It's the same problem no matter which genealogy software we choose
True, but other company's possibly have more staff. Calico Pie have two, and one is 64.

No need for concern, but quite right to think about options. I did my research on that before buying, and I'm perfectly happy.

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.5.2

I believe the only change (as mentioned in the list of features in v7.5) is to correct a spelling mistake on the 1950 USA Census Template as I originally mentioned in this thread . You'll see that version 7.5 also incorporates an option to add a blank line after headings that you asked for in that ...

Re: Help Files

To be fair though, the image viewing facilities on Ancestry, etc. have got a lot better over the years and so the benefits of using the viewer in AS are less than they were 12 years ago when I first developed it. Must admit I NEVER work of an Ancestry screen. for two reasons. Firstly I want a copy ...

Help Files

I know Nick has reported that his least enjoyable part of development is the help file! I've just read this sentence in the recent release (about an enhancement that I actually requested ) The image viewer is designed to be kept open while adding an image and to help with transcription, but this opt...

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.5.2

I only just managed to get time to install yesterday, so jumped straight to 7.5.2. On installing, I got the warning about new census templates, and declined that option. In the past I have made a significant number of pretty small edits to the census templates, almost all presentational. I'm relucta...

I too find that Windows doesn't remember that setting -- both inside FH and outside it.
Thats odd, as mine is quite happy to remember that option outside of FH

Re: Opening image files

I'm on Windows 11 Pro 64 bit, and all my images in FH are jpg not jpeg. image 2.jpg The one I'm using as an example is also recognised by FH as jpg, not jpeg. The default applications for Windows are set to Photos (as evidenced by the opening of the file in File Explore in Photos without any dialog)...

Opening image files

Does anyone else experience this issue. On clicking the green button to view a file, I get a windows dialog box opening as shown. image query.jpg I then select the default option (the photos app), and I also click the "Always use this app to open.jpg files" option. If I then repeat the exercise with...

Re: Old sketches - What fact

Otherwise, Hobby is probably best. It is unlikely to be worth creating a new custom attribute fact.
I decided to create a new fact called "Interest" which I thought was a better fit than "Hobby", then I used the "Change any Fact" plugin to replace all my Hobbies - which I'd never been happy with.

Re: Old sketches - What fact

An occupation does not have to be full-time to qualify for the Occupation fact. GEDCOM says: "The kind of activity that an individual does for a job, profession, or principal activity." and "The type of work or profession of an individual." Ok I'll add an occupation to the one who we know was an ar...

Re: Old sketches - What fact

If they were 'professionally' produced then maybe Occupation as artist and poet are appropriate. We do know that one of them (my grandfather) when he was much older painted and sold a lot of pictures, but it was never a full-time occupation. Another cousin was a full-time artist so art was obviousl...

Old sketches - What fact

I've just got hold of a small number of sketches drawn between 1910-12. There is also a short poem. I feel they should be added to the appropriate person but not sure how. Is a fact appropriate? I do have a "hobby" fact, but I'm not sure that is suitable. Any suggestions as to what others would do w...

Query No of kids

Going through my parent's old pictures, I've come across an unidentified picture of what I have to assume is a family group of husband and wife, 2 daughters and 2 sons. My family members have no clue who they might be. I was wondering if there was a way to identify families within FH where there is ...

Editing Rich Text Table

Just noticed that deleting a column in a Rich Text Table in a Generic Source, results in the loss of Hyperlinks from Column 1 rich text.jpg Whilst I haven't checked every option in the Modify Table command, it does look as if most (including the new Split Table" command), do the same thing. I've rep...
