Re: What to do with Certificate mistake
Mark The spelling of his middle name (his mothers maiden name) has been the same for the two centuries I have been able to track them back, so I am quite sure the spelling on my wife's birth certificate is wrong. I think the problem was that her mother registered the birth and wasn't quite sure abou...

Re: What to do with Certificate mistake
Adrian There's a whole can of worms been opened with this information. Second marriages, probable murder and a few other things, but that is for his daughter to deal with at the moment. I do know he came back from Canada with his grandparents when he was very young, so he may have saw them as his pa...

What to do with Certificate mistake
Hi, I have just found out my step fathers parents are not who he said they were on my mother and his Wedding Certificate. His daughter only found this out recently as well, as he had never told anyone that who he passed off as his parents were actually his grandparents. My question is, what is the b...

Re: Template- Scotland (Birth)
Hi Helen, Is the updated DEA in the first post in the (18283) Topic? If yes, then no it doesn't seem to work for me. I entered my wife's birth and it didn't enter her mother in the Focus window, it does enter her details in the Records window but not in the Focus window. It also shows her father in ...

Re: TIP Ancestry search criteria
Just a suggestion as I am not sure how Ancestry works with wildcards, could you not enter Northampton* and let Ancestry look for all variations of Northampton even misspellings eg shir or shre I may be sending you wrong information for Ancestry but maybe worth a try.

Re: Template- Scotland (Birth)
Helen Is there a reason you're not reverting to the (UK) version? Kind of don't understand what you are asking. I said that I had accidently clicked (ANY), so there wasn't an issue with (UK), but I also said that the issue that I reported with the error when inputing using (ANY) would be an issue wh...

Re: Template- Scotland (Birth)
Hi Helen The problem is that the (ANY) DEA doesn't add the mother to the focus screen when it enters the information and fires up this error message ... Re: Template- Scotland (Birth)
Helen, (UK) DEA working fine, it was the (ANY) DEA that isn't working. I accidently picked the (ANY) and thought I had used the (UK) one, hence the initial confusion (My fault). My problem as I mentioned is that when I go to add my wife there will be a problem as she is born in Oz, but at least I kn...

Re: Modern day conundrum
Mike my suggestion would be a simple 'known as' button that changed the view from the name given at birth to put in the known as name (if their is one) in its place and back again. I thought I did when I said view and (if their is one), but obviously not. Helen The problem for me with your suggestio...

Re: Modern day conundrum
It is not a one-click button but it is quite easy to swap the Primary Name and an Alternate Name (AKA). Click the more (+)... link next to a person's Name in the Property Box. In the Names & Titles dialogue select the Alternate Name you want to make Primary and click Make Primary . That swaps it wi...

Re: Modern day conundrum
Surely this is just badly designed software and badly thought out idea's. It would surely make sense to have what you are known as now as the main name on the main page of any software with names before either below or attached. I say this because when talking to relations about other relations, the...

GRO missed a great opportunity...

Re: OneDrive sync ends next year
That was why a said "soon to be unsupported" after all it is only 10 month's after the Onedrive app is dispatched. I really think this is Microsoft just trying to get peeps to upgrade to their more secure version of Windows by giving them less goodies if you stay on the older version.

Re: OneDrive sync ends next year
I think I would be more worried about having an unsupported and soon to be unsupported version of windows on my PC, than whether it was going to sync OneDrive. As you say, you will still be able to use OneDrive online to store your data and use it across your devices. Best option in the long run is ...
