Re: Linux and saving big nice PNG diagrams workflow
I've checked that and printing as PDF works as well. The only limitation is that it do not prints into one huge page, but instead I was able to set A0 format, which decreased number of 'pages' to about 34 for 'flat' tree I've tested. Then, the conversion to bitmap can be done by using pdftoppm which...

Re: Linux and saving big nice PNG diagrams workflow
Hi Mike, my problem is solved already. Thank you anyway. I've noticed that only some special fonts have kerning problems, like Sinkin Sans - nice, wide, big and readable font which I've used. For me, XPS is working nicely, so I could drop PDFs for now. One way or another, all this PDF/XPS step is re...

Re: Linux and saving big nice PNG diagrams workflow
In fact, I realized that I didn't try that method. I've never 'printed' to PDF (only to XPS). But there is a menu option in Historian, in Diagram, Save As, PDF - which I've used. It seems to be different though. I was able to save PDF with maybe 30-40% zoom (bigger sizes didn't work), and the result...

Linux and saving big nice PNG diagrams workflow
Hello again, I would like to share my workflow in order to save some experience and knowledge for others. This workflow is good for me, but maybe somebody else will find this useful. Setup: Linux workstation with 64GiB of ram, windoze7 in VirtualBox with Historian installed. Situation: Family tree h...

Re: New Version or update for modern Windows
Thank you for a very friendly explanations! They helped me a lot, however, even after several tries of installing/reinstalling wine, fiddling with different repos, polluting my system with all kind of printing systems, I did not succeded. Surely, too few time and hairs was lost for that effort. Fina...

Re: New Version or update for modern Windows
Thank you very much for clarification. Indeed, it seems that I do not think enough before posting. This was a moment of frustration. I've searched thru forum and found DPI hints, and other minor things regarding visiblity. But having not much time I certainly did not found the most valuable answers ...

New Version or update for modern Windows
Hello, and please let me apologize for what I'm trying to ask. Of course I've read the Policy and disclaimer about asking for features and newer versions, and I understand that you are working hard all-the-time, etc. I KNOW that. However, I would like to express also some, let's say, tension, which ...

how to print approximate dates in other language
Hi, I didn't found that in the forum nor on google, so here's the question. I have a date format defined as follows: =TextIf(Year(%INDI.BIRT.DATE:XDATE1%) = Year(%INDI.BIRT.DATE:XDATE2%),Year(%INDI.BIRT.DATE:XDATE1%),%INDI.BIRT.DATE:ABBREV4%) This expression is working nicely and it is generating da...

Re: custom dates for btw and non btw combination
Thank you for your kind words and clarification. I've used your version and it works perfectly. Also, I've split place and date to separate parts so no more hanging comma appears, only space if dates are empty. Here is a finished example (I'm unsure if I manage to upload a picture). exampleofformat....

custom dates for btw and non btw combination
Hi, I would like to have a diagram line with Birth Date, but configured in a way, where there is "YEAR PLACE" text only when date is precisely known and "YEAR1 - YEAR2 PLACE" where data is know approximately or given as a "between" period. Example: birth is entered as between 1850-1870 in City or bi...

Re: interchange with myHeritage with photos
Well, thank you, your help is much appreciated, and I nearly start guilty to not do further research the subject immediately. Unfortunately, I have a very limited time before big family meeting (~100 ppl), and I can't check those things right now. I'm using Family Historian to create a bare family t...

Re: interchange with myHeritage with photos
Yes, I've checked the logs. There were thousands of warnings and comments. However, the tree and the whole database seem to be quite OK. I've created nice succesful diagrams. On the other hand, all data from MH were rather limited to names and photos only + little bit of dates. So no big deal here. ...

Re: custom query with tree root name in every record
Hey! Thank you for the quick answer. Indeed, it works! Awesome. However, I've changed this function to my needs, using the formula: =ToLower(GetField(Individual(["Starting Person"]),"%INDI.NAME:FIRST%")) Simply, only firstname in lowercase is needed. However, the full name (firstname and surname) ap...

custom query with tree root name in every record
Hi, I've created a modified 'Descendants' custom query with few additional fields. All is working fine and dandy, and for a specific individual from the tree I can easily create a list of all his/her descendants, with spouses. This is superb OK. Now, I want to include the name of specified individua...

interchange with myHeritage with photos
Hello, In short: MyHeritage -> FamilyHistorian (processing) -> MyHeritage I have MyHeritage account and a family tree with 300+ nodes. Lots of them have photos. I've exported the GEDCOM file including photos (using MyHeritage Family Tree Builder, which is another application). All data were exported...
