Re: Importing Repositories

Hi Mike, Yes, only repositories actually used appear in the GEDCOM export. To export in RY3, from the menu select Group, then Open. This opens the Group dialog. Select a Group (should be an All/Combined group, but any Group should do) and click on OK. Then go back to the Group menu and Export should...

Importing Repositories

Hi All, I'm moving from Relatively Yours 3 (RY3) which is no longer supported. I've purchased FH7 and am learning how to use it. RY3 comes supplied with a list of over 700 common-ish Repositories. This means when looking for a Repository it is highly likely the Repository record already exists, and ...

Re: This week's active discussion topics in the FHUG Forums email

I receive 2 copies as well. Just 5 minutes apart. I can't recall if it happens each week or just sometimes, but certainly received 2 this week.

Importing and TITLE

Hi everyone, After lurking on these forums for some time I've now decided to bite the bullet and buy Family Historian to replace my existing product, Relatively Yours, which is no longer supported. My plan over the next few weeks is to learn how to use Family Historian based on documents from Calico...

Re: Weird Tab behaviour

This problem claims to be fixed in FH v7.0.8.2 that is currently being trialled. Is it still being trialled or is it released? You can download it from the FH website under Downloads and is called "Latest Free Update", and is listed on the V7 updates page. I'm never quite sure how CP treat releases!

Re: Delayed replies

Please explain why any of that takes priority over FHUG (and genealogy in general)! I could understand having this issue for the last couple of days what with Ash Barty playing (and winning) the Wimbledon Woman's singles, and Dylan Alcott winning the Men's Quad singles. But I don't think there is an...

Re: Text from source

Excuse me for jumping in, but "swiss" is the name of a font and it looks quite like the font displayed in the screenshot. Maybe there is some issue with what was copied or how it was pasted. Or it could have nothing to do with the issue.

Re: FH 7.0.6 and Windows compatibility questions

FH runs on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.
Version 7 was only released in December 2020 so I don't think we will see version 8 for quite some time.

Re: adding notes/media

You could convert the Word document to pdf (Print to PDF feature). This means other people won't need Word to view the document, just a PDF viewer which most web browsers will have built-in. It also "locks" the PDF from accidental changes.

Others may have better ideas specifically related to FH.

Re: Virtual Family Historian PDF printer accidentally deleted

I can't answer your specific question (hopefully some of the truly knowledgeable people here will reply soon) but Windows 10 comes with its own "Print to PDF" driver. Have you tried that to see if it works? You should be able to select it just as you would any physical printer.

Re: All Relatives chart has drawn incorrect lines

Thanks Mike. I've noticed version 7.0.4.0 mentioned a couple of times in the last few days so have been checking the V7 updates page regularly. It's pure curiosity on my part!

Re: Screen refresh not happeneing

Excuse me for stating the obvious, but have you checked for the latest operating system updates, in particular video drivers? I see this occasionally (not in FH but other software) and a video drive update usually fixes it.

Re: Cloud based software

As someone who has not yet moved to FH (but planning to), please take my comment as a very respectful suggestion only. I see the Chromebook requirement as running FH "in the cloud" (app and data). Whilst I see Android and IOS requirement as running the app locally (with the data either locally too, ...

Wish List Voting Debug Error

Hi, I've been voting on some of the new items in the Wish List and on clicking on the Vote Button I get an error at the top of the screen saying: "[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file /home/taubmano/fhug.org.uk/wishlist/classes/core.dbfunctions.php on line 275: sizeof(): Parameter must be an array or ...

Re: GEDCOM 5.5.5!

The GEDCOM 5.5.5 specs contain this:

Birthdays: Dates without Years
The <DATE_GREG> definition has been expanded to include exact dates without a year; this acknowledges that we often know a birthday while being unsure of the birthyear.
