Perfect - works fine! Thank you very much.

Re: Flexible CSV importer - name type
Hello.
Still working on cleaning up my name data - with your csv importer.
I am using "NameUsed" in FH, and that is not supported by the plugin.
Is it possible to get that in? (as a new detail label under Name)
Best regards,
Øivind

Re: Flexible CSV importer - name type
Hello. Been too good weather for genealogy here, so not tested before today! But used the new version now and it works as expected - incl showing "type" in detail field.
Thanks again!

Re: Flexible CSV importer - name type
I did not execute the "Import" because I thought something was wrong when I did not see type in the detail field... Tested again - and it works fine! When I tested yesterday (without the type field) I think the names I imported through the csv file was appended (ie FH kept the existing namesnand add...

Re: Flexible CSV importer - name type
I have tested your attached version of the plugin. I suppose I should get "type" as a value in "detail label"? But there are only the name parts and source fields. Something wrong?

Flexible CSV importer - name type
Hi I am using the Flexible CSV importer - a good tool to append more data for existing persons (with the REFN column as key). But I have a wish for one more field: The name type that can be filled in for a name through the All panel (f.ex. "Maiden"). I am using this to hold different variants of nam...

Re: Querying sentences - FactSentence function
Thanks for fast reply. Good resource with queries in the Knowledge base that I was not aware of. But I had done this correct, so I still get the same result. Have done some testing, and it seems to depend on my fact set. If I delete all my special fact sets it works well. But the sentences work corr...

Querying sentences - FactSentence function
To get an overview of how my sentence templates are working for all my facts I am trying to make a query showing all facts (of a specific type) with the narrative sentences that will be produced. I am not sure I do understand what the FactSenctence function is meant to produce. Each fact is listed i...

Re: Patronymics (& Matronymics/metronymics)
It may be useful to pause and think why we need to distinguish these name parts, and how FH within the existing restrictions imposed by GEDCOM handles those needs. I agree. And the other thread, "Names and name changes over time" https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=21126&p=129797#p12...

Re: Names and Name Changes over time
The idea of associating Name Variants with specific Facts is more flexible (particularly if you had someone who went by a variety of names depending on situation rather than date) - particularly if it defaults to the name on the chronologically previous fact to enable fast data entry. How do these ...

Re: Data reference for witness
Thanks for your comments David. The witness problem was in fact just one specific situation. As you are pointing out names are a more genereic challenge. I was trying to find a solution basesd on the possibilities in FH - and when I was aware of the name type property I wanted to test out if that co...

Re: Data reference for witness
Thank you very much for your reply. This illustrates that the {role=Rolename} is a very effective expression… I think it will be to complex (at least little practical) to achieve my goal of sentences (in several different facts) showing witnesses choosing one of the alternative names with a specific...

Data reference for witness
Today I am using the expression {role=Rolename} in a sentence. The result lists the names of all witnesses that have the role Rolename. I would like to be able to use f.ex. a name part (given) or alternative name (name no 2) for these witnesses. Use of data reference would probably give me these opp...

Re: Known As (AKA) name type in GEDCOM
I was not aware that FH could hold "type" for different alternative names. That is something I have missed for years! For me it looks like I can add and edit name types in the "All" tab. Type is also shown in the "Names and titles" with a column Type, but the value is always "Name". Error? And the f...

National characters in Export plugin
I am using Gedsite to build my website based on a FH project. The “Export Gedcom File” plugin is used to include the sentence templates from FH in the gedcom file that is used by Gedsite. My language is Norwegian, and my data and sentence templates include national characters (æ,ø,å). The plugin mak...
