I meant to find the repository of templates for download in the first place. I should have included “download” in my search term, rather than simply “Ancestor Sources templates.”

Is there a repository of user-developed Census Templates that can be downloaded and imported. I searched the Ancestral Sources forum and could not find mention of such, but recall having read that user-developed templates were available.

I see. I was confusing the Census Template with the Source Template. I will read up on the AS Census Template and decide on next steps. Guess I didn't think I would have keep creating new templates . . . guess I don't have complete grasp on the concept. Thanks again.

Sorry to appear dense . . . Are we both talking about the same screen in Ancestral Sources? I can only selected from the existing options in the dropdowns for Type: and Region:, and cannon change Year: . I am not able to manual type any data in those fields. I can enter Date:. Ahhh -- I missed something in my initial post. The " mystery text" I had noticed was not in the Date, but rather in the Year: see earlier screenshot. Downloading 7.7.7 did not solve the problem.

Where does the Year information come from?

Thanks, Mike. The simple solution is the enter multiple surnames as a single value in the Married Name(s) attribute for each person. I will rely on marriage facts for dates, etc.

That’s why most people stick with the maiden name.

I agree. The primary name for all persons in my project is their birth name. I'm trying to consider the best way to deal with alternate names.

Okay. I was was hoping there was a way to avoid two exports of the same data for efficiency sake.
I will follow the advice in the plugin’s Frequently Asked Questions.

One option that I often use when exporting GEDCOM files using FH7 is to select only a portion of the records in my project: see image.

I have not found the capability to select individuals in the Export GECOM File plugin. Have I missed that choice or is it not an option?

I enter my Short Titles manually in all cases. No problem that they’re not auto-generated. I’ll just edit any AS entries in FH to add Short Titles.
