Re: Adding Flags to Main Tab in Property Box
Thanks, Mike - this is what the Help says, which is why I was confused. As I mentioned, examples are always helpful...My screencap just says Item Name, which again, for me means nothing without an example. I know I can undo if I make an error, but I'd rather do it correctly in the first place. Lorna...

Re: Adding Flags to Main Tab in Property Box
Um, what doe we use for Item Name? I want do add a Twin flag for my 2nd great-granddad and his brother - so is it just twin? Relationship? An example in the online and program help would be useful. Thanks, Teresa In the Customize Property Box window, first make sure the Main tab is selected at the t...

Re: Exporting to Wikitree
The Wikitree Help at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:How_to_Use_WikiTree section 2.4 Do you have a GEDCOM? says: "If you have used other family tree websites or software it's likely that you can export a GEDCOM file and upload it here." Why is that not an option for you? I'm not Sarah, but what ...

Re: possible to delete field definitions?
Thanks, Mike - I just right-clicked there and assumed there would be a delete option. I did delete the field over in my actual Template Definition, but, as you said, the Compare/Sync feature, doesn't handle that well.
OK - got it done!!
Thanks again!

possible to delete field definitions?
I have a customized template and want to delete a couple of the field definitions but can't find any place to do that. Once created, are we stuck with them forever?

Hi Nick, Thanks for the additional information. What you say makes sense - my mind just works differently  . Now you've explained it to me, I see what you mean. I have yet to figure out how to apply my own edited templates from FH (tried, but failed) to give me my Strathclyde citations, but tha...

Re: Feeling stupid...again...
Thanks for the feedback. And yes, I know part of the issue is me not using AS consistently - just dipping in and out so I don't establish a workflow. It didn't help yesterday that I had a crashing headache while trying to work in AS - my pain and frustration came through in my post and was directed ...

Re: Feeling stupid...again...
Nick, To me, because it's highlighted, and I opened AS from Sarah's FH profile, on her death fact, I assumed it already knew and had added her. My other confusion is that I assumed I was creating the source/citation in AS and attaching it to an existing fact, NOT creating the fact in AS. It might se...

Re: Feeling stupid...again...
Teresa, You need to press "Select" in the second box on the right can side of the first screenshot to carry the name across to input screen (and, of course, confirm that the correct individual has been highlighted). Mervyn Thanks, Mervyn, but then I get this: DeathEntry#3.png The workflow just isn'...

Each time I try to use AS, I get almost all the way through and then get thrown for a loop. I launched AS from Sarah Blundell Hills profile in FH7, from her death fact. Created (or so I thought) the death entry - got to the point where I THOUGHT I was finished and clicked save, then AS tells me I ha...

Re: Surname prefix (SPFX) -- more generally, handling structured names.
This isn't something I see in my own family - it's generally just first and last name, sometimes a middle name - often with declensions, but not the gens/Clan name you cited. There are diminutives used within the family, but not on records. Of course, the furthest of gotten back with any degree of c...

Re: Surname prefix (SPFX) -- more generally, handling structured names.
But would it really be for one? I'm a user of FH and recently have made it my key software of choice for my tree. I have many Polish names in my tree and as my research goes further back, hopefully, at some point, I may find some Prussian names that will include a von or other prefix. As two other s...

Re: Census UK Tab - my take
If if makes you feel any better, I generally consider myself very computer software savvy, yet, like you, I have difficulties with at least half the stuff that comes up in this forum. For instance, queries (beyond the basic ones) remind me of math and I just freeze - I see all those numbers, letters...

Unfortunately it doesn't as I need the scaling to make it comfortable to use the source templates. My eyes aren't getting any younger!! I'll just live with it. Thanks :) Teresa I'm glad you discovered what the issue is. I'm not sure how best to correct it. I just leave the display scaling at 100% an...

Re: text copied from citation window...
So, the screen font scaling is definite the problem...very frustrating. Can anyone think of a way around this? Is it worth raising the issue with CP, though I'm not really sure there's much they can do? I might just have to pick my poison, so to speak.
Thanks,
Teresa
Thanks,

Re: text copied from citation window...
Hmmm...I did wonder if the Screen Font Scaling was the culprit, as I already have the font in the property box set to TNR 14... unfortunately, I really need that scaling as otherwise the fonts in some windows are just too small to be comfortable. I will experiment anyway, just to verify that it is i...

Re: text copied from citation window...
Your could try a format-less paste (often Ctrl-Shift-V)? Does not answer the puzzle though Right - I forgot to mention that yes, if I do a format-less paste, then I lose the italics in my collection names, so I have to re-do those, which is even more work than highlighting and reducing the font siz...

text copied from citation window...
A bit of an odd question, but I've noticed when copying a citation from the side panel and pasting into a word processor document (I use Atlantis, but it happens in Word as well), the font is very big - as in 16.5! I then have to highlight and reduce the font size. Each and every time. I haven't see...
