. It would be better to update the old one as you suggested. My plan would be just to copy all the source from the new one, overwriting the old one. Let me know if this is ok. I don't know how to ...

Re: PDF and Images for Medium to Large Diagrams
Hi Mike, I saw that it was Sourceforge, as opposed to a very polished commercial site. I didn't follow the link and look at the page, and just assumed they were different. It isn't unusual to have both, though. On looking more closely, the logos are the same, but the download links are different on ...

Re: PDF and Images for Medium to Large Diagrams
I have written this up in the Knowledgebase as requested. it probably should be proofed. how_to:creating_a_single_page_pdf_of_a_diagram|> Single Page PDF of a Diagram how_to:diagram_tips_and_tricks|> Diagram Tips and Tricks In the process I discovered you can also use PDFCreator to just save a PNG o...

Cannot Add Link
I want add a link to a utility. I went to fhugdownloads:contents:add_link_form|> Add a Link to a Service or Utility form. I am logged in, see Edit boxes, and can edit. Re: PDF and Images for Medium to Large Diagrams
Actually, I haven't made much use of either yet. I have sent both to other people. I haven't got any feedback on which they prefer. It's easier to use images in other applications, I think. If you want to print, you can use one-page PDF's and use a PDF viewer to do any paging. It's probably therefor...

Mike,
Sorry, I was wrong. I was confusing it with the 128" limit in Family Historian PDF.

Re: PDF and Images for Medium to Large Diagrams
Another issue: My article deals with images in addition to single-page PDF's. Thus, it doesn't really fit in the other topic. Added later: I looked at the link to the Knowledge Base. I wasn't aware what is was before. I think I can do that. It works for me if you if you look it over and check with m...

Re: PDF and Images for Medium to Large Diagrams
Mike, Yes, the other article does cover some of the points I mentioned, and in addition some are in the User Guide. I included them for continuity. The other article did mention some other PDF printers, but not PDF Creator explicitly. It uses the term PDF Creators generically. I did not follow the l...
