Every time I re-open Family Historian I have to re-establish the charts that I've created as visual aids to my work.
I know that I can save the charts but then I have to go through the steps to re-open them.
Is there a way that I can re-open right where I left off?

tree layout generation labels
How can I label my generations?
I would like to have the generations numbered. So I know which one I am working on. Something similar to this jpg.

symbols/icons on my family tree
Looking closer at my tree & at my wife's tree I find indications that I do not understand. Looking in the version 5 manual I cannot find an answer.
What are these little ovals supposed to represent & where can I find a discussion about them? thanks...jack

Re: media list
I just went to one of my ancestors info to put the info in a separate database & found, again, that a piece of media was still there. I thought we had gotten rid of it. I went to the web & found this answer: https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16570 to delete source records. I will delete ...

Re: media list
I guess I didn't explain correctly.
I did not do anything to the listings in the "File" column. I did remove the "media\tab x-xx" from the "Media Records" column.
After your comment I had to check. The links are all there. (Phew).

Re: media list
What I did do based on the earlier parts of this discussion was to go to the media records and remove the "media\tab x-xx" and then did a sort query as recommended by Lorna Craig. Printed it!
Now when I enter data I 1st check to see if I already have the record & then just link.

Re: media list
Well, there are possibly multiple sources/causes. 1. The GEDCOM that I've created over the years through my work. 2. Images from FHL films FHL libraries that I copied from films & scanned in (the Benjamin Foss & Hannah Miller page is one such an instance). 3. Pages copied from Ancestry 4. Pages copi...

It also appears that I need to learn more about the program.
Do you have any recommended tutorials?

Re: media list
Can I completely remove the source & reinstall it tagging it to the appropriate people? Lots of work I know but I'll do it.
I just found another instance of similar actions. It is frustrating and I am sure that I am the problem here.
Thanks in advance...jack

All right.I have got the query made and it works fine. Now this brings up another problem. I went to another ancestor and she has media that does not apply. I wish to print my media list. It now has 800 entries. I downloaded the plugin for finding duplicate media and cleared a huge amount of duplicates. I now wish to print out the media list so I can refer to it before I assign media to an ancestor. If it is there I do not want to upload it again. I did...
