I have seen that reference in the help file and got it to work unfortunately the file root is something I use a lot moving it around to the head of whichever family group I am working on at the time.
I was rather hoping I could find a way to anchor it to myself instead using my INDI number somehow.

Relationship expression for a query
Further to my recent posting asking for help with a relationship expression I would now like to use a query to find all of my DNA facts and list them together with the calculated relationship. I do have this working but was hoping to streamline it a little more. My query columns are: 1. %INDI% 2. %I...

Jane
I tried your suggestion but I couldn't get it to work even adding curly brackets as I found mentioned in the help file.
Mike
I just saw your reply and that works perfectly
Thanks to you both

Relationship expression
I have created a custom DNA fact that I have attached to various individuals in my records. I would like the fact sentence to show the relationship between that individual owning the DNA fact and myself as a fixed individual. I have found the Relationship function =Relationship(["Individual"],%INDI%...

Re: TO Do Report
I'm struggling to see how this is better than using Research Notes? How would you populate the new custom attribute? The OP says he has 120 such notes, and I’m sure he doesn’t want to copy all the details one by one. My impression is that this would just duplicate the Research Notes, but in a less ...

Re: TO Do Report
How about a more simplistic approach. Create a new custom fact called "To Do" Add this fact to any individual that needs such an entry and add the details you want saved Create a query to list all "To Do" facts and choose the columns you want such as ID, Name, To Do etc. and sort on your chosen colu...

Re: Photo Editing Software
Can I suggest a freeware program called Faststone Image Viewer. I find it an excellent image viewer plus it has various editing features to adjust colour, btightness, contrast etc. It also has a scanner feature so scanning images directly into the program is possible https://www.faststone.org/FSView...

FH Hints
Has anyone else noticed the FMP hints are no longer working. They don't show automatically and if I click to refresh them there is a quick flash of the hint circle but nothing more. I am not sure but this may have coincided with the release of the 1921 so perhaps something has changed at the FMP end...

A very prompt reply from Calico Pie >> I noticed my usual report settings were different and included index, sources etc. where I had previously left them out. It seems like the report settings were returned to default. Thank you for reporting that. We have confirmed that you are right. The upgrade ...

FH V7.0.8.2
I have just updated FH to version 7.0.8.2 and it seems some settings have been lost. The first thing I noticed was an internet hint opened in the internal window instead of the external browser as was set before. The next thing I noticed was when generating a quick report, it looks like all setting ...

Re: Occupation in main fact box
Yes I did customise the property box back in V6 (before the Preferred Fact feature I think), so have carried these modifications into V7 without realising I now had a little more control of the display of facts in V7. I actually had "%INDI.OCCU[1]%" as the data reference but have now changed it, and...

Re: Occupation in main fact box
Has anybody used this preferred flag for a fact and can confirm the feature is working. I have just tried marking a later occupation as preferred, as described in this thread. The fact shows a yellow star in the fact list but the occupation field on the Main tab is still showing the earlier occupati...

Re: xx Surname Sr.: Want to sort on surname not on 'Sr.'
I was thinking about suffix but ended up writing prefix in my suggestion. I have columns for both prefix and suffix showing in my record window and find it very helpful especially as this data is normally hidden within the "More" dialogue window, and not normally visible unless you think to open it ...

Re: xx Surname Sr.: Want to sort on surname not on 'Sr.'
How about configuring the record screen to include a new column for the name prefix (using %INDI.NAME[1].NPFX%), then move that new column so it is adjacent to the existing name column.
That will allow you to see the individuals name prefix to tell them apart, and even sort on that prefix column.

Re: Diagram problem with multiple Attributes and Events not showing
I can't claim to understand much of the detail in this posting but have spotted a "slip of the finger" mistake between what Mike Tate suggested and what I see entered into the edit box of the template screenshot. =FactText(%INDI.OCCU[1+]%,"CT","A_Occup: _ _ in _") has been entered as =FactText(%INDI...

Trying to update a plugin to run in FH7 and would welcome some advice. The plugin used the "table.maxn" function and is now generating an error as that function has been deprecated. The plugin looked through my FH database seeking a particular fact and if found it copied the 4 elements of the fact t...

Re: Note Window
Raised a support ticket for CP to consider.
Funnily enough the message window where I was entering my message to CP has a right click menu containing a "Select All" function, so why shouldn't FH7 have the same feature.

Note Window
Newly upgraded to FH7. I was running FH6.2 on Win 7 and now have FH7.0.5 on a new Win 10 laptop. Still getting used to things new and different but have noticed something missing. The "Right Click" menu within a note window no longer has a "Select All" function. It is there in FH6.2 but not in FH7. ...

Re: Addresses
In answer to Mike Loney's comment about using a query to find who used a church, I am not denying that is possible but it is also very easy to use the "Where Used" button on the Address window. That creates a list of connections to that address that can be narrowed down further by sorting on the "Co...

Re: Addresses
Well I started doing it like that then encountered a problem. I record church names in the "Address" section for baptism, marriages, burials etc. When I found I had the same name church in more than one village I couldn't tell them apart in the address list so started adding village, county etc. to ...
