Re: Change a Fact's Fact Set

Thanks for both answers. Much appreciated. I must admit that I thought I had changed fact sets in the past, in that way, but I really cannot remember and I don't have 6 installed to check. It is a bit of a nuisance to do it by copying but as long as I remember, its not a major issue for the few time...

Change a Fact's Fact Set

According to the FH help file You can even move existing fact definitions to the new fact set from other fact sets, by changing their fact set name to be that of the new fact set. The only exception to this is that you cannot move fact definitions into, or out of, the standard fact set(called 'Stand...

Re: Navigation Bar Settings

That makes perfect sense (now). I did not have anything else open. As soon as I did I can see the effect of settings changes here.

Thanks for help (again)!

Navigation Bar Settings

I've never looked at this specific part of Tools>Preferences>Display before today. However, I spotted the entry for Navigation Bar text which apparently has 4 potential values - Short, Medium, Long or None. None of these values show any text on my Navigation Bar. There is no visible change to my Nav...

Re: AutoTexts - Census

That's exactly my point.

So if I want to use the Census Auto-text, how and where can I use it?

AutoTexts - Census

Can anyone help me with my curiosity. AS has a Census Auto-Text entry. The help file states. Only one Census auto-text template is provided with Ancestral Sources. This has the title Default and just the type of source and year, place, address and the census grid. There isn't a great need for a vari...

Re: Probate fact sentences

How about including

< The Estate was valued at {=GetlabelledText(%FACT.NOTE2%,"Value: ")}.>

to show the valuation.

I also chose to put my Note area in this in manner

< {=GetlabelledText(%FACT.NOTE2%,"Note: ")}.>

Not forgetting to create the Auto Create Note

[[

Note:
]]

Witness Role Versus Note

When creating a new Fact Attribute for Courts Martial, I was looking at what data I should potentially try and capture, one being the name of the presiding officer/judge. Since the judge should (presumably) by definition never be a relative of the forces member, and therefore never in the tree, I de...

Marriage Roles

While I was updating a marriage from a press report, I got the following sentence "xxx gave his daughter in marriage" and realised that I do not have a "Witness Role" for the person who is (often) the father of the bride. I cannot think of a good name for such a role that would encompass "father of ...

1939 Register

Does anyone have any idea when the redacting of the living records was done (and from other discussions, I understand it may even have been different for Ancestry & FMP).

Secondly is the redacting updated at all, and if so when?

Thanks

With Christmas fast approaching, I'd like to say a huge big thanks to a few people - Calico Pie and their staff, Nick at Ancestral Sources, and a few FHUG members. I'm reluctant to mention them by name as while there are a couple of obvious stars, I know that there are a few others who may be less w...

Re: Attaching Sources

As usual, the reply was (sadly) exactly what I expected, and misses the point completely. Firstly I ended with At the same time, lets encourage us all to work better though. So yes its absolutely right to point towards improvements in working practice. The "Full Horror" comment (even if in jest) was...

Re: Attaching Sources

I do think we need to avoid the horror of demeaning someone's working methods. Not everyone is an expert, users need to know they will be treated sympathetically. He probably is also working to standards. They may not be your standards, but they are his and if they work for him then they are pretty ...

Re: Associated Individuals and Witness Roles

I have no strong views on any of these, as we can add any roles we as individuals want.

As far as Mourners go however, I do have a number of old Australian newspaper articles that list mourners, so it might be useful to retain Mourners for Funerals, Burials & Cremations.
