Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

It's the max-height being set as a number of vh units less than 100vh, Mike. This is trying to preserve the aspect ratio but it's not really helping in this scenario. My copy was in a test state and I had forgotten. I'm looking for a better magic spell at the moment. I'm also looking for a way to ge...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

Do you have the *.txt content so that I can run it through V6.2 to see if that's the difference?

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

I see now what you're saying, Mike, but I don't get this on my examples, which is really odd. There's something different about your code but I cannot see it. I added an onload handler to the iframe to shrink the height, and it did (after moving the default W/H from CSS back into the iframe attribut...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

Sorry, Mike, that would be width-div, etc. for the example I provided. For instance, just after the head element:

Code: Select all

<!-- FH width=??width-div?? height=??height-div??-->

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

FYI: The SVG Tree.txt files are entirely generated by my plugin NOT using GEDCOM files. That latter option is impractical as it would need a tiny GEDCOM for every nuclear family tree. OK, I thought as much. No bother, someone else will benefit from the new -G option. I have tried the TreeImage.rar ...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

As you can see from my screenshots of SVG Trees embedded in FH webpages, there is a great deal of FH created HTML script above and below the SVG Tree. Does the technique you propose involve merging that FH created HTML into the SVG Header.html prior to running SVG-FTG? I don't understand how it is ...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

I was thinking that this approach would be easier to automate (if it needed any change at all) and so the users shouldn't see the difference. I've only a vague idea of what Mike's trying, though, and so my help will understandably be limited.

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

Ah, iframe is notoriously difficult to get right, Mike, and trying to make it responsive to change (like a small browser window is even harder). I don't believe that object-fit is honoured (or can be honoured) for HTML content. Before I make some suggestions, can I rule out one further possibility: ...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

Folks, I'm trying to post some code here but it won't allow me so I need some help. If I put angle brackets (or event the equivalent character entities) in the message then I get an error 403 "Forbidden". It doesn't matter whether it's in a code block or not. I cannot attach an HTML file because it'...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

For such a "light" usage of SVG then another possibility -- which may have been discussed right at the start of this thread -- is to get SVG-FTG to generate SVG files. SVG is actually an XML-based syntax, and it can exist in standalone files or be embedded/linked to HTML. We have been discussing the...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

Tony, I am confused! :? If you really "cannot support post-processing of the HTML, or changes to the core XML file" then that rules out SVG-FTG for the purpose of embedding family trees in the FH generated HTML webpages. My plugin takes the Tree.html file created by SVG-FTG and cuts out parts of it...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

It has to be a different application, Mike. The JS, CSS, and registered data format are all specific to the documented functionality of Compendia. This is why the framework is open. Everything that these apps use is documented in the "Program Notes" document. I cannot support post-processing of the ...

Next Monday at the latest, Mike. I'll send you a link when it's there. I want to test a bit more and update the PDF docs.

Was there anything I missed off the list?

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

Despite internet and power outages here, I have made some progress with V6.2 bits for you, Mike (see below). I have to do some work for my publisher during next week so I will not be working as much on this. 1) Image-loading errors now use a custom error marker 2) Relative image file specifications ...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

I may be mistaken, but if you choose the non-SVG option then it seems only HTML, CSS and JS files are involved. No SVG files. Why not try the Plugin I attached on Monday and you can satisfy yourself with what files get created. Then it ceases to be a theoretical discussion and becomes a practical d...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

I found some time tonight to give the FH application a try. After several attempts that got the tooltip popups but no active hyperlinks, I discovered a typo in your scripts:- ApplicationsServicesFH.xml invokes the on click JavaScript function exi_show https://parallaxviewpoint.com/SVGcode/extinfo6....

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

Here, try this, Mike. It demonstrates the new FH application, and "hover text" too. Place the XML file in the same directory as the EXE, next to the standard XML file. Load-up the tree definition file and generate code for it. By default, clicking on a box or image launches the hyperlink (my blog po...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

OK, that is generally understood and I've explored the TreeAshbee.txt sample of using Compendia. We may not need Info Panels and Tooltips, because as you can see from my posting yesterday, the FH web page has all the biographical details in report format. Instead of using the Edit-Person Program da...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

You can actually put anything in the caption, Mike, but only those specific formats are recognised by SVG-FTG, and this might impact interactive applications added later. Biographical and historical details would go in the Notes section, and would be displayed by the 'Informal Panels' or 'Expand Not...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

Ah, SVG-FTG is quite fussy about the format of date range because it uses the information. The docs say (date-date), where 'date' could be c1800, or ? for don't know. The second date has to be absent for living persons. For instance, (c1800-?), (?-1901), and (1976-) The '\' character can be used as ...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

It might be worth looking at the "Header=file" setting, Mike. If you're worried about configuring a consistent set of box shapes/sizes/colours with a plug-in then that's the documented way. Different subject: I checked that -L issue you reported: Because the option is emulating the menu click then i...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks

Thanks Mike, I'll see if I can reproduce that. Regarding fonts, I haven't looked at that because it's quite messy. I had to do all the sizing and line wrapping myself for the existing font as SVG does almost nothing for you -- very different to HTML divs. I've noted it but it's low down on my priori...
