The best distinction is that an event happens at a particular time (even if that time is not known), but an attribute is something that is true over an extended period.

Thanks, Mike - I just right-clicked there and assumed there would be a delete option. I did delete the field over in my actual Template Definition, but, as you said, the Compare/Sync feature, doesn't handle that well.
