Re: My Heritage Hints not working
I know that Mike, but they weren't there for a little while and have started to show up again. When I restarted FH this morning the ones that had disappeared are back again, I only started to notice this again because my mother only has one hint from anywhere and when I look at it is the same one th...

Re: My Heritage Hints not working
I just started getting hints from MyHeritage again, when I click on the link it shows me the hints and then when I go back to look at FindMyPast hints the counter has removed the MyHeritage hints and they are no longer available. Has anyone else noticed this?

Re: A photo from RootsTech
How does 7 look? Any news of release dates?
I am just wondering as a spill has rendered some of "Getting the most of" book useable but not great and no point in getting a new copy if FH7 is coming out and a new "Getting the most of".

Re: Splitting my husband's side of the family away from mine
Jane If you just want to show (rather than pass on to someone) then if you just use the diagram window to view it select your husband and then view All Relatives Diagram it will show you but none of your family and vice versa. The same goes if you use the focus window and make your husband the focus...

So what we are really saying is make sure you pick the right software for you and stick with it, because changing is not going to be too easy

Re: Source Types (usage of the FH field)
I was just wondering when Mike mentioned that Type was a Non Standard Gedcom extension, what others weren't standard to Gedcom in case I could dodge a bullet just now by making sure my information could be input slightly differently. Just like I said earlier Source title from Birth: to Birth Certifi...

Re: Source Types (usage of the FH field)
Thanks for that Mervyn. I was more interested in what doesn't transfer directly. When I moved over from FTM all of my information moved over, just not to the right places eg place names correct but addresses (Street names) into notes. That is why I decided to redo my tree rather than go through the ...

Re: Occupation - Date
In any death certificates I have, if the deceased is no longer working it has always said- Factory Worker (Retired) or similar. So my view would be that the person was still working, an example I can give is my Grandpa who worked in my dads factory until his late 70's even though he had retired as a...

Re: Source Types (usage of the FH field)
Thanks for that Jane, but as I said I am not far enough into my redo that I can't just change the Title's. Remember this comment if it ever happens ,because you will be my go to person for- Simply writing a plugin script . Back to my original question, "what other fields don't export to other g...

Re: Source Types (usage of the FH field)
Beware that the Type field is a non-standard- GEDCOM extension unique to FH , so doesn't export to other genealogy products. If that information is important to be retained in all future incarnations, then it should be in a standard field such as the Note . Can I ask what other fields don't export ...

Re: Can't open FH
Have to say I used Trustier Rapport for years with no problems at all. RBS recommended it and offered it as a free download, but in the last year they sent an email out notifying me they were stopping using it and that I should Uninstall it. The reason given was that it gave no benefit now due to al...

Re: Viewing sources ?
If you are using a windows pc, right click on the image and pick open with Paint . When it opens, in the home screen there is an icon that says resize . Click on that and a small window will open and in that window change from percentage to pixels, there is also a Maintain Aspect Ratio tick box (mak...

Re: Viewing sources ?
You will have to open the photos in an image viewer and then resize them. I can't remember the size it has to be, but it is around 150-200kb

Re: Source Types (usage of the FH field)
Sorry if you thought I meant that the image I put up was about consistency, I thought it was how the developers meant the type field to be used (I presume it is just giving different examples). Consistency seems to be the call from most serious FH users and for that matter FTM or Rootsmagic. What I ...

Re: Source Types (usage of the FH field)
2019-09-30.png I am guessing this was how FH developers perceived the use of the Type field as this is the sources in the FH Sample Project. Consistency is the war cry from FH, there doesn't seem to be an exact science to what goes where as long as you put the same things in the same fields. Obviou...

Re: Grave stones
If you are convinced that it is the gravestone (rather than memorial etc.) of the specific relative, I would tend to think that is sufficient proof of death! Definitely know it is the right graves David, as I was at all of the funerals. By no proof of death I meant no certs. In these instances I wa...

Grave stones
I have a few photos of grave stones from a few dead relatives with their date of death, but I don't have any other proof of death and wondered the best way to enter the information into FH. By that I mean entering a source, type etc.

Re: Living/Private
I was just looking at the Heredis app for android and while doing so had a quick look at the Heredis 2019 demo. I noticed that you seem to be able to make everything private, from notes, to citations to a complete person and all with a tick box at each section. I can't comment on anything else about...

Re: Living/Private
Hi Mike 1 Didn't mean photo, meant image of Birth Certificate. That was why I said "I wouldn't want someone's birth certificate to accidently appear" 4 If they automatically hide living persons details, why might I not trust these sites to keep living people private? It was what I was meaning by the...

Re: Living/Private
Had that feeling when I asked Helen. I was just hoping that if a person was marked as private that I would be able to mark their certificates as private to stop them showing up by accident. Especially if I was going to upload the information online, I suppose it would be safer to mark as private and...

Living/Private
Quick question but not sure how to ask it. If I use a birth certificate as a source with image for someone (child) and marked them as private and living and then also use the source for someone else (parent) who is now dead and not private. Would the image show up if I export a Gedcom with images an...
