Re: Multiple evidence of event
You've taken that single statement out of context from the whole discussion. It was you that raised the whole topic of "best genealogical practice" My point is I want best practice within FH so that I try to minimise because of painful experience with doing things in other ways. Such as discovering ...

Re: Multiple evidence of event
I take what you are saying, But I couldn't care less about best genealogical practice. I made my choice to work with FH, and that's what I want to learn to use to the best of my ability. If some of that goes against best genealogical practice, I have no problems with that. So I care what terms mean ...

Re: Multiple evidence of event
This discussion has grown a bit. It does strike me that we (and here I mean new/ less experienced users) all need a single document with clear definitions of what is a repository, what is a source, a citation etc etc. Many of the help files and the Calico book contain bits of this, but nowhere that ...

Re: Multiple evidence of event
Thanks to both of you. As it happens, I only have a small number (about 8) of these cases at the moment, and I had created 2 entries for each. I was beginning to think that combining them was the right way to go. But as I said earlier, I'd rather try and avoid issues in the future, so if keeping the...

Re: Multiple evidence of event
Thanks Mike for that additional help. This is what I love (and hate) about genealogy and FH. I do understand there is no "best" way and that what works for an individual is the best in practice. But there does seem to be a lot of variation as to what best should be. The problem is that without detai...

Multiple evidence of event
If I have for example, an image of an extract from Scotlands people of a birth entry and a birth certificate, what is the optimal way to handle it. I'm thinking that a single source should be created and the two media items should be attached to the single source. The alternative presumably is to cr...

Excellent. Thanks so much to both of you, and so quick too.
I never thought of a next page check.

Country of Intended Permanent Future Residence
Does anyone have any idea what may be hidden by the folded paper in the attached image. My interest is Winnifred Barrie, who has an entry in the last column, but I cannot see the heading. I've googled the phrase in the title, I've googled images but so far not found any like this with headings, most...

Re: Census Templates Back-Up
Thanks, but don't worry I do have plenty of cover.
My OneDrive is set up to permanently be saved locally to a physically separate local data drive which is itself then backed up daily to two separate disks one of which is 1 off site.
OneDrive copies are also saved locally on 2 laptops.

there was a big Win 10 update a couple of days ago, so you may well be right.
Thanks I have mailed him. I did look at that page , but missed the email address when I looked at it.

Re: Census Templates Back-Up
Thanks. That is what I do already, and they're also on OneDrive as well, but I just wanted to check. Particularly as the options set up features the three folders together, as.jpg I had made the assumption (perhaps understandably) that the backup would include the other two folders. To be on the saf...

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I couldn't see any alternative. Trying to add an entry in Census\Countries and places, I get an error every time. AS- Countries error.jpg The details section then contains this text See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time...

Census Templates Back-Up
Am I right in understanding that the four folders contained in AS\Settings as well as the AS\Logs have no way of being backed up, unless done manually. If this is the case, should there be a case for amending the Backup Options procedure to include these important folders which may have many unique ...
