Re: Map Life Facts substitute place?
Thanks for the response. So do I understand correctly that the substitute place cannot be selected from existing places, but must be entered (typed) manually? That doesn't seem right. Attached is an example--I wish to assign a substitute place to Skarborg, , Sweden. Screenshot 2021-04-04 14.53.11.png

Map Life Facts substitute place?
Please direct me to explanation of how to designate substitute places in Map Life Facts. I have looked in the following sources without success: https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=6131&p=26685#p26685 https://pluginstore.family-historian.co.uk/page/help/map-life-facts-geocode-location...

Re: FH7 Source Template definitions in AS?
Thanks for the response. I am using method 1 (that is very clear in AS guidance). So are you saying that I need to create the same source definition and source template in both FH and AS?

FH7 Source Template definitions in AS?
Anyone developing census source template [definitions and autotext] for Swedish parish records? Swedish clerical records predate civil records, can be incredibly detailed, and are mandatory references for genealogists. Swedish Lutheran Church records date back to medieval times and were conducted a...

Re: Swedish source template definitions
Thanks. 1) Yes, read the help. 2) Read that many times too, but not clear if “ non-essential” templates can used. 3) That worked! If I decide it is worth pursuing, I’ll post in the AS forum. Frankly FamilyHistorian is a bit overwhelming right now— i’m spending my time trying to figure out the softwa...

Re: Swedish source template definitions
I've been playing around a little with cloning and editing existing definitions and have two questions before proceeding. 1) I created a new template definition, then deleted it in the Source Template Definitions window where it no longer appears. However, when I Create Source from Template / Prepar...

Re: Swedish source template definitions
Thanks for the reply. I’m assuming I need both definitions and auto text.
I’m thinking I might start by cloning an existing census definition, edit it and base any future Swedish definitions on that. I expect the definition won’t be very close to what I need, but the auto text might be.

Re: FH6 Plugins and Customizations in FH7?
Thanks all. Just reporting that I successfully upgraded to FH7, and updated seven plugins to version 7. It was particularly helpful to have the list of plugins that were disabled compared to those installed and active. Onward!

Re: FH6 Plugins and Customizations in FH7?
Right. So why is there a "store" listed in the free Downloads dropdown menu? It would be more logically be labeled simply, "Plugins." Just trying to suggested a user-friendly improvement to the website.

Re: FH6 Plugins and Customizations in FH7?
Thanks for letting me where to look on the web. Perhaps Family Historian should call it the Plugin Downloads page for other neophytes to avoid having two stores (especially when the "Plugin Store" is free)?

Thanks. I went to the page shown in the attached screenshot to look for updated plugins---it is the Store link from the Family Historian homepage. FH6 Plugins and Customizations in FH7?
1) What has been your experience with Family Historian version 6 (FH6) plugins functioning in version 7 (FH7)? Re: re-installing AS on new computer
I appreciate the heads up! I’ve made massive customizations to my FamilyHistorian. I’ll give the Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings plug-in a try in the hope of retaining all of my changes. Silly me for thinking that fh6 “backup” would produce an actual backup.

Re: How to use a To Do list
Mike Tate - Right. The report I posted is not functionally useful to me. I offered it for consideration because “it might, perhaps, be useful. . . “ to someone.
Great forum. Thanks, again, for everyone’s input.

Re: How to use a To Do list
OK. I think I figured out my confusion. While I can enter any number of To Do lists for an individual using the To Do Attribute, the To Do Tab is intended to work with only ONE To Do list per individual. (The Tab fields are white, not grey and accept text.) Right? I was trying to create a new To Do ...

Re: How to use a To Do list
Thanks, Mike Tate. Yes, I entered information in the notes as described. I was able to generate the quieies and report. The only way I could get the column width to suit me was to export the query result into Excel and wrap text. The Tab option does not allow entry of information, however. I have do...

Re: How to use a To Do list
I too created (downloaded) the To Do tab and attribute. Frankly, I don't understand how it was intended to be used: the tab only displays one To Do fact and does not allow entry of To Do facts; the columns in the query result are not wide enough to contain enough information useful to me; etc. . Doe...
