Editing Census Templates
I have been editing some census Templates, using the "Copy From" facility to edit the Relation list. I deliberately chose the first "Copy From" entry on the (alphabetical) list to be my prime source, so I did not have to hunt for the right entry to copy from each time I edited a new Template. Howeve...

Editing AS Census Templates
I have modified a few USA Census Templates - mostly cosmetic changes to try and save a bit of space. I changed the country to read "USA B" to keep them separate. I then used a file compare program to check that I hadn't made any unintended alterations. All seems fine except for one field <Modified>0...

Re: Proposed Changes to the Forums
I think the reference to "too technical" might be looked at in a different way. Topics such as Mike referred to I'm thinking about customisations that require complex use of data references and functions such as in Queries, Text Schemes, Sentence Templates, Source Template Formats, etc. Often end up...

thumbcache.dat
Following on from 21799|Media Thumbnails , Mike Tate's reminder to delete thumbcache.dat prompted me to have a look. I discovered that there was no such file in my cache folder (using V7.0.19). I have deleted versions of this cache file in the past. Restarting FH made no difference, still no cache f...

Date entry abbreviations
A very minor (but as a result possibly simple request). When entering two "between" dates, FH is quite restrictive on what it accepts. btw 1914 and 1918 is accepted between 1914 and 1918 is accepted but is immediately displayed as btw 1914 and 1918 btwn is rejected as an "unknown date" & is rejected...

Re: AS Options
Many thanks.
The reason I suggested Media Record, is because that it what it becomes in FH, and the Image does not get titled by this step.

Title Templates
I currently use {KEYPERSON.GN} {KEYPERSON.SN} in my templates. Is there a way to have the template show Initials for the second (and any subsequent) given names, to produce for example: "John S D Smith" I would be happy if coping with multiple initials was a problem if I could at least show the firs...

AS Options
I use method 1 all the time, and I've found the last line in settings, and the top line in Method 1 settings very confusing. If I take Census settings as an example, then the last (and top) sections are as follows (with my selected entries). AS Template titles.jpg Am I right in thinking that the fir...

Re: Wish list thoughts
None of these points negate the problem, and yes I have seen discussion before about merging. What it needs is a fresh approach. Maybe a clean start? Why merge old threads from 2006? Start a new list (don't delete the old one) and if there's an old item that someone wants brought up again, then do s...

Wish list thoughts
Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes. I've been wondering if the Wish List as it is operated currently is doing an adequate job for users (and ultimately therefore for CP). Since the start of 2020, there are twenty-two entries on the Wish List (I do not know if "completed" items are re...

Re: Diagram Icons
The only further point I would make is that perhaps Diagram Icons are not the best way to review missing Census records. Agreed, I was not using them as the best way to review missing Census items, but as a handy visual aid to prompt further investigation. Where two or more Icons appear, it will be...

Re: Diagram Icons
...if you believe you will need 60 Conditional Expressions, ... What I was trying to check was whether I was right that 60 expressions would be needed. I only mentioned the Record Flags as I suspected someone would raise the topic if I had not mentioned them. I was hoping that someone would tell me...

Diagram Icons
I've done virtually no work with diagrams so far as I've been concentrating on getting data in, rather than outputting it, so I'm a complete newb at this. Having read through https://fhug.org.uk/kb/kb-article/using-icons/ , I have a couple of questions. I've managed to add Census Diagram Icons, but ...

Re: Custom Fact Fields
This all made sense to me apart from one tiny bit. It is advisable to enclose the meta-fields in privacy [[ brackets ]] to allow the fields or the brackets to be excluded from Reports and also the {note} code. I wasn't sure exactly how this was to be read, but on my reading, I assumed that you meant...

Re: Recently Updated Plugins
It's there now. The approval e-mail was timed at 10:08 this morning, so perhaps the Recently Updated list is driven by a macro that only runs once a day? Or did Jane do something manually to make it appear? It was submitted to the store yesterday with yesterday's date, but not approved until today....

Recently Updated Plugins
Check installed plugins works well for those plugins that are installed, but I rely on the "Recently Updated Plugins" on the web page https://pluginstore.family-historian.co.uk/recently-updated-plugins to update me on new plugins (or updates) I may not have spotted in the forum. The new "Rich Text f...

Convert Sources query
Please do not spend any time on this Nick, as it is more an enquiry looking for an answer/explanation than anything else. I've been working using the Census > Source Convert option, and the "No hyper link" filter. It has worked perfectly so far till I hit on a query. this one came up and seems to ha...

I have updated my version if anyone wants, but as Nick is going to update the program, then it might be better to wait for the better official version.

Re: Scotland 1921 Census
I personally have not yet, but if others are, it surely makes sense to Include Y/N, as the far more logical/sensible response to the question. Presumably if Y or N appears then the Householder probably used that on the Schedule, so the enumerator has copied the schedule. The other alternative would ...
