Re: Create Source From Template- Problem

Will add them later, 'she who shall be obeyed' wants to pop out for some shopping  The problem with clicking ok instead of Exit is that you just go into a loop of OK, what about the birthday update to lua error, then back round again. The only option you have eventually is to press exit to get ...

Create Source From Template- Problem

Hi All, Sorry if this has already been mentioned but I couldn't see anything when I looked. I have came across this problem a few times now. I opened the 'Create Source From Template' and entered all the information requested then once I clicked the OK button I get this message. 2021-01-02 (1).png I...

Helen

I actually like the Metrolike style, I just don't understand the new topic/unread topic icons in the board index and that's why I don't use it. Marina and Prosilver are easy to understand but Metrolike is beyond me.

This is obviously my problem, the option is not available in the Marina Orange style setting. I changed to Metrolike and it was there, so I switched them off and then returned to the Marina orange style.

Re: FH7 - Witnesses - Females - Display married surname rather than maiden surname?

You could always add them using the 'Name Only' option in witnesses and then add a note to the effect that they are your mother/mother-in-law giving their maiden name and Record ID in a note. Maybe not how you would want it, but it would give you the name the way you want it.

Re: High cost of upgrade

Mike I am not sure what CP's thoughts are, over a 50% increase in price is not the way to increase your customer base. Unless everyone else increases their prices substantially then FH has just shot itself in the foot. They have now moved them selves very close to FTM (The expensive one), especially...

Re: High cost of upgrade

I don't think anyone is saying that over many years of owning something it gets better value, but CP could bring out another update in 2 years and the price hike that appeared for FH7 isn't such good value. I agree with Mike Loney on this one, hell I even mentioned it in another post, how can a comp...

Re: Upgrade via S&N Genealogy

I got the 30 day trial and it is obviously time limited, then it became the full version once I added the Licence key. That is maybe what you saw. I have always had to download the 30 day trial when I have wanted to re install FH and then add my licence key to activate it. It makes sense because if ...

Re: What is main difference between version 6.27 & version 7

Don't forget price, am I mistaken but would buying a hard copy of FH6 with the promise of an upgrade to FH7 not have been cheaper than getting an upgrade to FH7? Therefor having a full version of both.

Re: Saving a new Citation

autosaving can increase database errors in situations where you input something on screen and don't spot an error/misspelling and then it is saved for you without your confirmation. So what are you saying here, you only check information input if you have a save button? If you think that autosaving...

Re: Saving a new Citation

Not really Mike, many programs have autosave now a days, so clicking x to close is normal in many now a days. You are not clicking x to save, it is already saved you are clicking x to close the window. Microsoft 365/ Office has it for one, I am not saying it is not counterintuitive if you haven't us...

Very backward move! In FH6 clicking save also closed the dialogue box.
Mike

Knowing what you now know (autosave as you go) surely just closing the window would be the same as clicking save. So no more clicks than you would have before in FH6

Re: FH7 and mouse

Tony This was always an option in Windows with the mouse once the wheel appeared. I haven't used a mouse for a while now, but if I remember correctly if you click on a part of the screen that has a scroll bar then the wheel will scroll if you don't click on the area it will zoom. I may be wrong, as ...

Hi Richard, Yes, FH can print similar charts, although I am not sure if it can have a background like the one you have in your example. I am sure someone will come along and confirm that. You could download the 30 day free trial and give it a whizz to see if it suits you and whether the charts are w...
