Header Record (1 FILE)
it appears to me, that even when a file is used from outside family historian and brought into family historian (NOT AS A PROJECT) that the: 1 FILE C:\<file path>\stupendousgedcom.ged is indeed the current file, and file path >>> ALL THE TIME within THIS.SESSION of family historian. is this indeed c...

I cannot find a way to access PEDI. Let that be a trouble unto itself. Is there (cuz I cant find it in the standard) a way to out and out describe a stepchild? I see diagrams and thats ok for me only. The issue is, I cannot find Pedigree, perhaps my glasses are fogged up. I do see some discussion of...

Re: Fixing UDF
I am constantly astonished at the inconsistencies in the methods of execution and interfaces in this software and the notion that anyone would have to read thru industrial bowls of spaghetti to do what should be simple intuitively obvious tasks. When one has worked some 10 years on building the tree...

Yeah, the 1 MDCL fact tag, dont know what that is. I dont see MDCL in the GEDCOM standard yet. But way back when in the custom stuff.... it was used like this: 2 CAUS cakked from cancer. 2 MDCL diabetes. so usually CAUS was immediate and MDCL was where the secondary went The trouble is, and let me r...

Re: Records Window
Yes, thats well hidden isnt it, David? LOL. Thanks. It would be nice if all the tags could be in the add fact screen, much less running around, and all the facts could be configured from the tools>fact type screen. I can add AFNs considerably faster in editpad. **Also, if extensive use is required, ...

No, it is not quicker than editing line by line, FH "edits" line by line. (I don't edit line by line) I can search for and replace those quicker than anything I can do in FH. 4 keystrokes per fix. I dont know LUA yet, but in RPGs I could write the fix in less than 5 minutes, I expect when I learn th...

I will make a query for each type of tab. One thing I will need is line number. Since most are unfixable in the program. these are just a few of my problems 1 OCCU 2 DATE 1881 2 PLAC Mariner The one I talked about at the outset *1 whatever *2 whatever 2 PLAC 1DB8-F7 * I say whatever because I cannot...

Yes, exactly what I thought. (it is linked to one record) So, I will make queries for all the tabs, which to me is a strange situation.

As always, I am sure this is covered somewhere, but having read all the knowledge base, and searched the forums, my head is too full or I missed it, or I have unusable search skills. I am on the records window. Indi>Fam>Note>Sour>Repo>Subm>Plac>Head (written out) those are the tabs available to me. ...

Thank you, that took care of it for me, I somehow missed that plugin in the plugin store. I read that FTM post way back, but did not think of it, because I am on 6.2.5

I have imported a gedcom from FTM. It has note records, they are in a separate area, I can see them when I use the note tab, but cannot go back to the individual record that uses them. I cannot find anything on the site on how to do that. there is a plug in that is Migrate all census family records ...

Thanks. It is not an optimal solution in that it wont take me directly to the event if it is faulty. But I can make that work.

The event type got me output, I though about that at the time I went to originally write the query, but then I lose what I am looking for. That got me some of the output I am looking for but I do not have ability to get %indi% and %indi.name% which on the events that are hosed up will not lead me ba...

I have read some on the queries. I dont think it is much like SQL, I dont see much in the help nor the KB. I probably dont know what I am looking for. Here is the situation I am trying to get a list of everyone who has a certain event. It would be nice if that name were variable at run time. I would...

Re: How to fix UDFs
oh, dear. well; it is what it is. That is why I fix them by hand. FH really cant do it, and I am not going to retypeand go thru numerous clicks, every single entry to fix them when they might just need a 2 instead of a 3. I picked a delete case, that is rare, but simple (or not). I will find some wa...
