Re: Ancestry's "Historical Newspapers, Birth, Marriage, & Death Announcements, 1851-2003"

I generally contact Ancestry via Facebook. Crista Cowan (Ancestry staff member) is a member of this group: Ancestry . Com - Helping, Sharing, Venting (Not an Official Ancestry Site) and generally answers if you tag her directly when you post to the group. Have you thought about contacting Ancestry t...

Re: Ancestry's "Historical Newspapers, Birth, Marriage, & Death Announcements, 1851-2003"

I second this suggestion. Even if it's gone behind a paywall, at least you'll know. And if it's Newspapers.com you could do a 7 day free trial, pay for a subscription for the shortest period possible, or wait for a free weekend. I feel your pain as I've also run across instances where I made brief r...

Re: de facto etc parental relationships...

My only evidence of the informal evidence is that my great-grandmother was registered at birth as Rose Ann May Lawley on 14 Nov 1876, her mother, Caroline Lawley, married Jesse George Ferdinando on 28 Jul 1878, and the family was recorded in the 1881 census, with Rose Ann appearing as Rose A Barlow,...

Re: de facto etc parental relationships...

In the case of an official adoption, I agree, however, the particular examples I have in my tree are from the late 19th century when it was a de facto relationship, with nothing official having taken place. Thanks for the pointer to the official adoption thread - I'll add it to my bookmarks :) The p...

Re: de facto etc parental relationships...

Thanks, Mike - I'll definitely have a go at doing that :) You are correct that those relationships are not shown in Diagrams or Reports by default. The data reference %INDI.FAMC.PEDI% refers to those pedigree settings for the child Individual. So you'd have to add that data ref to ISR Report Options...

de facto etc parental relationships...

So, I figured out how to set parental relationships, however, I don't see the one I set reflected in any reports (individual summary, individual narrative)...Is this possible? Or is using the setting merely to trigger the visual cue in the Rel. column in the Focus window?

Thanks :)

Re: Source templates

Seems likely - I know when I first started, I didn't realize I had to take this step. Every once in a while I also forget to add new templates to the project after creating them. It sounds to me like you aren't using the Compare/Sync with Source Template Record... function within the Source Template...

Re: Source templates

That sounds like a bug of some sort - I do this all the time with templates (new and cloned)...Have you reported it to CP? Fair enough, I agree that Templates would be a must,, if flexible, but I can not find a way to make them fit. In my case, after I edit a template (either a new one or copy), aft...

Re: Source templates

My view is the opposite - CP adding Source templates to FH7 was the final piece I needed to move from RM8. Also, I'm in Canada, with English and Polish heritage - I've adapted the built-in templates to record my Polish sources. Also, I frequently edit my custom templates after cloning the default on...

Re: Question re text in diagrams...

Good to know - thanks. I've tried it on the chart I was working on and it worked a treat :) Strictly speaking the edited <font =...> item should adopt the same Box Type and Conditions settings as the Spouse Name item so that the font is only applied when the One box per marriage option is chosen on ...

It's just odd it suddenly appeared in the last beta. Really not an issue for me, but I figured you'd want to know. I imagine at times programming feels like whack-a-mole... Thanks Teresa. I wasn't able to entirely reproduce this issue but I'm hoping it may be improved in the next beta test version. ...

Re: Question re text in diagrams...

Thanks, Mike - Am saving these instructions for the weekend. How I missed Clone line I don't know, but I figured it was something like that. I've already Cloned and edited Text Scheme, so will work with that. As always, appreciate your help :) Yes, you need to add some Font items to the Diagram Text...

Question re text in diagrams...

Good morning (I'm on the West Coast of Canada), Is there a way to bold the Marriage and Spouse name in a diagram? I've looked everywhere I can think of in the diagram options, but can't see anything that allows me to modify the text line by line. This family is quite large, so having the spouse in a...

Re: Integration with Zotero

I've no idea if it would be possible, but am definitely think it's a cool idea... Without knowing whether this is possible, I'm wondering if anyone has ever considered writing a plugin for FH7 to integrate with Zotero. My goal would be to have all references in one Zotero repository which can then b...

Slight UI Glitch in latest Beta...

Hi Nick, On my last couple of entries I've just noticed an overlap of the field label and the field itself in the Save file dialogue - see screen capture. I'm pretty certain it's new - am sure I'd have seen it before this. Also, I'm certain I recorded his age, but perhaps I forgot. overlap of field ...

A useful exercise for me to run this plug-in - now I see the Data Ref and it kind of puts everything together for me :) Try the attached Sources List for Selected Individuals plugin Version 0.3 Date 08 Feb 2023. Re: Merge repositories?

Bill, Thanks for the screenshot and step-by-step instructions. They really help. While I'm good with software, some of the techy talk (expressions, as I mentioned earlier, remind me too much of math) goes right over my head. Enter a column heading you would like to see, then click on "Insert Data Ref...", and then select the data you would like to appear in that column.

Re: Merge repositories?

Thanks, Mark - and yes, the result was all rows the same, all saying just Ancestry.com. So I assume that this means if I take the time to merge them, it won't affect the sources attached to each different instance? From what I can see, it won't, but I'm always nervous about making wholesale changes ...

Re: Funding review for Australian TROVE website!

In order to sign the petition, you have to declare that you are "a resident or citizen of Australia", so unless you are, you can't sign without lying. I was disappointed to learn this when I went to sign, given how much material I've found via Trove.

Re: Merge repositories?

I tried that custom query, but got no workable results...I'm sure it's operator error, but those expressions just remind me of math class and I freeze.
