Re: Individual Narrative Report

Please forgive me if this post is stupid - I'm currently suffering from COVID and it is definitely affecting my thought processes.

Might this issue be related to "smart quotes" in Windows?

Re: First unread post - not working

It's working for me. What happens if you click the icon to the left of the topic name on the unread posts page? I didn't realise that icon worked that way - very nice to know. And, yes it takes me to the first unread post. I'll have to wait until there are some more new posts to recheck the "First ...

First unread post - not working

Has anyone noticed that the "First unread post" on a thread is not working? From the home page I select "All unread posts" so as to see what's new. Then I select a thread and on the thread I select "First unread post". This is particularly useful on long threads. Today, however, this simply takes me...

“If you can’t beat them, join them”, so I guess I’ll have to park my long-standing Facebook aversion and start dipping my toe in... Like you, I have an aversion to Facebook (Twitter and Instagram too), but I'm also thinking about creating a Facebook account (filled with as little personal data as p...

I've received 2 copies again about 6 minutes apart.

It doesn't really matter to me, but if FHUG is paying on a "per email" basis it could be a waste of money.

I lived in Canada (Nova Scotia) for a while. I once described Canadians as "partially metricated Americans". That did not go down well! I did leave on good terms, though. I wasn't thrown out.

Re: UK Marriages post 2000

You should thank your lucky stars that you are not tracing family in New South Wales. On-line BMD availability is as follows (as are physical copies) No Birth indices after 1922 -100 years No Death indices after 1992 - 30 years No Marriage Indices after 1972 - 50 years These are all, apparently, ba...

Re: Notes on importing from Relatively Yours 3

Hi All,

I haven't forgotten about working on this task, but with Christmas, visitors, work and my elderly mother having a fall, it has not been a high priority. Mum is improving and the visitors have gone so I'll get back to it in a couple of weeks.

Re: Two Questions Re Ancestors By Generation Report.

Glenn, Try playing with colour settings, you can select different colours for selected and unselected tabs etc. There is an aweful lot you can customise this way. You don’t have to stick to the boring 50 Shades of Grey  I assumed there was a way to change the colours but I couldn't find it qui...

Re: Two Questions Re Ancestors By Generation Report.

You need to choose Attributes (the tab next to Events) when editing the Fact list to see and add Residence. Thank you! I feel foolish now. It was so simple after I saw your screen shot. I should have been able to see that myself. JI guess it's just one of those days when my old brain wants to go AW...

Well reviewing the Wish List has to be easier than following our discussions on the Forum!
Ain't that the truth! I've been trying to follow all the Wish List posts, and am OK with most of them. But the posts about Fonts and plain vs rich text has been doing my head in.

CPs thoughts on the Wish List

Hi All, I see a lot of updates on Wish List requests today. Always a good thing, I think. But it does remind me to ask something about the Wish List. I noticed that out of the 9 pages of uncompleted items more than 6 pages of them were added over 10 years ago, some over 14 years ago. As many are dat...

Re: Plain Text Only setting

So, we'd have: Plain Text ON => Ctrl+V pastes plain text; Ctrl-Shft+V pastes plain text. Plain Text OFF => Ctl+V pastes formatted text; Ctrl-Shft+V pastes plain text. i.e.. the OFF setting makes no difference to the current behaviour. If I might jump in ... The list above seems right to me as it ba...

Re: Plain Text Only setting

I find that pasting in "tables" from sites is most inconsistent. For instance, of FreeBMD index entries and GRO index entries, I think one generally works and the other results in a mess. I very much doubt this is anything to do with CP's coding, and everything to do with the site's HTML and / or m...

Re: Notes on importing from Relatively Yours 3

I wasn't suggesting that you should write plugins, just that they may offer an alternative to manual conversion rather than just saying manual conversion is the only option. A previous version of my document mentioned, in several places, that a "plugin could be written" to resolve the issue. I remo...

Hi Mike, Thanks for the feedback. I haven't looked at making my notes totally suitable for the Knowledgebase yet. I was initially looking for the exact feedback you have provided. Thanks, Helen. Yes, right now I'm more concerned with the accuracy of my notes. Formatting can come later, although I'll take a look at the KB Style Guide and update my notes based on it.

Thanks,

Hi All, Wow. Over 1100 views and 24 downloads and no responses. In case it is of use, I have attached a GEDCOM of the RY3 Sampl...

Hi Vyger, Thanks for the response. I'm migrating from Relatively Yours 3 (RY3), and Australian-developed product that is no longer available and hasn't had updates since 2009. Glenn, FWIW, change all 27 Smith Street , to Smith Street, 27 . That way, all Smith Streets will be listed together rather than all Houses numbered 27! Assume you want to change the Place "27 Smith Street, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia" to the Address "27 Smith Street" and Place "Sydney, New South Wales, Australia". Re: Work with data, Places

Hi Lorna and Mike, Thanks for the responses. Lorna, I hadn't considered that the Place may have media and notes. Mine don't, but it is entirely possible they could have. I'll have to look at Named Lists. They are not something I've used yet. And Mike, Lorna is correct. I couldn't directly edit the P...
