Re: Is there a way see citation media while editing the citation?
See my screen capture to illustrate. I clicked on Sources for Name > double-clicked 1939 Register > clicked Media > double-clicked the specific image.

Is there a way see citation media while editing the citation?
I'd like to be able to see the citation media while editing the citation, in order to add details...is there a way to do this? As far as I've found, the active media window blocks access to any other window. Am I missing something?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: No searchable text in PDF reports
I have now tried Scrivener, and it too can properly import the .rtf and then Compile to .pdf which is searchable. See screencaps. (I tried just to add to my previous post, but the forum wouldn't upload the additional screencaps) I was able to make the export to .rtf and then publish to .pdf work, ho...

Re: No searchable text in PDF reports
Ah, thanks - I'd forgotten I'd even turned that on! Fixed now. Teresa Teresa - you may realise this but the {xe "Stuff"} with a dotted underline in the MS Word rendering is normally hidden because it's where Word sticks its indexes - I can turn them on and off in Word with the Show/Hide button to "S...

Re: No searchable text in PDF reports
I was able to make the export to .rtf and then publish to .pdf work, however, I had to use Papyrus Author. I tried using both Word and Atlantis, but neither couldn't read the table from FH7. I then tried in LibreOffice, and same result as Word and Atlantis. See attached... Very interesting that only...

Re: Custom citation template question...
Ah...I'm just used to entering dates in that format everywhere and prefer to have dates presented that way in reports. But, in the end, it's not a huge deal. And now I know to use a text rather than a date field if I want to have it seen that way in reports etc. T FYI: FH does use the standard GEDCO...

Re: Custom citation template question...
Thanks :) That makes sense. In the end it's not a huge deal, just that, as I understand it standard genealogy entry criteria are for the date to be presented as 10 Feb 1901, not 10 February 1901. Teresa Teresa, "...I did, however, have one more question. I prefer my dates to be 02 Feb 1806, yet I FH...

Re: Custom citation template question...
That definitely worked!!! Thank you sooo much!! :D Teresa There are lots of variations that you can build into a custom template to better handle text, punctuation, missing data items... Below a simple first step, which I have not tried, as a starting point: {Type}. {Country}. {Place}. {Date}. {Name...

Re: Custom citation template question...
Thanks, Helen. I did try that and it didn't work. The solution below, however, did. Now I have one template down, I can clone and create all the others I need :) Really appreciate all the help I get here in this forum. I did, however, have one more question. I prefer my dates to be 02 Feb 1806, yet ...

Custom citation template question...
Ok - I played around today with creating my own citation template. Mostly it worked, however, I can't figure out what the punctuation parameters are. At the end of some fields, FH places a period, while at the end of others, a semi-colon. Is there any way for me to define what FH does? I've uploaded...

Re: Citation Date in FH7
Hi Mike, Thanks for the detailed explanation...I get it now. I guess I see a field and feel I have to use it! Teresa It looks like you have customised the Citation Window by adding Entry Date . BUT the Date field that exists by default IS the Citation Entry Date . If you check the cog Menu > Customi...

Re: Citation Date in FH7
Adrian - I was playing around with options here...this is part of my issue, trying to figure out how to use these templates as they're very different from what I'm used to in RootsMagic. I'm also wondering how others use these fields differently. Thanks for your input. Teresa Speaking as a v6 person...

Re: Citation Date in FH7
Like many things FH provides facilities for you to do what suits your purpose. I use the Citation Date to record the date I entered the information because the date of the event is recorded in the Event and it provides me with an audit trail. Also, I believe you don't actually know the date of many...

Re: Citation Date in FH7
I think it’s fair to say though that many people treat the field as the event date. In many cases, you won’t know exactly when the record you are citing (Bishop/Archdeacon Transcripts, Census summary, etc) was created. Thanks - that was kind of what I was thinking...we can't know when many of these...

Re: Citation Date in FH7
Sorry Mike, I'm still not really clear. I've attached a screencap of my citation window...I'm citing a Parish register.
So Entry date is the date the baptism took place and Date is??

Citation Date in FH7
In the Citation window, to what does the Citation date refer? The date you are entering the citation? Or the date the event you are citing took place?
Thanks

Thanks

Creating custom citation template...
Hi there, I'm enjoying all the new aspects of FH7, however, I'm wondering if there's a way to create a Free Form template. I have one in RootsMagic that is minimal, but that allows me to enter my citations in my preferred manner (it's a mash-up of the methods used by Ian Macdonald and Elizabeth Show...

Re: Is FH As Good As We Think
I guess we can take it that it won't be in the next 6 months then. This same discussion is taking place amongst RootsMagic users as well...At this point I believe that CP, much like RM, is making no promises at all. We'll know the release date when it happens. Am I excited for the new FH? Ye...

generating citations
Hi everyone, First - I'm using FH 6.2.6 on a Win10 laptop. I'm new to FH and love a lot about it, but can't seem to figure out how to generate citations or even individual source reports, at least not that look like the ones I can generate in Roots Magic. I want to use FH because the majority of my ...
